This 4K copy of Willy Wonka is the best it has ever looked compared to the other copies from the past. The HDR makes the colors pop off the screen. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the 5.1 audio was really front heavy and not very much separation. The base was non existent. I run a 11.3 system and I really couldn’t tell if the surround speakers had sound coming through them. Of course this movie is a classic and has never looked this good. I do recommend this movie for your collection.

The 4K version doesn't scream higher resolution than the blu-ray. You may notice it in some instances, but you'll also really notice when the original footage was a little soft. The real upside to this disc is the HDR, making the factory pop with colors and textures that haven't always been visible. All special features (except for the commentary) are on the blu-ray disc, so you'll have to swap them out to watch. Still, a classic in its best quality.

If you're an adult, a Gene Wilder fan and haven't yet seen this movie you must buy now. Wilder's lovable and mischievous persona is captured beautifully in this classic. Willy is to Superman as "The Producer's" Leo Bloom is to Clark Kent. Fast forward through the rest of the file if you must and drink-up one of the best performances of Wilder's now lamented career!

Great transfer! Definitely the best this film has ever looked! If you are a fan of this movie, you won't be let down. The HDR is well implemented, especially in Wonka's shop. Some brief blurry shots, but nothing too distracting. Worth the pick up!

This is the quintessential family movie, upgraded to perfection in the form of a blu-ray. The magical qualities of this movie have not diminished with time, but been made better with a perfectly restored picture and sound, making it better than ever. Treat yourself, and your family, too, to this timeless classic finally given the restoration it deserved.

I think this new 4k is worth the purchase. The new framing doesn't bother me, it may even be more accurate than the blu-ray. The colors pop without it looking like it's been modernized, it still looks like a movie of it's time, it just looks more polished.

This is a whimsical story of a closeted inventor of chocolates and his intent to pass on his legacy to a worthy successor. I much preferred this original version to the second version with Johnny Depp because that one is darker and a bit more convoluted than it needs to be. There isn't anything wrong with simple, so enjoy this movie for what it is, truly family friendly.

Classic and best version of Willy Wonka. For a movie that was made in 1971 it still looks amazing. The 4k version is great overall when you remember when it was filmed and some of the limitations at that time. I would recommend this for a 4k collection.

We've had this movie on VHS for years and had never gotten it on DVD until now. Found it while shopping for DVD's at the Best Buy in Wichita Falls, TX. My kind of price for one of my truly favorite kind of movies. The quality was good, except I believe a couple of short spots that it's not as sharp as the rest, but definitely nothing to fret over. Glad we got it at such a low price.

I'll always prefer Gene Wilder's classic Wonka film over Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's version, which wasn't bad, but just didn't feel the same. Wilder was a very versatile actor that is deeply missed to this day. He was perfectly cast as Willy Wonka and really made this film flow nicely. It's definitely one that I'll watch again and again!

when i saw the great price on black friday deal, did not hesitate i bought it instantly. the best is it has 4k disc, regular bluray disc, and the digital copy, which is amazing! the movie is an all time great classic a must have..

I am a fervent fan of both Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, but their remake of Willy Wonka pales in comparison with the original feature starring Gene Wilder. This film is as fresh today as it was forty years ago and it seems that kids and adults both seem to prefer this, the original version of Dahl's mordant fable transcribed into cinema, to any subsequent attempts. Wilder is Wonka!

This movie brings me back to when I was a kid before I was a kid and before my parents were kids. If you’ve never watched this movie you absolutely need to go and buy this movie and watch it. I can’t believe that everybody in this movie has passed away. Hurry up and watch it before it doesn’t exist anymore.

Great movie all around! Gene Wilder is genius as Willy Wonka and the music is sooo good (unlike the atrocious musical numbers in the Burton film). Definite must have! I also recommend "Primus and The Chocolate Factory" which is completely inspired by the music in this film. Check it out.

A great choice for 4k, color is a big part of this film and the HDR really brings this out. Especially the red on Charlie's scarf really shows the improvement. Packaging of the case is also great looking with a really shiny dust cover.

This is the original Willie Wonka movie and Gene Wilder shines as Willie! It's been over 30 years since the movie debuted but it's just as relevant today! There are definitely two layers at play - one aimed at children and one aimed at adults. With star turns by Jack Albertson and Roy Kinnear, this is a movie for all ages. A 'must have' for any collection.

The new 4k transfer is definitely better looking than the 2010 Blu-ray edition. You have to consider how old this film is for a 4K release, so It's not an extreme difference. The 4K looks best once your inside the factory of course.

Great classic movie to watch on a rainy weekend. You will likely appreciate it now even if you weren't a big fan seeing it years ago. Also fun to watch some of the Willy Wonka "You Lose" remixes on You Tube when you are in the mood for a laugh.

Wow! What an eye-popping spectacle in 4K. Willy Wonka is back and better than ever and far surpasses the Tim Burton dark tale. This one is just a wonderful treat.

Definitely worth an upgrade with an enhanced transfer! The HD presentation pays dividends in clarity and color. The previous DVD release appeared dull and washed out at times. This release is vibrant and everything you want the Chocolate Room to be!
