Blah blah blah
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie would be a lot better if you were super bored and had about 3 bags of sweet spicy chili doritos to go along with it. The best part about this movie is how cheesy your fingers are and you lick your nails off because they taste so good!

Not worth the 3D experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it for 3D; and, aside from the first scene in Munchkinland, there really is no notable difference from the 2D version. Disappointing. It's nice for a blu-ray experience, nice, clean video, but the 3D is sad.

No where on the blu-ray box does it say 75th anni.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I purchased this I was expecting something on the box to say 75th anniversary. It doesn't even say anything. Its plain Jane. Its just a regular blu-ray box. Well, Its expected for black Friday deals.

This print is the WORST DO NOT BUY!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the blu-ray box set that you could see the patchwork quilt on the scarecrows face. With this print you can't see that and everything just looks wrong! What's worse? Best buy refuses to take it back and refund the Best Buy Card if it's open. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

4K not needed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Rating is not for the movie itself, WoO is a classic. I just didn’t see any advantage paying extra for 4K. If you don’t have the movie It may be worth it since you get the digital copy. If you have it on DVD, save your money.

We are all being played by the industry...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Back in the early 90s, the best picture you could get was laser disc. Out came The Wizard of Oz Ultimate Edition. TXH certified. Gorgeous transfer. We were told that you could see the black roots in Dorothy's hair. Had to have it. Then DVD came out. Another upgraded over laser disc. Then blu-ray came out. And oh those 70- and 75-year box sets. Upgrades galore. Had to have them. Now the 4k transfer is just...wait...another gorgeous upgrade. Scintillating transfer. Gotta have it and dip again and again and again. Well, last night I watched the 4k that I just had to have and shut it off before the monkeys even showed up. Yawn. Snooze. Really? Colors "popping off the screen"? Details you've never seen? Yeah, that's the ticket. Watching on my 85" Sony X900F and spinning on my Panny DP-UB820 blu-ray player (neither of which is anywhere close to entry level) I was completely underwhelmed. Grain is outrageous. It's like watching through a swarm of mosquitoes. Colors are just fine. No "pop" as some reviewers would have you believe. Nothing big to see here folks. I could've popped in any of my prior blu-ray versions and likely have barely been able to see any upgrade...certainly not one for which it's worth pumping more dollars into the industry. Everyone benefits from these money grabs. The studios. The actors and producers and their estates. The professional reviewers who get click-thru fees when you purchase a disc on *A* or the like after reading their glowing, must-have, reviews. And the stores that sell them. Compare this paltry "upgrade" to the true upgrades on 4ks like Apocalypse Now, Kubricks' 2001, and some other stellar transfers from days gone by and yes, then it's worth it, but way too many legacy discs get glowing reviews when there's no there there. Save your money on this one and watch whatever version you have. This disc collector will be much more vigilant in the future before jumping on must haves until I know more about the transfer. Burn me once, shame on you...burn me twice...

That Wonderful Wizard of Ours!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Wizard of Oz is for not only the young, but for the young at heart. In the role that made her a star, Judy Garland makes her signature song "Somewhere over the Rainbow" into a melody that is cherished by millions, while Margaret Hamilton's famous line "I'll get you, my pretty!" as the Witch of the West has been echoed for decades by girls who just want to have fun! Yet we feel Dorothy's sorrow and the Witch of the West's desire for power and revenge, yet we do feel sorry for her because Dorothy's house did, after all, fall on, and kill her sister! Ray Bolger plays the hunky farm hand Hunk - and the classic Scarecrow - with the finesse of the magnificent modern dancer he will always be remembered as, and, indeed, his wild and loose, yet controlled, dancing in The Wizard of Oz is still shown in dance classes throughout the country! The Wizard is also a very well-written part, and we slowly learn that he, like Dorothy, is simply a man from America's heartland who wants nothing more than to return home to the "amber waves of grain." Each and every costume, with the exception of Billie Burke's silly pink hat that closely resembles a wastebasket, is downright lovely. The witches' dresses reflect the glamour of the bygone days of the 19th century, and ladies who are 12 and over may delight in the fact that the online company Victorian Trading Company sells replicas of Hamilton's wickedly beautiful outfit! There is also some zany slapstick for one and all. We are cheered when Hamilton's other character, Kansas stinker Elvira Gulch gets a well-deserved swat, by Dorothy's gate, on the rear end! We also get a good laugh when Dorothy falls into a pigpen and when the Scarecrow attempts to feed Dorothy some apples by making faces at apple trees so that they will get mad at him and lob some of their fruit his way! While many faerie stories have their origins in other countries, the Wizard of Oz is 100% American! Young and old alike can sit back and enjoy this timeless classic that is truly and completely ours!
