Great quality but the 3D is ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie looks and sounds great with amazing quality. The only small issue is the major selling point... the 3D. It is not a spectacular presentation like Dredd 3D but what do you think they could do with a movie made without that technology. Just watch the regular "original" version.

Good Movie, Good Overall Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie is a classic. Is there anything more to say about the actual movie that is not already said? This blu ray version is a good overall release. I own the Special Ed. DVD release as well. THIS blu ray version only has 2 features that the DVD version does not have, "Sing-Along" and "Audio Jukebox." Every other feature on THIS release is also on the DVD release, which is a good thing. THIS release does give you a lot of bonus features. However, just so you know, in case you want to make a fully informed decision, the following features are on the dvd special ed. release and NOT on THIS blu ray release: "Prettier Than Ever - Restoration of Oz," "Memories of Oz," "Art of Imagination: Tribute to Oz," "Because of the Wonderful Things It Does: Legacy of Oz," "Harold Arlen's Home Movies,"Outtakes and Deleted Scenes" (I am surprised this is not on the blu ray), "It's A Twister, It's A Twister" and "Off to See the Wizard." I would still recommend THIS blu ray release though. Peace.

One of the best movies of all time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The one and only best movie of the wizard of oz. This edition has the best movie cover out of the version editions WB has released. The movie will always be a keeper. I only hope one day they will release a widescreen version of it and more bonus features with the movie spots and trailers of this movie. The movie is incredibly good with a great story and amazing actors and actresses. The color and picture quality is amazing as well. I hope the next release of this movie will be widescreen version and have the same picture with a slipcover and be 4k version soon as possible if possible because this movie deserves it completely. True that. If you love the wizard of oz books and the wizard of oz stuff. You will love this completely. I give it more than 5 stars even more then 10 stars if I could but either way I am greatful to have this from the amazing bestbuy. Bestbuy will always be my favorite electronics store. Always and forever. True that.

Excellent Metalpak case and surprisingly good 3D!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a metal case collector, you'll want this in your collection! Sure, it's not a Steelbook, but it is an excellent and well made Metalpak. And on top of that, the converted 3D is actually surprisingly well done and gives the movie a whole new dimension! (Ok, that was bad pun, but if you've seen Wizard of Oz many times, it's almost like watching it for the first time again!) The new documentary is included but many of the previous extras (included in the Ultimate Collector's Edition) are missing here, but don't let that hold you back, as the new doc is well done and very interesting! Well worth the price in my opinion!

Too much compression to get 5 stars!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During the signature "Over The Rainbow" number, they dropped the bit rate so low that Dorothy's dress is no longer checked, it's striped! 13 Mbits/sec when the technology lets you have over 30Mbits/sec -- and it's black & white (well, sepia and white)??? I know we're supposed to just be listening to the great singing, but changing a costume style because you don't feel like taking the time to get the video right loses you a star. Make the film pristine and dump some of the "extras" on the single disk version! Is this scene OK on the multi-disk version by any chance? The (color) trip to Oz is spectacular and makes this disk worth it. But why wimp out on the video for 50th anniversary copy? To make us buy the 60th anniversary copy???

Sharing the Magic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two things compelled me to purchase this movie: my wife and my daughter, neither of whom had seen the movie. My daughter's reason was understandable, but my forehead is still furrowed by my wife's. I purchased the Blu-Ray Digital Copy combo pack. The picture and sound quality were as great as expected - the ruby shoes and yellow brick road really pop. Definitely skip the DVD if you have a high-def TV. I enjoyed the sepia Kansas sequences most, though. There is something magical to the adult me about antiquity and the passage of time. I'm glad to have been able to share the other magic of this film with my family. I purchased it at a very good discount so that was magical as well.

Wizard of OZ 70th anniversary edition
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a fan of the original film, this 70th anniversary edition is extraordinary Everything! is so much clearer and some things that weren't obvious in the original are brought out in this digital remaster. I purchased my copy online and it arrived it great shape two days after it was ordered. I also saved money-it cost less than another store where I was going to purchase the DVD, except they were out.

Who Knew Wizard Could Be 3D?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not grow up watching Wizard Of Oz. It was not available. I became a fan as an adult. I went through the videotape, Laser Disc and Bluray versions. Now, I am watching it with renewed bliss in 3D! I am going to have to research how they convert 2D movies to 3D. The 3D effects are just breathtaking. I agree with those who consider this a perfect movie. I've watched it countless times, but 3D makes it new again.

Great 3d Experience!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This family classic gets a new upgrade with this 3d Blu-ray! I wasn't sure that this was going to be a good idea, but it turned out to be amazing. The depth is incredible and the video and audio quality is perfection! Whether you have seen it once or 100 hundred times, this release begs to be seen in 3d!

This the Reason Blu ray was created!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just went you think it can't get better The Wizard of Oz on blu ray changes all that. The crispness and the vibrant colors of this transfer are nothing short of a miracle. Even the soundtrack gets a major overhaul. If you don't want to splurge on the 3 disc version this one disc version is for you...you might miss some of the extras....but really who watches them more than once.

Excellent purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to buy this because Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite classics and I wanted to check it out in 3D. The metal case is awesome. I was skeptical about the 3D, but when I watched it the 3D blew me away. It is better than any other converted 3D movie I have watched at home. It is now my favorite BluRay. It's a steal at the price.

Buy it! It is awesome on so many levels!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To any anyone who gave the 3D less than stellar. You may have to get your eyes checked out by a professional optometrist. I personally felt it was as if they where anticipating this technology 75 years ago! It was very well done! Bravo! My hats off to the editors! I feel this is how 3D should be!

best movie ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My favorite movie of all time, since i was a kid and we used to go to my uncle's house just to watch it on his color TV back in the 60s. A movie that we would wait for all year, it was a yearly event. It's wonderful to have a Blu-Ray DVD of this great great film!

Great Movie, Great Blu-ray
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really impressed with the quality of the video on this blu-ray. WB did a great job at producing a transfer that is vibrant, crystal clear, and one that shows off just what blu-ray can do to classics. Overall this was a great purchase.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This iteration has everything you could ask for from "TWoZ". It's a gorgeous transfer! You know this classic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the finest films ever made. I never actually watched this on DVD, so I'm not sure how good of an upgrade this is (had an old worn out VHS version). Still, this looks absolutely stunning for such an old field.

One of the Greatest Films Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have nothing bad to say about this Classic film, which still looks just beautiful. Outstanding box set dvd, loaded with bonus material, but only recommended for serious die-hard fans considering the hefty price tag.
