    A Perfect Film!

It seems silly to write a movie review about this one, so I'll focus on the disc itself. When we first put this in our Blu-ray player, it refused to play and seemed stuck in some type of infinite load cycle. We tried it another player and it started right up, so I assume it was my machine that was causing the problem. If you experience a similar issue, please be patient and give it the time it needs to get going. It will be worth the wait! The picture was absolutely gorgeous...clean, clear and sharp with amazing colors once you get to Oz. This is just a wonderful family film and one that is perfect for all ages!

    Great Classic Film

Another flawless classic that withstands the test of time. Most people have forgotten that the movie starts off in black and white, then turns to color when Dorothy reaches Oz. This is the way it was shown originally in 1939, and that's the way this import version presents. The only minor distraction is the default foreign subtitle. But that's what the DVD remote is for. Click the "subtitle" button a couple of times, and the subtitle is completely gone. Heck, what could be easier. The best thing about this import is it's a lot cheaper than the domestic version. Same quality picture, and sound.

I remember watching this movie when they would air it once a year on CBS a few years back. Now it is shown on a couple of different networks quite frequently. This is a wonderful film for the whole family. Who wouldn't want to take a journey to the magical land of Oz? I think that it is terrific how well this movie has held up over the years. It's going on sixty-two years since it was first released and yet, it is timeless. It is great to look back on a film that was made in the thirties, and compare it to the movies made in this day and age. This is a film that will just be something that stays around forever.

Classic film looking tremendous in 4K

I remember being wowed by the Blu Ray release a few years back. Although this 4K Blu ray doesn't have the immediate "wow" factor that the upgrade from DVD to Blu Ray had, it is still looks tremendous in 4K. The extras are thinned out compared to some prior releases, so collectors may want to hold on to some of the older Blu-Ray releases. If you are expecting a revolutionary jump in quality, it does have that...it is a refinement of an already excellent picture and sound quality.

By far the "BEST" version ever

If you have seen the last Blu-ray version of this movie, you have NOT seen the BEST version of this movie. This 75th Anniversary 3D Edition was put together frame by frame and looks 100% better then the last Blu-ray version. If you look at them side-by-side, the colors now "pop" in comparison and this version now looks like it could have been filmed in Hollywood recently. I would HIGHLY recommend this version for any die-hard, or casual fan of this fantastic classic movie.

A Must Have For Your Blu-Ray Collection

In my personal opinion, many old movies don't look that well on blu-ray, mainly because they have a horribly grainy background; something having to do with the film that was used at that time & having to be upscaled to blu-ray format. So I expected Wizard of Oz to be unbearable because of how old it is, but it actually isn't bad on blu-ray at all! It looks quite well remastered to blu-ray format & there is not much noticeable grain at all; only in a few areas. The color is vibrant & bold, & even the old sepia tone scenes look good. A definite must-have for any Wizard of Oz lover and blu-ray collector!

The ONLY reason I did not give this 5 stars... is because it did NOT come with a Digital HDX copy...

Seeing this childhood classic in 3D generated from an 8K scan (75th anniversary) is truly eye popping. You quickly forget it wasn't filmed in 3D. If the film is already ingrained in your psyche you will be delighted as you rediscover many many moments anew. I already owned the previous 2D BD 70 anniversary edition with ALL the extras but for $10 I could not pass this up. Sadly this version omits many of those extras but not the most important ones and it adds extras of its own. So now I'm glad I own them both.

    A Classic That Earns 3D

I won't talk much about The Wizard of Oz as a whole, because everyone's said their praises on it throughout the decades. The 3D is astounding, and at times you'll believe that it was shot for 3D. The post conversion done on this film puts modern post converted 3D movies to shame. There's so much depth, even between Toto being held by Dorothy. The sepia toned beginning and end are stunning in 3D. If you enjoy 3D, and you have a 3D TV then I'd highly recommend this movie for your collection.

Although my plasma Panny' is 3D and I have watched in minor awe a half dozen or so 3D movies on it I was blown away and amazed at the 3D effects for this 75 year old movie. Now I am sadden I didn't go see it on the big screen when it was playing in limited release! If you watch 3D movies at home this is worth the buy. And of course I can't forget to mention the Best Buys version is the best deal out there!

I doubt it's necessary for me to sing the praises of the movie itself; it's a classic for a reason. I would however like to state that this is one of the better 2D to 3D conversions I've seen. Once I saw the swirling debris at the beginning of the film when the twister arrived, I knew I was in for a treat. Also includes a decent amount of special features. Recommended for any fan of 3D movies.

We all know how great this movie is, but how does it look in 4k? This is a great 4k transfer with some scenes being crystal clear. I noticed so many new things while watching this 4k disc. There are a few scenes that are soft, but that is more of a product of the source material rather than the 4k transfer. I would recommend this 4k disc to Wizard of Oz fans.

I've always liked this movie and all the graphics look great seeing it in 4K for the first time. If you haven't seen the wizard of Oz in 4K, you need to! There's no other film that you could watch that is like the wizard of Oz! In my opinion it is a must have movie that everyone should have in their collection. It's a really creative fun movie to watch.

Blu-Ray isn't always necessary for the old classic films, but it helps this one. Detail in Munchkin Land is a sight to see and the colors pop throughout the movie. If only the folks involved with production of the Wizard of Oz could see it in 3D in their homes, they'd cry with joy.

What more can be said about a film that has meant so much to modern day cinema? Pink Floyd even loves this film, so much so that their most well known album was recorded to sync up to the first half of the movie. A simple but larger than life story about friendship, teamwork, longing for a loss, and redefining what it means to be home. This film is as timeless as you can get.

In my opinion the best 3D movies you can buy on Bluray are, Titanic (don't laugh), Avatar, Jurassic Park (1995), and now The Wizard of Oz. A careful amount of time and detail went into creating the 3D effect. Its not annoying or flat and boring. Worth a 3D purchase. Don't expect the same results as Avatar after all you are comparing Apples to oranges but defiantly a must see!

Like I was eight years old, I stood in front of the 3D display at Best Buy.They have got to be kidding. I have Tape DVD versions I have been to OZ since 1940. Well in 2015 at eighty one years old I really travelled the yellow brick road. Six old fogies sat with our Samsung. 3D glasses on. transported to the Emerald City. greatest experience. Get your walkers out, and rush to buy, it,s fantastic. If only Judy could see it? My grandkids will see The Wizard of Oz like never before.
