I purchased this on a Best Buy deal of the day and feel that it is a good value for my purchase price. I purchased this because I am working with cardboard often for an art project. It cuts smoothly and leaves a real clean edge. The blade is supposed to be self sharpening so I hope this lasts for some time for my use. It is definitely safer to use this tool to open some of the other packaging that is out there today. I would recommend this tool for anyone that just needs a safer alternative than using a razor blade to cut anything cardboard, blister packs, or any other hard plastic packaging used in today’s world.

    What a Useful Tool!

My spouse and I recycle and in this world of online purchases and deliveries it does not take long for my garage to get over run with cardboard boxes! So when I saw the Worx Zipsnip I could not believe such a tool existed and I didn’t own it! I mean my spouse is always complaining that I “hack and chop” boxes with abandonment and carelessness with old dull box cutters and it was just a matter of time before I cut myself badly…and they are right! Got the Worx and charges it up. It feels great in the hand and built well. I examined the blade and it has a unique flat hexigonish shape that turns out acts like saw blade teeth but because they are larger it doesn’t feel like a mini saw blade. Which turns out cuts cardboard like butter with minimal effort…It’s amazing how frustration free box cutting has become! It cuts through like a laser into any size you want! Just amazing. Although I wanted it as primarily a box cutter and if that’s the only thing you use it for…HOME RUN! Worth it just for that… But then I got curious. I zipped through paper, Those hard sealed plastic packages, cardstock and even terry cloth!!! No problems!!! It is quite the versatile little tool that should be a staple in any garage or craft room! It also self sharpens and has a three year warranty and the charge is supposed to last for months! Anything a person would snip….the WORX Zip Snip has you covered! You cannot go wrong with this tool! I absolutely love it!

WORX - 4V ZipSnip Cordless Electric Scissors are a welcome addition to my toolbox. My main motivation for getting these scissors was to easily cut cardboard down. I think that is why most people order them. But wait, it does do more! I put it to the test when hemming some curtains. It cuts fabric beautifully. I also cut a pair of jeans and it was double thickness since it was the pant leg bottom. On the first leg I went too fast and it buched up a little which made me have back track out of the cut. On the second leg, I went slower and it was perfect. It's so nice not to have the jagged scissor cuts through the fabric. It also cuts through paper like a breeze. I used it when wrapping a gift and had one straight cut. I also tried it on 14 GA. soft copper wire, don't recommend that. It's not a saw so it bounced 3 times on it and got 3/4 the way through. I easily bent the wire and it broke off where I needed. That's a good way to dull it quickly, but I wanted to see it's limits. I wouldn't use regular scissors to cut wire that thick, so applying the same rule to the Worx Cordless Electric Scissors is a good rule of thumb. Overall, I'm very happy with it's performance and convenience.

I use this tool mainly to cut down cardboard boxes for the recycling bin. It definitely helps me reduce space taken up by the many cardboard boxes we receive. It works as intended. Sometimes I wish it was a little bit more powerful, but it does the job. I wish it was USB-C charged, so I didn't have to have an extra barrel-type charging cable, but that's not too bad. I got this on a deal, and I would say it was definitely worth it at the discounted price.

Worx 4V ZipSnip Cordless Electric Scissors - NICE!

Received my scissors and the first thing I did was charge them overnight. The light on the end is red until fully charged then it turns solid green. I mainly wanted these to start cutting up the many boxes I have for recycling so was excited to try them out. When I started cutting I wasn't used to holding them properly and it seemed awkward to try and keep the orange side button depressed plus holding in the bottom switch and cut at the same time. Without the button pressed the blade won't spin. I know this is a safety feature and needed but it still seemed difficult for me. But after awhile I finally got the hang of how to hold them which made it a lot easier. I am right handed but not sure how these would work with a left handed person due to the guard placement. My husband tried them with his left hand and couldn't get them to work right. Just something to keep in mind or perhaps he was just holding them wrong. While I was cutting the boxes I found some of the thicker ones I really had to push hard to make the blade cut through. It did seem easier when I cut along the cardboard lines lengthwise instead of trying to go crossways. However it didn't make much difference at all on thin cardboard. Just breezed along. One thing to note these scissors do not cut through tape well so I avoided that by removing tape and flattening the boxes before starting to cut them. Once in awhile the scissors do seem to jam up and I'd have to tug it off the area and start over. You basically have to be cautious where you cut, how you hold them and the thickness of the cardboard. It will NOT cut cardboard that's too thick to fit inside the guard. The instructions tell you about this. The battery charger is rather erratic. It seems to work most of the time when I plug it in but then once in awhile I have to wiggle it around before the red charging light comes on. As long as it keeps charging I don't find that an issue. They don't hold a charge all that long though so be prepared to plug them in once you are done unless you only cut up one or two items. I ordered extra blades as I found teeny nicks already starting on the original blade after cutting about 8 boxes. So as far as the self sharpening not quite sure about that but I still feel the scissors are worth the added expense for their ease of use. I paid $20 for 6 blades. I then opened up a blister pack and WOW they cut through it perfectly! Finally! No trying to cut that hard plastic open with regular scissors and hurting your fingers in the process. I always dreaded buying ANYTHING in a blister pack but now no more worries! The ZipSnip's get an A+++++ for that feature! I didn't try cutting any other items such as material, paper or things like that but am sure they should work fine because those items are mostly thin. I really like these electric/battery scissors. If you use them properly with care they will do their job and nicely too. Since mine are working as they should right now, I can definitely recommend them.

Have you ever never knew you needed something...until you got it? This Zip Snip is it for me. I didn't really expect that it would work. I got it to cut my peel and stick backsplash that's made of a thin sheet of metal along with a foam back and a thin piece of clear plastic on the top all toll aprx. 1/4" thick. To my great surprise it actually cut it like a warm knife through butter! The manufacturer suggestion was tin snips and a jig saw, I have another suggestion for them. LOL The tool came shipped in completely biodegradable corrugated packaging. Straight out the box it was ready for usage, however I plugged it in using the included charger to get a full charge. To operate, depress the lock switch and power at the same time and I was in business. The blade is replaceable by unscrewing the nut holding the blade in, I'm guessing they can be found thru the Worx website or maybe one of the big box stores. This tool will find so many uses in my household, like cutting up boxes and hemming my always to long jeans. For now it'll be kitchen work.

The WORX ZipSnip electric scissors are super handy for crafting, fabric cutting, and general DIY projects. The cordless design makes them easy to maneuver, and the self-sharpening rotary blade stays sharp over time. They cut through fabric, paper, and light materials smoothly without requiring much effort. The 4V rechargeable battery charges quickly and lasts long enough for most small to medium tasks. They’re lightweight and comfortable to hold, making repetitive cutting less tiring than with traditional scissors. Overall, a useful tool for anyone who frequently works with fabric or craft projects.

    Worx Great!!!

The Worx ZipSnip is like a heavy duty pair of snips or sheers. It’s not like a rotary saw that depends on sheer speed, it’s more like a decent torque cutter that uses similar contact and torque that cuts clean and effortlessly through heavier duty materials similar to a pair of snips or even can opener. Some examples of uses: - Cutting up carpet or thicker fabric with some kind of backing material. The Zip Snip Worx right through it with minimal hand strain. - Cutting thicker hobby or backer board. You can even line it up with a straight edge to get a straight cut across. - Cutting through thin metal, like flashing. Yep just work slowly and as mentioned the Zip Snip will cut through like a pair of snips would. - Vinyl or plastic? No problem at all. I was even able to cut vinyl siding quickly, cleanly and easily without any splitting or problems maintaining a clean edge. Definitely keep out of reach of small children and always wear gloves and safety glasses when using these tools or any power tools in general. But so far this Zip Snip worx great!!!

Great, maybe not for arthritis or tendinitis hands

I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself, my mom, and a friend. (We’re at those ages where practical gifts make more sense.) It had such great reviews, and I was excited to get it, since we have a lot of things shipped to our house and I have a lot of cardboard to cut up there’s nothing wrong with the product itself – it cuts perfectly through cardboard, but I haven’t tried it with other products yet. (Of note, you can even cut circular shapes with it, which is kind of cool if you’re creating things.) the only issue that I’ve found, which really isn’t with the product itself, is that it is not good for smaller hands, as it is somewhat challenging to grip and be able to press the button on the side. In addition, anyone with arthritis or tendinitis might not be able to use it as well either, given the thickness of it and the way you have to grip it and press the side button at the same time. It’s also not particularly lightweight, which can make it challenging for those same categories of people. The product itself is great, and safer for anyone who wants to cut through tough things (including that awful heavy-duty “clamshell” packaging!) safely!

    Great for Craft Projects!

Overall we are happy with Worx ZipSnip and use it mostly on crafting projects and opening/cutting down packages. It can cut through clam shell plastic packaging, thin cardboard and thick paper without leaving any sign of tearing or rough edges. The maximum depth of the cutting material is 1/4 inch. It can also be used to cut through fabric but because the fabric isn’t taught its harder to get an exact cut. Cutting through corrugated cardboard is more difficult and takes more pressure to advance the cutter. Also the blade guard stops you about an inch from the bottom of a box due to its design. Whatever you are cutting needs to have an open area on both sides as well as in front of the blade guard. To start the cutting you have to press a safety lock and then press the power switch. Once it starts you can let go of the safety lock as long as you keep pressing the power switch. Using the safety switch with the start switch took some time to get used to because of the design of the grip handle. The blade is not round but rather has 10 multi-faceted edges and it rides on a sharping stone as its used. This keeps the blade sharp but increases the size and complexity of the blade guard. On a plus side the blade is held on with a single screw and is easy to replace when worn. This cutter doesn’t come with any type of case or bag for storage.

I absolutley love this product. I buy more on line than I care to admit. So I have a lot of boxes. And lots of large boxes. This devices cuts the cardboard boxes with ease. You just push it up the side of the box and it is so simple. It allows me to cut down the boxes and load them in the recycling bin without crushing or folding them. It's so easy. I highly suggest getting one to anyone that needs to quickly and effortlessly cut down boxes to fit in their bins.

Was a bit skeptical that it would have enough power to cut corrugated cardboard, but it can easily cut parallel to the ridges, and with a little bit effort, perpendicular to the ridges . Thicker cardboard (>5mm) is a bit challenging. 4 stars because it uses a proprietary 4V charging brick. Inside is just a standard 18650 battery so they could easily have used a standard USB charging circuit.
