Not sure if it is faster than using a regular box cutter, but if you have a lot of boxes to cut this will do the trick without tiring yourself out.

It is safer, but far slower than just using a box cutter. I got it to try and make breaking down boxes for recycling easier and more fun for my kid who does it as a chore but after seeing him struggle and then using it myself I see some major issues with the jaw and overall usefullness.
