Technically great Blu-ray just OK movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite being a visually stunning film, this is likely one of the weaker X-Men films, which is to say it's quite weak. Over a span of 9 films, the X-Men franchise has had its fair share of highs and lows. Following the soft reboot with First Class, Bryan Singer came back to direct the surprisingly solid Days of Future Past, which successfully blended the casts of both generations of films and offered a fun reset to the muddled continuity. As a fan of the Age of Apocalypse series of comics produced in the 90's, I had high hopes for this film. Unfortunately what we have here is an incredibly generic summer blockbuster, high on action and destruction, low on thoughtful story and we'll developed characters. That's not to say this is a total failure. If you're looking for fun mindless flicks, this should fill your need. It also happens to be a visually stunning Blu-ray and one with first rate 3D. Overall this was a largely disappointing film but one that looks great and a disc that will wow your friends if you want to show off your system.

The weakest of the newer X-Men movies
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apocalypse is not as strong a film as Days of Future Past or First Class. It's still entertaining, but is a little forgettable and the script isn't as tight as the other two films of the recent X-Men offerings. But the Blu-ray has a decent selection of special features and great image and sound quality. If you're a fan of the other two films you may enjoy this one as well.

Good but not as good as Days of Future Past
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another good X Men film. There's (almost) no Hugh Jackman here, but the movie is still good. Fassbender is excellent in some of his scenes with his family. Mcavoy is great again too and I'm really liking this newer group of X Men. I would say this is also Jnnifer Lawrence's steongest performance as Mystique. Good movie. Not quite as good as Days of Future Past however.

Really Good Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I knew this movie was really panned by the critics and most of the audience, but I must say that I really enjoyed the movie. I found myself really involved in the plot and that the movie was actually really well done. Maybe I felt this was because I did not have really high expectations going in, but I must say that this movie is definitely worth the watch.

True comic adaptation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is in my opinion the best X-Men film out there. The titular villain is alright, but it's Olivia Munn's Psylocke that's truly true to the comics, as she is hot, and is the best feature in this movie. Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique stands out as a bold leader. And this is a true origin story bringing in the classic X-Men team. I highly recommend this to die hard fans of X-Men comics, Marvel comics, or just comics in general.

Great 4K Experience, Decent Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the best movie due to storyline much more focused on action for entertainment than artistic value (maybe 3 out of 5 stars on the movie itself) but the speacial effects and audio/video quality are superb. Like myself, if you're buying this movie in 4k, audio/video are probably important to you which is why I give this 4 stars since the audio/video don't disappoint.

Good....But, a few sticking points.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie as a whole is decent. It's good. But , if your someone who has grown up on these comics. Well, then you'll see my issues. It's not that it done badly, just, different . It like they were rushing to get this out of the way type movie. So the slapped a few origin stories together and said "here you go.". But still say give it a shot and see what you think.

new and old characters
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have all X Men movies except Logan... Yet! But this is pretty good. Like how they show you some of the origins of a few characters form the original. The hard idea off losing your family and hating the world its a little difficult to stay positive. A little love from someone that is not related to you is a good message and true. Good reminder to never give up.

Well Done
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would think it's hard coming up with new X-Men stories after so many movies, but they have not suffered from repeating the same plot lines over and over like the Superman franchise. Other people I know who aren't crazy about superhero movies actually liked this one as well, which is a pretty good endorsement. I don't know where they'll go from here, but so far they have kept things entertaining and relatively fresh!

Apocalyptic fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie itself was well done and a lot of fun, but what I'll really give kudos to here is the beautiful steelbook presentation of the case, and the fact that unlike Disney, this is a true "combo pack" collection with DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Edition. Disney typically likes to split the DVD and the Blu-Ray into separate offerings with the Marvel movies, which is horrible. This collection: two very enthusiastic thumbs up.

Best of the franchise yet!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Movie: Personally I think it's the best film of the franchise. I can see where some of the negativity comes from, but other super hero movies can share some of them as well. Picture Quality: Astounding. HDR really makes this movie shine in certain scenes (particularly at the climax of the film). Sound Quality: This is a very...loud movie. I mean that in a good way. Your speakers will get a workout with this movie.

Just stop already...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I watch these just for the sake of saying I've seen them, but Fox has taken this franchise up and down so many times over the years, when can we say enough is enough? True, this film has some good scenes, but overall..Just give Marvel the movie rights.. Only thing saving this is the steelbook case, which for collectors is really the only reason to own this film.

Decent movie, but not the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a decent film, though it feels very phoned-in and not nearly as good as the two previous X-Men films (First Class and Days of Future Past). It suffers from a "been there, done that" story, coupled with an obvious push to force Jennifer Lawrence to the lead role, a role which comes off flat and unconvincing. Essentially, it looks like she did it just to fulfill her contract. The spectacle is there, but very hollow, and there is a lacking sense of drive or purpose to the story. I think the writers just shoe-horned characters in (including an unnecessary Wolverine cameo), and then proceeds to make them completely underused. It's never really clear why Apocalypse chooses Storm and Angel to be part of his horsemen when there are much more powerful mutants (Professor X, Quicksilver, Wolverine, among many others). I'd recommend the previous films and only pick this up if you really feel like you need to. Uninspired would be my one word of choice for this one. But the steel book case is really nice, so there's that.

The perfect action film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Following in tradition of all of the X-men you have another successful hit. With this new cast of characters and younger generation of next level actors they pick up where the veterans left off. I enjoyed the graphics in this movie and by it being in 4K it is a experience like no other. I recommend this to anyone who owns a 4K television so they can get the full experience. Thumbs up for this movie all the way around.

Great Third Highest Grossing X-men series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An ancient mutant, Oscar Isaac, from Star Wars, awakens in 1983 and plans to wipe out modern civilization and take over the world, leading the X-Men to try to stop him and defeat his team of renegade mutants. There were really strong performances especially liked Quicksilver and the new Kurt Wagner. This is a thinking person's action movie of great CG visual effects. Smart, funny, strong and along the X-men themes.

Fun Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie picks up after Days of Future Past with younger versions of Professor X, Magneto, and team. If you haven't watched any of the previous movies you might be a little lost with the number of characters that are introduced with little to no background. The movie is a fun and enjoyable super hero flick. It's not the best, but worth seeing more than once.

Great finish to the First Class Trilogy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't completely blown away and expected much more from Apocalypse, but I was as disappointed as I thought I'd be (not that I'm still not disappointed). The storyline was great with still a few discrepencies, but if you can overlook it and simply enjoy it, I thought it was a much better end to an X-Men trilogy than the X-Men: Last Stand from the original.

Ridiculous and Silly Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the third of this prequel X-Men trilogy, Apocalypse features the titular villain and Professor X's crew of mutants fighting in the 80s to save the world once more. It's good mutant action with some new and returning favorites like Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Cyclops, and others that probably makes no sense in the end, but it's still a good time for X-Men fans.

Great movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a bad buy for the price I paid. A great cast of characters and great special effects. It doesn't show half of what went on in the comic-book series 'Age of Apocalypse,' but Hollywood does that, taking complex storylines from books and oversimplifying them to fit an allotted time. I've seen worse, though, so I'll say it's worth watching at least once.

My honest opinion?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My honest opinion.... I think this is probably one of the best X Men movies in a long time since the original trilogy. For awhile I didn't think they had a handle on the whole situation with the new cast (which I still wish they would stick with the old) and I'm just going to forget the spin offs ever existed. The 4K also looked amazing, and for once this is a real 4K movie instead of 2K upscaling onto a 4K disc.
