X-Men is one of my favorite comic and movie franchises but this movie falls short. After amazing additions to the film franchise with First Class and Days of Future Past, this movie takes 2 steps backwards. The title villain Apocalypse fails to be menacing and doesn't feel like the large threat he is in the source material. This film struggles from too many new additions to the cast, none of which get enough development, over the top CGI effects that look like a video game, a weak story, and an overall lack of excitement. There were a few good things, such as the Wolverine scene, Quicksilver scene, and the performances by McAvoy/Fassbender but there were just too many critical errors that prevent this one from being entertaining. Steelbook option was a bonus. I give this movie a 2/5 stars.
