    Definitely Worth Watching on Blu-Ray

I consider myself a pretty advanced comic book fan, so I was well aware of the original storyline, as well as the development of the film and the many changes made between the original source material and this film adaptation. As someone who works in the field, I am also aware of how much has to change in order for the adaptation to be as effective on film as the original was in 4 color print. All that being said, I was very pleased with the film, as both an avid movie-goer and as a comic book fan. This is definitely one of the better X-Men francise movies and I would actually place it as one of the top 3 (alongside X2: X-Men United and X-Men: First Class) X-Men films. It's a solid feature film that continues building the world established in First Class, while paying homage to the original trilogy of films. Humor, action, a strong story, VFX spectacle and solid performances make this a worthwhile film, though new viewers may not find it as enjoyable unless they've viewed the other entries into the series. I highly suggest watching X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and most definitely X-Men: First Class prior to watching this film. X-Men Origins Wolverine and The Wolverine are optional, though I highly recommend avoiding X-Men Origins. Bryan Singer's return to the franchise felt surprisingly stale, after the fresh and unique spin applied by Matthew Vaughan in X-Men: First Class, though the usage of the "younger cast" helps considerably in keeping the franchise from feeling as long in the tooth as it actually is. Of course, the stand out cast members are hard pressed to compete with the scene-stealing Evan Peters as Quicksilver and his action sequence definitely stands among the top in the franchise, right up next to the Nightcrawler sequence from X2. The inventive use of camera work and VFX makes for a humorous and lively jailbreak sequence. All in all, I highly recommend this film for fellow film viewers and general audience members alike.

    Exciting and Epic

I was a fan of Bryan Singer's excellent, masterful first two X-Men movies, but was dealt a sucker-punch to the gut with Brett Ratner's stillborn disaster that was "X-Men: The Last Stand." So much so that I couldn't be bothered to continue with any related films after that -- not the two Wolverine flicks, not "First Class." When I learned that Singer was returning to the fold to direct a new X-Men film, I rejoiced. Although he's coughed up some real stinkers lately -- "Superman Returns," "Valkyrie," "Jack the Giant Killer" -- I felt confident that he'd be able to step easily back into form with this series. And he did. WOW...what an exciting, epic and fun movie. Even for someone like me who didn't actually read the X-Men comics when I was a kid or later (thus, not being familiar with the original "Days of Future Past" comics storyline), I had no trouble at all getting into this film's story and becoming engrossed in the action. I was able to follow along easily with which versions of the characters were doing what and where they were. The visuals are jaw-dropping, dare I say almost gorgeous to look at. Everyone in the cast gets their moments to shine. Singer knocked it right out of the park. I'm looking forward to "X-Men: Apocalypse" now.

    MOVIE RULES, PACKAGING DOESN'T

XMEN: DOFP is a great and fun "X-Men" movie that thankfully corrects a few of the mistakes the series has made in the past (primarily most, if not all, of X-Men: The Last Stand and ALL of X-Men Origins: Wolverine). It has a great cast lead, as always, by the irreplaceable Hugh Jackman and has awesome special effects. Along with a very easy to follow time travel plot (this is nowhere as mind-bending as say the first time you saw Back to the Future Part II). So the film comes highly recommended. But what does not is BB's exclusive packaging for the 3D version. On the site it looked cool and was priced at the same price most other 3D versions from other retailers was as well. Being a sucker for store exclusive packaging I up and ordered it and was disappointed to not only have the outer box come to me looking worn and torn but also the INSIDE of it looking like it had a few hands touching it. Basically, it looked like a hand me down and did not give me the Brand New feeling. Now, I'm not saying that I got a used copy considering the fact that I got it on release day but BB needs to find better ways to have items shipped to their customers. Especially smaller items like Blu ray movies that come in a cardboard packaging. I kinda wish I just stuck with the regular release that came with the slipcover. But whatever. Next year there will be an extended version that 20th Century Fox will be releasing so I have that one to look forward to. Until then, this is a great movie to enjoy until the newest X-Men adventure comes out in 2016.

    great movie

Great movie probably the best in the series... but, apparently it's not the full movie! This came on sale early through AIV and I had promotional credits. WIN/WIN. Except, now it's been revealed that there will be an extended version including scenes with the character Rogue. So, I'm glad I got to watch this movie early, I am NOT happy that I own the movie in its short-version and the longer one is coming out later. With the LOTR series I know not to buy the initial version and always wait for the extended. Now I'm hesitant to buy any movie out-of-the-gate because of this irritating double-dipping of the studios. They should always announce when there will be an additional/extended/director's cut of a film before the movie goes on sale. Or maybe I should always download a movie and not buy it until I know I'm getting my money's worth.

    What an excellent X-Men movie!

What an excellent movie DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is! Based on a comic book time travel story from years ago, this movie is well acted, well directed, and stays fairly true to the original story based on the upcoming Sentinels-- although they are altogether quite different to advance the movie story. Both teams are highlighted nicely here, though the majority of the story features Wolverine, who goes back to the past to prevent a horrible future. While this movie might make fans think of the Terminator movies, it has its own original twists and turns as an X-Men movie usually does. I highly recommend this one to X fans and movie fans a like!

One of the better in the series

I was wondering how they would tie the two casts together, and was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. This is a great SciFi/Action film that has an interesting story line. It rounded out several more characters. In fact, I would say it is one of the best films of the franchise, and well worthy of adding to the library. The audio and video are very near reference quality. The extra features are numerous and interesting to watch. However, if you have not purchased it yet, there may be an extended version released in the future to get people like me to double dip. If you are not interested in waiting, then I say get it now.

Great movie, extras not worth the extra $

Excellent story line, well put together movie, good acting. The extras (exclusive packaging and "Confidential Trask Files") are a nice touch, but I got this on sale the week it was released for the same price as the standalone "Ultimate Edition," which is the same version that comes in this set. After seeing the non-sale price a week later, I can safely say the extras are not worth an extra $20. If you want the exclusives, wait for it to go back on sale.

    Great Fun Action Movie

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is my favorite of all the X-Men movies. The premise is just as convoluted as the movie title, especially since at times I was thinking, "Really?! How the heck are they going pull this off without making it a confusing mess of a storyline?!", but somehow, they made it work more or less. Thankfully no "Inception"-like levels of confusion. Not to say too much, but Wolverine is sent back to the past to set certain things in motion to save the future, which is getting pretty dire, so yes, there is some crazy time travel stuff going on. It was quite fun to watch, especially if you've seen some of the previous movies (not totally required, but recommended).

Great sequel & overall X-Men movie!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is a combination of the return of the original trilogy cast, as well as the new cast of the most recent re-boot in the franchise. However, you can say that this movie is a sequel to both "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "X-Men: First Class" since Logan/Wolverine must travel back in time to the 1970's in order to prevent certain events from happening that if Logan/Wolverine isn't able to prevent, can potentially lead to the demise of all mutants (good and evil). The entire movie has a great story line and plenty of action that will delight all fans of X-Men. Definitely recommend this movie to all those that enjoy a great action packed movie!

    X-emplary Best Buy X-Clusive

Basing my review strictly on the merits of Best Buy's exclusive edition, it's a really well-made, well-designed package. More often do I prefer Steelbook packaging for their exclusives, but the Sentinel double-slipcover was hard to resist. The added fan art collection and Trask Industries Confidential Mutant Files only sweeten the deal; printed on high-quality stock and placed within a silver file lined with purple interior. My only gripe is that it would have been better had they used an actual digipak to house the Blu-rays within than a standard jewel case. Overall, though, well worth the purchase.

    Great Film

This was a near-perfect comic book movie. X-Men: Days of Future Past is such an all around great movie. Plus I love Mystique and Jennifer Lawrence looks amazing all in blue. The thing I like about this movie is how you really got to see the X-Men use their powers in conjunction with one another. The X-Men are a team and a lot of the other movies don't have them using their powers in unison with each other. But within the opening 10 minutes this movie has them doing it all together, and it is amazing.

    More than worth it

I enjoyed the theatrical release of this movie even though it had some pretty huge flaws when it came to paying respect to the x-men comics and overall mythology. This cut made up for 90% of my original problems! This to me is the far superior version of this movie both with pacing as well as literally wallowing around in its source material. We'll probably never see a truly perfect film version of days of Future Past so if not, this works fine for me. My biggest problem with any version of this film... Seriously Brian Singer is it that hard to give us a version of the sentinel that actually looks like a f***in sentinel? C'mon even Brett Ratner got that right!

    Awesome Movie

I enjoy Marvel movies, and this movie was no exception. This movie included everything that I enjoy about Marvel movies - interesting storyline, excellent special effects, and good acting. As far as the product itself, there's really not a lot you can say about a disc; after all, you just put it in a Blu-Ray player and press play. I will say, however, that I like how most Blu-Ray movies also come with a free downloadable HD version, as this one did.

    Great Flick, Great Price

I saw this movie in the theaters, and it was outstanding. I am a bit of a fan boy. sometimes the bluray is better than the theater version, and sometimes it is worse. I would have to say enjoyed this bluray more than the theater version...not because of extras, I just thought it was crisper. As for the movie, a great tie in to the old movies, as well as keeping with the comicbook story lines. highly recommend.

    X-Men at it's Finest

After back to back disappointing X-Men movies (Origins Wolverine and X3) the series has found it's rhythm again. Days of Future Past is an exceptional follow up to both First Class and The Wolverine. Based on the comic of the same title. This was the most intelligent way to reboot the timeline and be able to continue use the same exceptional cast with all the new faces. Buy this movie and you won't be disappointed.

One of the best attempts by Director, Bryan Singer to bring a new perspective to the X-Men franchise. The beauty of this movie is with all of the new characters to the X-Men movie series, Singer was able to bring all the original actors back....It's rare a Director is able to accomplish that with such an ensemble cast. You will not be disappointed in this latest (dare I say) 'milestone' in the X-Men films.

    Good... but a bit annoying

This is a decent comic book movie-- great effects, good story. Listening to the Bonus features sort of explains why I still was annoyed-- the developed a plot and then choose characters based on what abilities they needed. As a result, characters seemed to act outside of their typical nature at times, and at others didn't use their powers in a way that would prevent some of the issues that arose-- and making it a bit frustrating. Outside of that.... this movie ties all the rest of the movies together and is entertaining most of the time.

I really enjoyed this movie and I hope they make more. I was disappointed after the last xmen movie: X3 but I liked First Class so I thought I would give this one a chance. I loved this movie so much I left the movie theater knowing I was going to buy it as soon as I could. It has all the magic of First Class and the first xmen movie. Its a great blend of the characters in a believable way.
