Surprisingly Great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little skeptical when seeing the previews for this movie, because my opinion of the previous X-Men movies were enjoyable, to rather dull...they should have called them the Wolverine Show. Anyways, James McAvoy straight up stole the show. He sheds a new light on Xavier. Wonderful casting for him. Michael Fassbender as Erik was also pretty well done. Fassbender was pretty decent in 300, for his smaller part (Kind of comic relief) and I really enjoyed his Character of Lt. Archie Hicox in Inglorious B@sterds. Kevin Bacon really threw me off though, I did NOT expect him at all. He was decent. His side kick Emma Frost was utterly terrible though...VERY bland and boring. Lot of good special effects, not great but the story really made this an enjoyable movie. At least they didn't overdo the effects like most movies do these days. The best X-Men movie to date, can't wait to see some more movies like this!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.just a few key points 1. This movie is awesome soo many great scenes soo many great actors everything about this movie was way better than expected + i got to see it twice at the IMAX for free! so you can't beat that.. 2. i have an awesome sony BDP N460 and a 120hz hd lcd tv that makes it look incredible.... i do have one iissue though which is the fact that i had to buy it at target because they were the only ones that had the blu-ray+dvd+digital copy combo pack...it was the first blu-ray movie that i did not purchase at best buy....btw best buy is charging the same amount for their 2 disk version as i paid for the 3 disk version at target $22.99....go figure... fantastic movie though one to watch again and again.... now for those of you having issues playing it on your blu-ray player go online and either download or order the newest firmware update for your player thats what i did 6 months ago now it plays everything no problem at all...

First Class is moving, funny and fun
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Personally, I love this movie. It rivals X2 as the best of the bunch. The tone was breathtakingly perfect. Setting it in the early 60’s was brilliant. This gives the film something no one really has seen before in these type of films and certainly elevates it from the X-Trilogy. As a fan of that trilogy, it is everything I was hoping for and maybe a bit more. This is the Xavier and Magneto story everyone has wanted to see since X1 and it’s done remarkably well. It’s easy to see why this movie has surprised the doubters and seems to frustrate the few haters. It’s solid all the way through. The first half features a set up with characterization so clever and so engaging that it’s shear perfection. That perfection seems to stumble a bit under the weight of the villain’s master plan. Things get a bit too grandiose and certain military action boarders on the crazy but the film never loses the fun factor throughout. First Class is moving, funny and fun and maybe not technically better than X2, it’s certainly as entertaining.

Great Film, despite unnecessary changes to canon.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First Class is a very well done movie that continues the consistent X-men themes regarding toleration and intolerance. The 60's era is a fantastic backdrop that only helps to set the stage for the best X-men movie since X-men 2. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are excellent choices for Professor X and Magneto, respectively. The lovely Rose Byrne was a nice choice for Moira McTaggert as well. The only casting blunder was selecting January Jones as Emma Frost. Hopefully, if they make sequels, she will be replaced or allowed to be a little less cold. It was like watching the former Mrs. Draper (Mad Men, for the uninitiated) all over again. But, maybe the director held her back (???) resulting in this drab and icy performance? I dunno. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt as she is, at the very least, easy on the eyes. Nevertheless, as all true X-men fans know, this is not the true "First Class", since Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Iceman and Angel are not represented. Still, it's a fun thrill ride that more than exceeded my expectations! Easily one of, if not the, best of the superhero/sci-fi films of 2011!

I Great Beginning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This a great beginning to the X-Men story. I thought it fit in really well with the other X-Men movies, and it explained a lot of questions/background about the main characters that I did not know before. I also liked the cast. I thought the acting was exceptional, and their personalities/looks matched well with the actors in the "later" movies, making it more fitting. I also injoyed the storyline and thought the action scenes where great and never disappointing. I will admit that I am not a comic book fan, or have any knowladge of the X-Men stories except of what I have seen on TV or in the movies. Therefore, I had no expectations of what this movie should have been like. I am simply an average person watching a movie. With that perspective I would gladly recommend this movie to anyone. It is a great addition to any Blu-ray collection.

Very nice BluRay after u can watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blu-ray itself is excellent and one of the better Xmen film. What is highly disappointing about this product was getting it to play in my Sony player. At first I thought I had purchased a poor quality copy. I exchanged it for another and had the same issues. Thank goodness for the internet. There is a procedure to get this disc to play ; unless you have a Samsung. Fox of course takes no responsibility for a poor product and the Best Buy return policy of only being able to exchange for the same product in this case sucks; especially if you have a Samsung and can't play the disc. Hopefully at some point Fox will issue a new disc or fix the issue in some way. Again, once you can see the film it looks and sounds great, but you shouldn't have to go through a process to get it to play in all Blu-ray players.

X-Men First Class in every way.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This continuation of X-2 (I'm not a fan of 3) is a fantastically re-imagined origin story for the boys and girls in blue and gold. Well paced, written and acted, it is very hard for this veteran 20+ year X-Men fan to see how it could be rated lower than perfect...unless you are are purist & inflexible about being true to the source material. But let's be honest, how many incarnations and re-imaginings of the X-Men have we seen from Marvel Comics? At least this one is fantastic!

You will not regret this purchase.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As for this movie in its own right it goes a long way towards healing wounds of true fans. However, while X-men: First Class moves in the right direction with hardcore fans it does so without being slavishly tired to the source material. Giving moviegoers and comic book readers a new story that is both fresh yet oddly familiar. In the end what we have is a brilliant story directed by Matthew Vaughn, starring a first class cast (no pun intended), and an unbelievable score.

A Satisfying X-Men Prequel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.X-Men: First Class is the 5th movie in the X-Men franchise and delves deep into the origins of many mutants, being that its setting is in the 60's, it has a pleasing tone . Looks great on Blu-Ray, the movies only con is it leaves some questions unanswered for die hard fans, but really this film did prove X-Men will survive & can thrive at that, with its competition being the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's successors have each proven they can outdo the last, the latest being Deadpool, and likely the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.

Best Movie Ever!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie has it all: It takes place in the '60s, there was great acting, the special effects were amazing, there were special appearances by Hugh jackman and Rebecca Rojman, and by the end in the movie Erik Leshser finally Magneto. My favorite part of the movie most of all was when Erik threw the missles back at the american and the russians. Of all the X-men movies I've seen this is the best yet. I can't wait fo rthe sequel.

A very fun movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This X-men film is fantastic, a much better film than the previous two X-films. It ranks as one of the best next to X2. The only problem with these X-films is it deviates too much from the source material, I understand the need for that at times but the characters should at least fit their history, age and timelines. Overall, I recommend the film on the strength of the actors and the the director alone. Watch this movie if you are at all interested in comic book movies,

Doesn't work on a lot of Blu-Ray Players
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bluray disc that I bought did not work on my LG Blu-ray player. I called 20th Century Fox support number at the back of the box and they said it is fault of the LG Blu Ray player. They will not accept refunds. They were pretty rude and adamant that it was entirely the blu ray players fault because millions of people viewed this movie and are happy with it. And that they never heard anybody call and complain that it didn't work before.

X-Men Reboot Doesn't Feel Like the Comics
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since the first X-Men movie in the year 2000, Fox has had a problem adapting the characters on screen so that they resemble and feel like characters as seen in the comics. Take inspiration sure, but too many changes leads to something that's hard to recognize as familiar, not always for the better. Keep in mind, this set does not include an iTunes digital copy, only an UltraViolet one, unfortunately.

The Savior (for me) of the X-Men movie franchise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's like night and day when comparing this film to the previous two entries in the X-Men film franchise. I'm not sure if the franchise might have petered out if not for the quality of this film, but I know they would have lost me as a fan if this was a third consecutive disappointment. Very well executed across the board.

Movie Equivalent of a Comic Retcon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie itself is pretty good-- it's essentially a retcon of everything else that has happened in the Xmen universe as told by Fox entertainment. It doesn't restart the universe, it all considered to be within the same as the first three films, but stories have shifted, origins redefined, and facts that once were are no longer. Good film if you love superheros, mutants, or Marvel.

Good Prequel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not my favorite of the X-Men movies, but definitely a good movie. The movie answers a lot of questions of how the X-Men got to where they are in the original movies. I felt like there could have been more time spent with Magneto and Professor Xavier before they became enemies, that aside it was a really good movie. By far a better prequel than some prequels these days, but not as good as Star Trek.

Great Superhero Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie was a definite buy, especially when I saw it on sale. I saw it in theaters when it released and I though it was great. Also, love that it came with a digital copy since I think that is where the entertainment market is shifting.
