    Excellent sound bar with Alexa

This is my third sound bar and by far my favorite although it doesn’t include a wireless subwoofer. I hooked this up to my 60” Sharp 4K TV using the Arc input and with this setup, it automatically switches to the sound bar for audio. Even without the separate subwoofer, the bass is complimentary and not overpowering. Setting it up was as simple as downloading the app, pairing it and it automatically downloaded and installed the update. I can download playlists from my Apple Music and Amazon accounts, as well as a couple of other streaming services and it plays great. Alexa is where this thing shines for me. I’m still learning my way around these assistants (Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa) but I find them more and more useful. Alexa works great when I tested it by streaming music from Apple and Spotify and it was flawless and sounded great. I asked Alexa to check my local weather, turn down the volume and switch to the next track. This thing is pretty awesome and the location I have it in is a room about 21’ x 16’. Ultimately, I will put it in my workout room which is much smaller and I know it will sound even better. The other thing I like about this soundbar is that mounting it underneath the TV will be simple with the template that is included. No brackets necessary. I would recommend installing it into studs if possible and if not, get some drywall anchors. All in all, this is an awesome soundbar and I think a pretty good value.

    GREAT SOUND FOR SMART TV

First off, I like the look of the product. Compact, some great connection options, and Alexa is a bonus. To me, I have a complicated Great Room setup with set-top box, Receiver, Smart TV, LyricQ, DVD player, and surround system. Everything connects through the Receiver. The whole system configuration was setup by Best Buy a few years ago and it works really well. My only EXISTING issue with my setup, is that when I want to watch Netflix, I only need the Smart TV (Samsung Curve 80") and not the Receiver which controls the surround sound. So "sound" has to come directly from the TV (i.e. NOT surround). So getting this Yamaha Soundbar I hoped would correct this poor-sounding situation that I had. AND YOU KNOW WHAT?? It helped dramatically. I connected the TV to the Soundbar via HDMI cable. It's easy to control the volume (when I need to change it) using the remote. I mounted it on the wall, just below the TV's bottom edge, which ends up being at chest-level when I stand up ... perfect for listening across the room. I like being able to adjust the Bass because sometimes it helps with hearing deeper tones. The hardest part of the install was using the really nice installation template and drilling the holes for the screws, which the soundbar hangs from. Nice product that I would highly recommend. Great price, too!

I've never had a soundbar. I've used surround sound solutions over the years but that doesn't always work depending on your room setup. I selected the Yamha 2.1-Channel Soundbar with 3" Subwoofers with Alexa to provide better-quality sound for my wall-mounted TV. The setup of the soundbar was easy. I was able to connect an HDMI cable to the ARC connection on my TV which enables me to control the sound level with my TV remote. I already have Alexa-enabled devices so it was easy to add the soundbar as a new Alexa device in our home. The only downside to the setup is how Yamha (and most every other device manufacturer) requires you to download their App to enable the settings on the device. There are way too many device-specific apps these days. I believe you should be able to control it all on your TV screen. Besides the required App download, I do like the quality of the sound that the device generates. We've been able to enjoy movies with the full effect of the sound bar as well as make adjustments for documentaries where you needed to hear the voice more clearly. There are a lot of soundbars in the market that cost $500 and up. I believe this Yamha soundbar is a great value for this price range.

Not for those with thick accents.

Okay, so where do I begin? My girlfriend, who's Guatemalan, speaks clear enough English to have a full blown conversation with, just doesn't pair correctly with this device. Alexa - Her little Alexa Mini, or whatever it's called picks up her voice with no issues, ever. However, this thing? She's yells "Alexa" at it multiple times before it registers her voice. It was funny at first, but then I realized I bought this for her, and instead it's a piece of junk if you have an accent at all. For me? I have what you call an all around regular american accent, I don't sound like I'm from New York, Boston(Bahsten!) Or from the southern states(I'll tell you wuttt), just plain tone. It works fine. Sound - while this thing is decent for a soundbar, it's decent at best , but not what I'd expect for $200. My Harmon Kardon bluetooth speaker spanks this thing, and it's battery operated! Lol. The bass however, is pretty solid and I do like(in a way) that it's all in one. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed with it, and I really wanted to enjoy this thing. If I wasn't with my girlfriend, or I bought just for me, then yeah, it be okay. But since I bought her this, because it has Alexa built in, and she literally has to say "Alexa" several times over to register it(again, her official alexa mini speaker picks her up no problem), I'd call it a waste of money.

    Great Soundbar speaker

This is a great sounding speaker. It has subwoofer speakers built into the unit, which adds some decent bass. The 3D sound effect works pretty good. There are quite a few ways to connect to the speaker such as Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI, Digital cable, etc. I wish the speaker had a screen showing you the connection and sound effect you have selected. The speaker is pretty good overall, but there is a major flaw. The WiFi connection is not reliable. I had problems trying to setup the WiFi connection using the app. After finally getting it setup, it would lose connection and require me to go through the entire WiFi setup all over again. This makes the Alexa feature unreliable because it requires a WiFi connection. The issue was not just my WiFi because the app that connects to the speaker has very poor 1 star reviews in the Apple AppStore. Quite a few others have complained as well. Other than the WiFi issue, it’s a good overall speaker.

    Awesome little reduced space-driven soundbar

Looking at this soundbar you know up front what you're not getting. You're not getting an external subwoofer (although you can add one). You're not getting something that will truly replicate 3d sound (although it performs well for a virtual surround system). What you ARE getting though is a beautiful all in one solution that can easily have your music thumping or provide full sound for those action packed movies with your TV. It's ability to attach via one connection and just work well is definitely a major point in its favor. The addition of Alexa control built in is a huge plus and I'd question getting one of the large cylindrical AI speakers if you have the space for this. I can imagine at some point with the wall mounting that you might see these spread across a house versus little speakers littering shelves and coffee tables. At the highest volumes the sound does get a little strained but keeping it within the normal range everything sounds clear and well defined. Only fun note is that it does have an auto-shutoff feature if nothing's been played through it in the last 10 minutes. If you're watching youtube videos and scrolling, this can be annoying but it's easily turned off.

Near Perfect; Great addition to any TV

About 6 months ago, we removed the bulky 7.1 sounds system from our family room. (Because we put a Dolby Atmos system in the basement). So we have been living with TV Speaker sound, and it was just not good enough. This Soundbar does the trick, PERFECTLY. With it's built in Subwoofers, it gives enough base and clarity in sound, that the TV speakers just didn't have. First; it is smaller then most soundbars out there, width wise. Maybe a little taller in height, but not by much. Comes with VERY easy to follow instructions and template to mount it to a wall. Also it was designed with mounting flush to a wall in mind, and has deep pockets for all the wires to fit, so they are not crushed. Second, it's LED indicators are small, not overly bright.. and after a while you just don't notice them any more. Easy to use with it's companion remote, or smart phone app. change between it's internal inputs (HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth). The sound is great, in the standard mode, watching TV programs and even some movies are just find. You can toggle on the VOICE clarity for those programs like the news or game shows, and turn on the simulated 3D for somewhat more of a movie field. I don't think I will use the 3D mode often, but will use the voice clarity. The two nitpicks I have: - The companion app does need some help with it User Interface. I am a tech guy and got throw a bit the way they worded the setup screens. - There needs to be a way to 100% turn off Alexa, not just when the power is often. It is not that I am against Alexa (I think I have a dozen of them), it is because I paid this up with an Amazon Fire Cube, so I already have the functionality there.. and don't need another one in the same room. So I changed the Soundbar's wake up word to Echo, to avoid any conflicts. So if you are looking for a smaller, and good Soundbar... You found it

Decent Sound From A Soundbar Only System

This Yamaha 2.1 channel soundbar has some decent sound considering it's a soundbar only solution unless you're willing to pay for a separate sub-woofer. With that said if you have space limitations or want a minimalist setup then this will serve you very well. Just go in with your expectations matching the price point and you'll be all right. Decent sound with fair mids and highs but slightly muddled lows. There are a few different "modes" such as TV, music, movies, etc. that do offer some slightly different audio experiences but to my ears they tend to sound more gimmicky than genuinely useful. Listening to just music is fine and is probably it's best use. Alexa. I'll just say that I am not a fan of Alexa and personally I'm more tied to the Google ecosystem. That being said I did try it out on this speaker. My issues with Alexa have more to do with the service rather than the speaker but it did perform as advertised. Overall, if you're in the market for a soundbar only solution and have the expectations in place for that limited solution then this soundbar will be fine for you. If you want a true "home theater" solution then I'd recommend either getting a sub-woofer to go with this one or look to a more traditional solution.

Overall I am really enjoying the sound of of this soundbar. The clarity and bass are great, especially with no separate woofer. Bluetooth connection to my phone works easily and music sounds fantastic. The only downfall is the lack of HDMI ports. I have satellite tv and a streaming device but could only plug one into the soundbar because the only other HDMI port was taken up by the tv. It would make things much easier control wise, to have more HDMI ports on the soundbar so everything could route through the soundbar to the tv.

I don't write reviews ever. But I am pretty amazed about the level of base this sound bar puts out. I have an outdoor TV and this is attached above it and it is remarkable.
