Still going strong, 5-6 years of constant use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The receiver is easy to work with, very user friendly and the remote has a very simple and convenient layout. The menu options on the receiver display itself and on its TV interface are very easy to navigate. Lots of options and all the wireless options work flawlessly… even the bluetooth and wifi. They only con is, my older Aiwa receiver from the late 90s (1999 to be exact) has much more bass response and higher volume levels… when listening to music and while watching movies. Other than that, it has been a great receiver. After 5-6 years of use, it still works perfectly.

Misadvertised - not two zone as described
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This cannot play music in two zones (rooms) as advertised. Nor does it have 400 watts. These features seem to refer to the more expensive Yamaha model, not this one. I ordered it online expecting these features and had to go to the store to return it after realizing it would not play in a second room. PITA. If you don't care about the second zone, then its probably a good unit - but I don't know since I returned it immediately.

Not suitable for a home theater
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the Yamaha receiver set up by Best Buy Geek Squad, but it never performed very well. we had to return it, and purchase a Sony receiver instead. It did not do 4K upscaling at all, so the setup people had to run the video directly from the cable box to the TV, with audio routed from the TV to the receiver. The video quality was not great from any source. The remote control (which we used until the universal remote was set up) was not intuitive, and not easy to identify sources. Volume control had more increments than would make sense. Connecting the second set of speakers required disabling the surround sound speaker pair. Overall, it appeared to be an audio receiver that they modified for video. The replacement Sony receiver is much better.

Have to return it
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The left side is very quiet when I try to play a CD in my DVD player. Got an error message when I used the microphone to get it equalized. It was also missing an antenna. I was refunded 10% of purchase price.

Get help setting this up
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So confusing- no way to adjust treble or base. Wish I would have had the geek squad set this up because I haven’t been able to figure out all the advanced features and potential connectivity

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The receiver powers on but all outputs have stopped working, I'm using it to drive two speakers and the subwoofer LFE output. What a pain this is going to be.

Fantastic AV receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased from Best Buy in Vestal. This receiver is a solid performer with loads of features which is why I see some not so great reviews. Take the time to download the full owners manual and if you have an iPad get all the Yamaha apps, especially the Setup Guide. First thing, slow down. I know you want plug and play and blow the roof off...no ! Read the manual and use the Setup Guide. It’ll make things easy. Once everything is connected, do your network setup....slowdown. Do it right once and you’ll have a beautiful experience. Did you download the full manual? Use it. After you get everything connected be prepared for a great sound experience. I hope you have good speakers with good frequency response. Good powered woofer connected? Everything in place? Now hookup the microphone and let the unit set itself up. It’s not hard and frankly it does a good job. This unit has great frequency response and as long as your speakers are good, you will be amazed. The bang for the buck is solidly there. The effect toys are phenomenal. It has enough wattage to move walls but enjoy the sound instead. The secret to this receiver is to learn it which will then make it 100% enjoyable. It connects to internet radio, bluetooth, usb, your dvd, your roku unit, older cd and it has enough new and old inputs to satisfy just about everybody. I’m running a 5.1 setup and loving it.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my old Denon with this receiver, didn’t want or need or will probably ever need 7.1 surround. Was very simple to set everything thing up watched a few YouTube videos. I’m definitely not Bashing Denon they make a excellent reciever as well but for what a paid for this Yamaha on sale I definitely got a good bang for my buck! And it Sounds great!

Nice features. Great sound.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only problem is it locks up (ie: front panel AND remote) and sometimes refuses to pass HDMI from selected input to output. Had to connect LG OLED TV directly to Directv box. No Yamaha in loop or else random blockage or signal. Nobody else complaining so...

Nice unit, but did not like Sound Fields, DSP mode
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the unit because I needed 4K w/HDR. The unit worked well for video connections but I did not like the DSP sound fields. Too artificial and unnatural. Traded the unit in for an Onkyo that was on sale, with more features.
