Still learning the system

It Sounds Bad

I had an Insignia amplifier on a set of Bose 210 bookshelf speakers (yes, just two speakers, no surround sound or anything) for at least six years. Sound was perfectly fine on those Bose speakers for what we watch. The Insignia started to fail, so I picked this up figuring that since all I need is simple stereo sound, the bottom dollar amplifier would be just fine. To my surprise, it sounds terrible. It sounds muffled and echoey and tinny and flat out bad. No amount of tweaking and tone adjustment could get it sounding good. I was shocked frankly. That any company would put out an amplifier/tuner that couldn't play simple stereo sound well when hooked to Bose speakers... Yamaha ought to be embarrassed frankly. We're not talking 7.1 Surround here. It's two speakers. I've already purchased a lower end Pioneer model and installed it. The Pioneer model sounds perfect right out of the box.

I bought this to replace an old but powerful receiver purchased about 1980. I am very pleased with my purchase. Like I commented before, I plan on purchasing another reciever like it.
