Worked well with my 5 surround Samsung speakers. My Samsung receiver went out. I picked this Yamaha up at Best Buy on their clearance section (open box). I am not using all the capabilities yet, but so far it is working great.

Yahama has an excellent smart phone app allowing control of most all functions easily. I've purchased 3 Yahama receivers and really appreciate the quality and ease of use via my iPhone. Their tech support is also very good.

I bought this Yamaha stereo a few months ago to replace an older one that the remote stopped working. This stereo sounds great and has plenty of hdmi inputs. I use it daily and so far it has worked flawlessly

Internet ready. Powerful. Great sound. Movie sound is very important to me & my family. This receiver allows you to pick from a laundry list of presets or my favorite is to fine tune the sound.

I've only had this unit for a month but so far I like it better then the Onkyo unit that it replaced. The sound mix through my surround system is better balanced and the voices are easier to hear. There is a calibration microphone which works like the Onkyo and seems to do a better job setting the various speaker levels. I'm not a fan of the remote, however. Rather than having a separate button for each input, there is an up-down set of buttons to toggle through the various connected devices. I'm primarily switching between a DVR and a DVD player which are displayed with cryptic, alpha numeric identifiers rather than by "cable" or "DVD". The inputs on the back are also not labeled. Perhaps there is a way to rename the inputs but I haven't explored the 120-odd page owner's manual enough to know.
