RX-A660 day 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be fair I just got this unit today, but I'm so impressed I had to share about both the unit and sales staff. Short review. The RX-A660 is replacing an 4 year old basic tier Yamaha I have. Setup was simple with the RX doing the hard work, (other than cable connection). Sound is clean & powerful from my X1 & Sonos through my 5.1 Klipsch speakers. Longer review. I went to BB, Corona, Ca., for and X1 related product, but decided to look at UHD TVs & receivers to build a system for the Xbox Scoripo (2017). I was looking at the basic tier receivers when a Magnolia Salesperson (Cody) offered assistance. He further inquired about what systems & speakers I use at home. I also have Martin Logans, REL, Bose, and an EV Live PA system. He suggested I look at the RX-A660 due to my listening and use needs. After previewing the RX I was hooked. Now that I have the system at home I'm ready to upgrade my other two units and some of my speakers. This is only the 1st day, but I'm extremely pleased. I'll be consulting Cody in the future for my Home Theater upgrades.

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had two Onkyo receivers go south in the last seven years. So I decided to try the good stuff. I installed it last night and we were blown away by the sound. Way beyond the Onkyo with the same speakers that came with my first Onkyo. Truly amazing and so much easier to program. Looking forward to a long relationship.

This FANTASTIC AVR works w/HTPC & No HDMI Issues!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver that I purchased in 2009 that has always exhibited HDMI handshake issues with my Lenovo HTPC. I would have to turn my HDTV off and on as well as the Lenovo just to get a picture. It could work after 3-5 times or 10-15 times depending on the day! Quite annoying to put up with, right!? And I was considering for over a year to get the GEFEN EXT-HD-EDIDPN HDMI Detective Plus which has been known to alleviate these kinds of issues, but I just couldn't in good conscience spend $122 just to fix something that should be right to begin with. I have been hearing good things as far as HDMI handshake and Yamaha's are concerned, that's why I bought this receiver. And lo and behold... it works like a dream with my HTPC!!! And I'm talking no matter the order I turn my components on, too! It works FANTASTICALLY! :P And the sound... oh, my heavens, THE SOUND!!! :D

Amazing for any surround sound enthusiast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my 9 year old Onkyo finally failed to produce surround sound from rear speakers, I began a quest for a replacement. Compared several brands, specs and prices and decided that the a660 was all that I needed ( not trying to power a movie theater). At first I was disappointed but that was due to the fact that I hadn't set the functions to the correct sound setting. After finding the right one. and Putting on a good Sci Fi Movie my mind was blown. The Surround sound is amazing, the Music Cast Amazing this is definitely the best system for the price in my opinion. P.S. My Onkyo that cost me $300 more never sounded as good as this.

Good when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is good when it is working, but hardware quality sucks. Intermittently puts out no sound when a few weeks old. Finally fails; in service for about a month so far.

No accessories came
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased an Open-box that was supposed to be in excellent condition with all original accessories and packaging. Mine came with no remote or speaker calibration piece. Should have just purchased new.
