I updated my system for 4K. Selected this receiver due to my happiness with my existing Yamaha receiver. Outstanding product. Setup can be complicated but once done it is wonderful.

First Yamaha I ever purchased in 40 yrs. Always had Pioneer, Kenwood, Techniqics, and Marantz. Happy with it, wanting to run dual subs, eventually. For then I'll have 9.2.4 I believe Have all Bower/ Wilkins speakers. Except subwoofer, which is an older Valodyne

Originally bought the RX-A870 with a pair of Martin Logan Motion 40 Speakers, Dynamo 500 Sub and M8 Center and was initially impressed. However after listening to the system for a week or so I felt it was lacking power or drive when listening to 2 channel stereo music (FLAC Lossless Streaming) and I wasn't getting the best out of the speakers. Movies sounded good with the help of the center and sub speakers. Decided to upgrade to the RX-A2070 mainly for the extra power and now it's a perfect system. This receiver drives the Motion 40's effortlessly. Super rich natural sound with plenty of power when you want it, I could not be happier. Both receivers are feature rich and sound great but if you have motion 40's its' worth spending the extra money to get the most from the speakers. Also recommend going with the Bi-Amp wiring configuration.

I took this receiver home and played with it for a week. I returned it because it doesn't have the sound quality that my old Onkyo does.

I am "upgrading" from a Pioneer Elite SC-75 receiver from 2013. One of the reason I decided to update to a newer receiver for Dolby Atmos, bluetooth and other newer features. Didnt think I would get better sound that the SC-75 but right out of the box this thing sounded amazing! It gave a whole new life to the speakers. After running YPAO it sounded even better. I am amazed at how much clarity and power I am getting from this receiver over the SC-75. Still early days but I am definitely impressed!

This receiver sound and picture is just amazing. The streaming capabilities are great streaming Tidal is almost like listening to a cd. YPAO equalization is a breeze and you have plenty of ways to customize. 8 hdmi 2.2 inputs are plenty. Net access streaming, Bluetooth in and out I don't know what else you would want. Very Happy!

    Yamaha 2070 Review

Purchased an open box 2070 before the 2080s came out. Returned my Marantz 6012 to get the 2070 instead. The 2070 powers all the speakers incredibly well, very easy set, currently running a 5.1.4 and the 2070 has a LOT of options on how you want to run your system and customize to your personal set up. Compared to the Marantz or my old Denon, Yamaha is by far the best choice for power, clarity, and set up.
