    Problems with batteries for remote

After using awhile the remote batteries went dead. I took the batteries out and they are R6-AA zync oxide batteries. They are slightly smaller than standard AA batteries. Normal AA batteries won't fit. They don't make the very old technology zync oxide batteries anymore. I contacted Yamaha and all they did was argue with me. The reception is also terrible. I've got an antenna on roof with a signal booster inside. The reception should be way better than I'm getting.

Great but some nits to pick

I bought this receiver to power a pair of refurbished new Advent loud speakers. I like the power, the low harmonic distortion and the fact it's Bluetooth compatible. But on the down side the frequency response goes down to only 40 HZ. My Advents will handle a true 30 HZ tone if it is actually on the source (such as a vinyl record). But to be honest I can't say I'm not getting the frequency response or not. The volume control feels a little cheesy as compared to the like priced Sony receiver I purchased a few years back. The volume control just feels plastic. One last nit is the speaker connectors did not like the 16 gauge lamp cord I used. Conversely I thought the speaker hookup was a binding posts and the quick connectors were a pleasant surprise. None of these are deal breakers.

Essentially I purchased this to hook up to my Audio Technica LP120 and some Klipsch speakers. I also liked the idea of the bluetooth which could pick up my PC and Laptop in my office, about 50 feet away. I will tell you that this receiver worked out great. The Bluetooth was about the easiest connection I ever encountered. I have run music off my phone, as well as podcasts, and have played music off my hard drive. Granted your PC needs to have blue tooth. The Blue Tooth reception and sound for the files coming off my phone and hard drive has been amazing! Great sound. The records are at lower volume(as is expected) so I just raised the gain on the pre amp a bit, as I am using an external preamp and it sounds amazing. Great receiver and amazing price.

I needed to replace the 30+ year old receiver in my garage so I wanted something basic and inexpensive but with bluetooth. This Yamaha R-S202BL fit the bill. I grabbed it on sale so it was a great buy. Very easy to use and sounds great. I do agree with the comments that you have to turn the volume control a lot for any increase in volume - a trend with Yamaha as I own another with the same trait. The bluetooth works over a pretty normal distance of about 35 feet. I may end up missing the lack of a 3.5mm input connector if a friend wants to quickly plug in to it. The only other thing I miss is the loudness control my last receiver had (to boost bass at lower volumes) - that feature seems to have disappeared years ago. Radio reception is great once the antennas are properly placed. Great deal and recommended for anyone looking for a basic receiver with bluetooth.

Amazing stereo receiver, simple to use and it does deliver very natural sound to the music that you play thru using this receiver, it comes with built in Blutooth which makes it convenient to stream music using your phone or any blutooth enabled device. you can connect 2 set's of speakers if you like or use it to connect a Sub-woofer using the speaker level inputs on the SUB. i am very happy with this Yamaha receiver, it works flawlessly and the sound is truly awesome.

I originally purchased an Insignia 2 channel Receiver. Outstanding value, but iffy on Bluetooth connectivity. I wanted the Yamaha, but let price dictate the purchase. I then returned to Best Buy, had a no hassle return of the Insignia, found the Yamaha ON SALE, made the purchase and have been happy ever since. Better sound quality, excellent connectivity, and more than enough power to drive my Kickers on the deck.

I bought a Klipsch R-125W last Black Friday and have been using it on my home theater surround system in my man cave. It was way too much for there, but I kept it there until today. I bought Polk TSi200 speakers two days ago for use in my home office, where my wife and I both work. The amplifier I was using just wasn't powerful enough for those Polk speakers so the last two days I have been doing a ton of research for an affordable yet powerful and clean amp/receiver. I convinced my wife that I would pull up the Klipsch sub from my man cave if we could get a better receiver for the office. Tonight we went to Best Buy and bought this receiver. I got home and hooked it up to the sub and two bookshelf speakers and WOW!!! Literally I have to keep the gain on the sub way down and not turn up the bass on this receiver. The Polk speakers sound amazing and I hear things in songs I haven't heard before. The sub pounds crazy loud if/when I want it to. We are running it through Bluetooth to one of our PC's that is using a common music streaming service and it sounds AMAZING!!! If you just need 2 to 4 speakers and a sub then this is flat out the best bang for the buck I could find and am so glad the wife said yes!

    Great Stereo

Great little stereo. It is easy to set up and has a lot of features. I mainly use the Bluetooth setting with a new iPod nano and the range is about 45 yards even though the receiver is in a closet. The range shortens to about 30 yards when I go behind a wall. The sound is pretty clear and doesn't distort much even at the max range.

At first, I thought something was wrong as there was no volume. Turns out you have to turn the knob to nearly 40 before you can hear it with two pairs of speakers. Aside from that, the sound quality is good. The Bluetooth requires the remote but it connected quickly with my I phone. Overall, it is a very good basic system which is all I need.

I bought this as a gift for my wife to use in her studio with a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers. It had enough power for them with no problem at all. It is very easy to set up and the controls are intuitive to use. The system sounded good but it did not have a phono input. Not that big a deal if you do not listen to records. I would say it is a great value but you will not be thumping the neighborhood with it.

    Awesome 2 channel sweetness

Bought it today 03/12/21 and got it today from Roadie delivery...in 2 freekin hours...how sweet is that! It has a minimalist design I really dig. The connections are old school and if you're ok with that then it's all gravy. If you're gonna blue tooth it remember this can only be done through the remote...I was getting pretty mad that it wouldn't connect but my son figured it out lol. Hooked up to a pair of Infinity 3001's and just streaming Pandora this thing sounds awesome. This is some of the best money I've spent lately.

This is such a great deal. The receiver is well built and the Bluetooth feature is really convenient to play music. It powers my speakers well and sounds great. Also very cool that it allows for easy biwiring. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a entry level receiver. One thing to note (and may just apply for my speakers) but I have to turn the volume up to around the 30 mark before I can hear any sound at all. This gets plenty loud when it gets to 60-70+ and I’ve never even listened at 100 full volume. Just thought I’d mention that in case others had the same problem, but since all speakers are different of course start at 0 and work your way up. 5 stars all things considered.

This receiver comes with Yamaha's "Natural Sound" technology. You get great mid-range sound - The Harmony that compliments the highs and lows. Add an equalizer and make sure you have a passive or active subwoofer to reach the receiver's full potential. You will get not great sound, but incredible hi-fidelity with crisp voice/ and clear mid-rages. Quality is of High end receiver - PROVEN day in day out. Very Loud that when you put your ears to the speaker it doesn't hurt cause there is very little distortion - pounding clarity that soothes the soul - A BEST BUY for a stereo receiver.

Great garage or barn stereo. It still has a coax port for external antenna (the Sony does not!) Decent power and sound. And even a sleep timer to turn off.
