Very Poor Quality Item

I don't know what the problem is, but a small sign comes up and says "speaker" and the receiver shuts down. IN order to get it to work at all, I have to turn the volume down to almost mute. WHAT JUNK!!

Worst sounding receiver I have ever listened to!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thought I couldn't go wrong with Yamaha. Boy, was I wrong. The sound is downright flat. No dynamics whatsoever. It was supposed to be my garage stereo. I instead connected an old Clarion car head unit to a 35 year old a/d/s/ power plate amplifier with only 40 watts per channel. Now I have punch and dynamics with the exact same speakers. Yamaha and Best Buy should be embarrassed to sell this receiver for any price. I won't even try to re-sell this receiver on Craigslist. I would feel guilty. Wish I could return it but Best Buy won't take it back and you can guess why!

disappointed with this Yamaha receiver

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with this stereo receiver. Out of the box I attempted to set up the FM stereo radio. I couldn't hear anything (even with headphones) I had the volume up to 50 and the FM signal was barely audible...very disappointed I returned the unit to the store for a refund. Quality control in the countries these receivers are manufactured leave a lot to be desired...

I set up the receiver with heavy gauge speaker wire connected to Yamaha NS-6490 speakers. Much to my disappointment there was barely any audible response. Even with volume at 50...I returned the unit to the store for a refund. Very disappointed knowing it was the Yamaha brand known for quality
