I tried to get this thing to work with my system.. tried and tried, to no avail. I just have a 65" Sony TV that's also brand new.

Yamaha, good brand name right? Well, I have had many receivers over the years....Marantz, Sony, Pioneer, etc, etc. Never have I been so disappointed in a piece of equipment/product in that 50 years of purchasing!! 1st: Poor online manual....too much BS and not enough needed info. 2nd: Clunky hook up across various inputs. 3rd: BIGGEST issue......sound clicks out regularly for like 2 seconds and then it comes back in across equipment........What is that? Lastly: NO customer support from Yamaha with multiple contacts until two days after I needed the 'assistance' I get a freaking email. I will never buy another Yamaha and would not take one as a gift.......Period! Best Buy was great on my return.

This is a great product. I have had it for a a week now a no issues.

Sound quality was not that great Bluetooth worked nice this receiver was not for me I got a denon receiver and this denon model is a better unit thin the Yamaha and they are close in Similarity

I bought this receiver thinking it would be the best 5.1 channel receiver for the price but I was disappointed. Even after adjusting every possible setting it sounded completely flat and dull. It sounded like my speakers were being covered with a pillow or something. That must be what Yamaha calls "natural sound". It sounded awful. I took it back and got the Onkyo TX-sr393 for a few dollars less. The Onkyo sounds much cleaner and crisper. "Brighter" than the Yamaha without being too bright. You can actually hear all of the highs and lows much better. I had such high hopes for the Yamaha but I hated how it sounds. More expensive Yamaha's probably sound awesome, but not this one.

The receiver's HDMI output port went bad. Working now to get it replaced. Major headache.

This is a pretty basic amplifier setup for home theater. Not a lot of bills and whistles and kind of clunky interfaces but will work fine for basic use if you're not looking for a lot

I need to get better speakers before I can give this a proper review. I think it is just ok. It doesn't have many features. I will update on sound quality once I get better speakers.

We bought this and returned it the same day. The left channel didn't work, straight out of the box. I gave 3 stars simply bc I know it would have been a good buy, if we hadn't chosen the random one that didn't work correctly.

I bought a Yamaha RX-V385 home theater receiver 29 months ago. It was"open box' so I got it at a low price of$213 instead of $350. Until recently it was adequate. About a month ago I started having a problem with the audio while streaming video. The dialogue cuts out. I can here background music and sound effects but no dialogue. The warranty is up and a repair probably costs the same as replacement.

Everything works fine on the receiver but the Bluetooth. After 2 songs Bluetooth starts skipping and develops chatter. I contacted Yamaha and tried all their options which did not work. I live 50 minutes from the nearest Best Buy and have a 9 month old so I have not been able to take it in to the geek squad. But it’s also disappointing that a brand new receiver is having these issues.

I would have gave it five stars but you didn’t put my receiver in another box ..the box was beat to hell and and cuts in it

As every Yamaha ... works in lab conditions .. But if your HDMI cable is a little bit longer - forget about ARC ... I would go for Onkyo ...

I returned it because it it didn't live up to my old pioneer VSX series. It's gotten good reviews but I wasn't that impressed and went back with Pioneer.

I would highly recommend this for anybody looking for a receiver sounds amazing and a great price to boot

reciever works fine only real issue is i cant get the bt to pickup my phone

Purchase Open box. Should have purchased new. Accentual parts wasn’t supplied. Fm antenna, surround sound microphone and worst the Bluetooth feature works when it wants to which is usually never. My fault I took to long to take it back exchange for new one. This is the second time I purchase open box from best buy an it didn’t work properly. Never purchasing anything open box from bestbuy again
