i was looking for a reasonably priced amp with good sound..used to own a N600 6.1 with bose 16 series 2 and pleased with it. this time for bose 5.1 M6 ..SONY did not work. so do not try sony on bose. this yamaha worked ..

Does exactly what we needed. We have Bose speakers that needed to be connected to TV and other units such as DVD and VHS players.

Easy to use and setup. Perfect for my needs. Good product for the money.

Just set it up so this may be premature. This is the four HT received that I Have owned. First was a Sony (analog only, no decoding), second was a Yamaha (no HDMI), next was a Pioneer that just failed after 9 years. This was to replace it. I bought this since my old Yamaha is still working after 17 years. I may have given it 5 stars except for on critical issue. I set it up according to the manual. STB to HDMI-2, BD player to HDMI-1 and UHD TV to HDMI out into the ARC designated HDMI port on the TV. When I turn the TV on using the STB remote, the receiver turns on originally displaying the STB, but then changes to Audio-1. I get no sound until I use the Yamaha remote to change the input to HDMI-2. Since an HT receiver is primarily used to provide the audio for a TV, having to use two different remotes to get started is rediculus.

still unopened, tried to take it back to exchange for store credit to buy something a little higher end. The gal at the customer service was terrible at her job, i walked away frustrated with the whole interaction.

Highly recommended nice powerful receiver and cheap

I bought a cheap amplifier just to run all my hdmi stuff through one place it lasted about a year and was garbage. This time I spent a little more and purchased this amp. I really like it. I've had other Yamaha before which is why I went with it and I am not disappointed. There are multiple HDMI ports so I can run all the stuff I need through it.

Great value for a 5.1 system. It took some time to figure out how to properly configure with my Samsung 4k TV and LG UltraHD Blu-ray.

It is the Perfect addition to our basement sound system

I needed a newer A/V Receiver because I purchased a new Sony OLED tv and wanted the volume from the TV to control the surround sound system. This was a perfect drop in replacement for my old Yamaha unit as I already had the speakers and woofer. The power off/on and volume control from the tv's HDMI eARC works perfectly.

It works good.My husband wanted it because he cant hear and he puts it on.

Great reciever amazing picture through hdmi great sound

With HDMI Control set to "ON", there is no option to choose HDMI as the TV Audio Input. When I turn my components on, It automatically switches it to AUDIO1, AUDIO2, AV1, etc...therefore having to switch it back to HDMI manually as the source input from the Yamaha remote (I use my Xfinity remote to turn on the entire system and control the STB). Inherent flaw in the ARC system and much discussed in online forums with no resolution that I could find. My workaround is that I disable CEC on my VIZIO TV but that results in the audio signal not going thru the AVR and I have to use the TV volume whenever I watch the smartapps. Inexpensive AVR and does the job but not impressed.

I am very pleased with the cost and the sound quality that this receiver offers. It pushed my 5 channel surround sound with very good clarity.
