I had a previous Yamaha that was 7.1 channel. After a few years it broke down and i now needed a new one. This model was half the cost of my previous one AND it has 4K. if you are running your cable thru your receiver, then you need a 4k receiver; otherwise, you only have an excellent HD picture as opposed to an AWESOME 4K picture. Oh? the sound is going to be relative to your speakers. There are a lot of features on this receiver as well. you can now use bluetooth as well as a plug in headphone.

Excellent so far for the price. I used this to replace a sound bar in my bedroom that quit working. I decided I wanted to be able to listen to music as well in my bedroom and I tried a few other sound bars and just wasn't satisfied with the sound for music. I bought this system and replaced the front speakers with some Sony SSCS5 speakers that I bought for $75 and this configuration sounds really good in my bedroom.

I bought this to replace a Yamaha 5.1 channel receiver that quit working. This one was easy to set up and has some nice features. If it lasts longer than the old one did I will give it an excellent rating.

Excellent budget receiver. I purchased this product primarily for the virtual cinema front capabilities. Due to space restrictions speakers cannot be placed optimally. Using the virtual front setting along with ypao adjustments provide an immersive soundstage. This setup absolutely spanks any sound bar. Five channel stereo setting unleashes a full wall of balanced sound phenomenal for music playback. Only four stars due to lack of support for the MusicCast app and crossover settings cannot be individually adjusted for each channel.

This is a great receiver for the price. Set-up was easy, including Bluetooth connection to my phone. I appreciate the dedicated 3.5mm jack on the front for connecting to sources like an Amazon Echo for streaming audio, which many higher-end receivers do not have.
