Good basic AV receiver.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good sound. DSP works well and allows good range of customization. Plenty of AV ports, easy setup, clear instruction manual. Tuner works very well. Overall good receiver for the price point.

Good little receiver for home theatre.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a 65" plasma mated to a panasonic reciever (if memory serves me) with Klipsch speakers. After 11 years the TV died on us. So I bought another 65" Samsung. I wanted a Yamaha 4K reciever because my brother had one and I liked the sound. So I bought this one for my home theatre setup and a set of good Yamaha speakers to match up with it. I have a technical background and have written several training manuals but I didn't like the way this one was written from the start. Things could be explained much better for all levels of users. I expected surround sound on many of the sound programs. Didn't get it. I had 2 surround programs, a Dolby and a Neo 6, both sounded the same. Excellent through my Yamahas. After awhile it began changing sound programs on it's own meaning I had to reset it for surround sound. Then it completely dropped the Dolby program leaving us only the Neo 6. I am not happy with this. Small things maybe. Otherwise it sounds great. Way more volume than we will ever need in out big living room. Fairly easy to set up especially if one has recent knowledge of surround sound receivers. I have a 65" 4K Samsung, a cable box, a 4KDVD player and 5 Yamaha speakers hooked to it. It can handle more than this I'm sure. It sounds great. Has 4K upscaling for those older movies. For the price I think this is a really good receiver. It checks all the boxes except for issue with the surround programs. And I am hard to please.

Excellent sound output. Excellent connectivity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to upgrade from RX-V373, for HDR and bluetooth. Very satisfied. The sound quality is awesome, with my 100 W speakers from the old home theater in a box. Maybe I need to upgrade to 145 W speakers but it works just fine right now. I specially like the HDMI pass through when the device is in standby. Very useful for saving power when you need just the video. Excellent connectivity options, with ARC support. Haven't been able to read anything from my 400 GB USB hard drive, it just gives an error, but I suppose the file system format may not be compatible (too lazy to read the manual on this).

Perfect all around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible sound for my living room with 14 foot ceilings. Very easy setup and functions if you just read the manual first. After reaserching several home theater packages and sound bars I went to bestbuy fully expecting to pay the $479.99 as advertised online and the package rang up at $435 I noticed a few days later. So I was even happier with the price lol. I went with this package because of the 4k video in/out and Bluetooth option for listening to spotify etc. Once the speakers are in place and set up in your space the YPAO microphone this package came with does all the work for you when comes to sound settings and calibration for speaker distance and db/EQ levels. You just plug the mic in and set it in the center of the speakers at ear level and let it do its thing. Within 2 min my set up was leveled and calibrated to perfection. This package also has a surround sound setting called virtual cinema front that mimics full souround when all the speakers are placed in front of you. I assume for the people that do not have space behind thier sitting space for rear speakers. I did for the fun of it test this out and was surprised how good it really worked. Side note. After looking at several 5.1 soundbars first I noticed until you hit the $300+ range most of the cheaper sound bars didn't have 4k passthrough and you could have a 4k player and tv but only get 1080p for some. In the end for the price and quality I would highly recommend this home theater package to anyone.

Pleased all around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the open box deal, but couldn't tell it from new. Only issue with set-up was connecting 10 speaker wires in such a limited space and awkward angle. Very tedious to insert wire ends into barely accessible holes and tighten wire nuts when wires are in the way, but mission accomplished. Loved the automatic sound setup and balancing. The display showed I had one speaker wired with wrong polarity. Fixed that and tested inputs from TV, DVD, and old VCR. I had to do some research on Vizio TV to get HDMI ARC to work, but I found the right TV settings and everything works great. TV and receiver turn on/off and volume change from TV remote. The TV display even names RXV385 and my Roku on the input list. The sound levels seem perfect from the auto setup. There are so many options that I still have to learn and try, but I am very happy with this unit for the price.

Great user friendly unit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already have an rx-a730 receiver which is a great unit. My sister purchased this rx-v385 and I set it up for her. THIS IS A GREAT RECEIVER FOR THE PERSON WHO DOES NOT WANT ALL THE HIGH TECH FEATURES. It is very user friendly and sounds great. I even got one for myself to use in another room in my house. You can't go wrong with this receiver.

Perfect receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit as a replacement for my previous sound system, which after a number of years and stopped working. I find this system to be more than adequate with many different options for sound programs. Very easy to set up and I use this along with my Bose Five channel speaker system surround sound.
