Yes they are more protective than cheap ones. Yes, zagg will send you another one for free and you only pay 5 and change for shipping. The "idiot proof" installation contraption is also a nice plus.

So far it works great. The case and screen protector work somewhat together but the screen protector can start to create air pockets because of the phone case

If you break your screen, you can easily return it to a Best Buy store for a replacement. Geek Squad can even install it for you.

The first one i bought had the front camera hole not in the correct spot. The 2nd one i bought cracked in the upper right corner a week after placement. Ive always used Zagg screen protectors, but these ones are not acceptable. Its a good thing i can replace for frew at the store i purchased at.
