Customers are saying

Customers praise the ZAGGkeys Cover's keyboard quality, battery life, and ease of use, finding it lightweight and protective. However, some users experienced issues with the hinge's durability and the case's susceptibility to staining, particularly in the white color option. A few also noted challenges with the case's fit and design limitations.

Owned one month, infrequently used and plastic at hinge is broken rendering unit unusable. I like the product. However, if it can't stand up to my infrequent and light usage, the product is useless Sent from my iPhone

The Keyboard broke after less than two weeks of normal use. The plastic came apart by the on/off button. I returned it and wouldn't buy it again.. I was very disappointed as I had a Zagg folio keyboard for my iPad 3 and loved it.

I like it a lot, with one main complaint...

After purchasing my iPad Air the day it was released I've been experimenting with five different keyboard cases. I have various issues with all of them, but overall this one is probably my favorite. It basically converts your iPad into a touch screen Netbook minus a touchpad of course. The keys feel nice (if not a very slightly cheap feel) and have a fast response time, the top row of keys are convenient in the shortcuts they offer, and the backlit keys are super convenient in low light. Despite what others have said regarding the compartment that holds the actual iPad in place, I think it's just fine and secures the iPad properly. It helps keep the low profile of the iPad Air. I wouldn't want to drop it on the ground though as it doesn't offer much in terms of high impact protection, but I'm careful with my things anyway. Unless you have large sausage fingers, it's pretty easy to swipe from the bottom up to access iOS 7's Control Center. It looks exactly like the stock photo shown. Not sure what some other reviewers are complaining over with that. The sleep/wake function of the iPad Air also works with this case which is great. Now the main issue I have with this keyboard case is the simple fact that there's no way to use the iPad Air as a traditional tablet short of removing it from the case. It would've been nice if the hinge rotated all the way around to the have keyboard flush on the backside. Also, the iPad's battery like drains pretty fast when using the keyboard. To be fair though, that was the case I noticed with the other Bluetooth keyboard cases I tried out as well with the exception of the Belkin Ultimate. It seems to always be connected. Even an hour of no use I can tap any key and the iPad will wake immediately. I'm sure it eventually times out and disconnects from the iPad to save battery though. The battery drain I notice is when actually typing though, not in standby. I can always just turn the power switch of the keyboard off if I want to watch movies. With all this said, I like this keyboard case a lot. So much so that I returned it, only to re-purchase it later after trying some other keyboard cases. I've been using it a couple of weeks non-stop and haven't had any technical issues with it, works like a champ.

    Best iPad case!

I got the iPad Air and knew I wanted a keyboard case, and I saw this one. I got it, and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I did. It is a great improvement from the previous version(for the iPad 2, 3, and 4). It opens like a netbook with multiple viewing angles. It is easy to put on and take off, and the backlit keys are the icing on the cake. It doesn't add any noticeable thickness or weight, which is great. The battery life is also fantastic, easily lasting a few weeks with normal usage. The only two down sides are that it is made of cheaper materials, like plastic, versus the leather and aluminum in the previous version, and that the charging cord for it is about a foot long. You must have a plug right there, but then again, it lasts a few weeks, so you atleast don't have to do it too often. Anyway, if you are looking for a good keyboard case for the iPad Air, look no further.

The perfect companion to your new Air.

My iPad 3 and Zagg Folio have been keeping my business life sorted the past couple of years but it was time for a change after I cracked my screen that happened because of the old Folio's design. My new combo bests the old one is every conceivable way. First, the annoyances of the old Zagg Folio are gone - impossible to open clasp, kludgy stand design, bulk, weight and near impossible iPad removal are all gone. Zagg clearly surveyed their users on what was wrong with the old design. The friction hinge design is a huge improvement. No longer will your iPad flop around while you try to get it in the groove and it won't flip over backwards when it slips out (cause of my prior crack). This also solves the clasp problem, simple thumb notch to help you open is all you need. The new design is also incredibly thin and light, I hated adding the bulk to my iPad 3 but I really needed the keyboard and was afraid of weighing down my new iPad Air. Your Air simply snaps into the thin back where it has some thin leather padded protection. Taking it back out is a breeze just pressing out on the corners. Finally the keyboard has a fantastic feel and is incredibly thin as well. Not only that but you have backlit keys as well (simply controlled with its own key on the keyboard). They also added a battery indicator button so when you need to charge is no longer the mystery it once was. Zagg has done a fantastic job with this product, it's a huge upgrade that matches the upgrade of my iPad Air itself. Can't recommend it enough for turning your iPad into a full on laptop replacement.

LightiED keys feature was NOT pleasant to use. It bothered my eyes. I expected the PRO-folio quality keyboard that I had purchased for the ipad 2 and discovered it was wrong size for the ipad Air. Can't you make the PRO - folio for ipad air? Zagg?

I have been looking at this keyboard case for a little bit now and was waiting for it to go on sale, I also read some negative reviews but decided to get it anyway, I am NOT disappointed by this case in any way, its so easy to type on and i love the backlit keyboard for typing in darker areas, they keys have a perfect spring back just like the macbooks and its just so comfortable to use! The hinge on it its also very nice! It doesn't require a flimsy flap to hold itself up and feels just like a laptop. I have had it for probably a week now and I use it everyday for emails, facebook comments, documents etc. The battery is still showing at full and I havent even shut off the keyboard once, the battery draw on the iPad is very low (to what i have seen) I would and have recommend this to friends and family, its VERY useful for extended typing. Give it a try, you will love it!

    PROTECTION!

I could not imagine taking this brand new iPad Air anywhere without this case. It's super solid protection for this awesome, but very thin tablet ... and therefore susceptible to dropping/disaster. The Air fits like a glove, nice and tight (the case also fits previous generations). I LOVE the BACKLIT KEYBOARD, and pairing it to the Air via Bluetooth is a snap. Now, one must understand that such a case would add some WEIGHT to the iPad, and this is correct. There is a tradeoff for protection. In summation: I LOVE THIS CASE! If you want peace of mind when moving your Air about, and want the capability to TYPE on a REAL keyboard, then I would recommend this case.

I do all my work email and Facebook on my iPad. Had read this was just a so-so keyboard but decided to chance it. I love it. Have not had any problems. I'm a quick typist and find myself able to type flawlessly. I am pleased with the construction, feel that it protects my tablet very adequately. I am still not sure how it gets recharged. I use the keyboard almost exclusively with the iPad so I'm thinking I may need to recharge it sooner than the normal user. If you are looking for speedy use, this is a good choice.

    Great Overall Keyboard Case

Really have enjoyed the case so far! The only I complaint so far that I have is that the "A" key seems to get stuck every now and then. Other than that, I really love this case. This might sound like a "duh" but now that this case is on the iPad, I type a LOT more on it. My use of the iPad has changed because of the case. I'm really enjoying it and I would recommend it for anyone else considering a keyboard case.

I bought this thinking that it would be better than using just the touchscreen on my iPad Air and I was soooo right! I love it. It's like carrying a little net-book and so lightweight! The keys are lit up so working in the dark is made easier and more convenient. It literally functions like a mini laptop. The only pitfall I see is that the back of my iPad Air is exposed and not in a protective cover.

I agree with other reviewers. In order to use the smart center?, I have to turn the case sideways. The location of the hinge will not allow me to swipe up. This is a pain because I use an alarm clock on my iPad. I have to turn the case sideways to dim the screen. The keyboard has a very good feel but does add CONSIDERABLE weight to the iPad. Additionally, IMHO, the iPad does not fit well into the case - it kind of sticks out around the top. I will purchase another type/brand of case as others become available.

Upon approaching my Charlotte Bests Buy, I was skeptic about the availability of type cases. Traditionally, I have used ones that were manual adjust. Enters the hinge... Zagg has just created a new standard for these type cases. The friction hinge is truly something one can only appreciate by using it. While it's true, you can't use in portrait, they make the iPad easy to pop out and use on the fly. Finally, the inclusion of a backlit keyboard is icing on the already delicious cake. The key lights can be set in three modes, and light up the keyboard quite nicely. I frequently write emails in the evening, so I'm sure I'll get lots of productive use of this feature. Zagg, you did us good. You've created an amazingly thing companion that protects my iPair while making it incredibly fun and joyous to use. You're still reading? You buy this thing!!

Purchased as a gift for college student. He loved it. Much faster for using iPad than the touch screen for larger products needed in school.
