The Zoom IQ 6 probably deserves a 5 for recording quality and the fact that it includes an earphone jack so you can monitor the recording if you use their app. The earphone jack is critical for me because I am a blind user and need to be able to hear VoiceOver while using the iPhone. The reason I only gave it a 4 is that there is no way to use it with thicker cases like the Otterbox Defender. You have to take the iPhone out of the case to use the microphone. But it is worth it. I wish they would come up with an extension cable and a mini-stand for the mic.

Brilliant solution to making the iPhone a much better recording device! I love the directional approach, and the fact that they pull power from the lightning port rather than requiring batteries. As it turns out, I wish the mike pivoted because while I thought I only needed it for sound recording, it's very useful for video as well. The microphones in this model are oriented in the plane perpendicular to the camera, and I wish I could pivot them 90 degrees to point the same way as the camera. Still worked very well for a video recording, though.
