Great addition
|Posted .If your a musical lover like myself, then make sure you add this to your movie collection. It's a great classic, with awesome musical numbers, and beautiful visuals. Loved the movie but didn't own, so finally bought myself a copy with my $5 reward certificate. Not only is it a Blu ray, but it also has a digital copy, which you can put on your phone or iPad and watch on the go. Great addition. You won't want to miss this one.

Great movie. Only wish it was bundled with a CD.
|Posted .Glad to get this by mail order. Stores only had blue ray versions. Bought as gift for my mom who still knows all the lyrics & sings them. We went on the Sound of Music tour in Austria a couple of years ago. Only wish there was also a CD as she needs someone to show her how to change her TV input mode & start the DVD.

It's been restored... but It's still a musical
|Posted .My Wife and I had seen it as children, but never like this, and not together.. Restored and in Blu-ray and Digital formats, its almost like watching it on the big screen again, and did I mention the Dolby 5.1 sound soundtrack... its actually probably better than its original debut... :) and way better than we remember seeing it on TV...

STILL GREAT!
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendI saw this when it came out in '65. Three years later, I took a study tour of Germany and Austria, and when we visited Salzburg, we went to the grounds of the Von Trapp home as seen in the movie. It's still a popular tourist attraction. This was BY FAR my mom's favorite movie; she could watch it over and over..... It had been a number of years since I watched it, so when I saw the 50th anniversary edition, I had to buy it. Very few films can do whet Sound of Music did: it brought several tears to my eyes. I found myself singing along with the songs. IF you want an UPLIFTING, SWEET flick, but also with some action and suspense (even though we know how it turns out), this is a GREAT WATCH!!!

Superb film and great music.
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This is such a timeless film. The music is amazing. I absolutely love the film and so does my family. I bought this as a gift and it is always welcomed to watch this movie again. The story and the music really is so darn good. The disc set was a blu ray disc and a digital copy, all went smoothly claiming it all, no complaints here.

Blu-Re-Mi!
|Posted .After years and years and years of watching The Sound of Music on VHS and DVD, I thought I knew every blade of grass and every gust of wind visible in the movie. How wrong I was! You don't realize how much picture is lost with standard 480p releases until a monumental blu ray transfer like this comes along and provides a home viewing experience that literally feels like seeing the movie for the first time. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best blu ray I own - and not just because The Sound of Music is probably the greatest movie ever made, but because the picture quality is truly that beautiful. And that makes sense, considering the movie was filmed in 70mm and could contain so much more data than ordinary 35mm. Also, from what I understand, the restoration process was taken extremely seriously and done with the highest technology possible. There's a reason why so many artists are pushing blu ray, and it's because for the first time people can experience their creativity and attention to detail, as it was meant to be seen. There is SO much detail in this movie. Seriously, if you loved this movie before you will have your mouth dropped open the entire time you sit through it in high definition. And the Audio quality! I didn't even know it was possible to make ancient audio files sound brand new, but it clearly is. Every song sounds 1000000x better than my old CD soundtracks. Add in surround sound... heavenly. OVERALL: I don't care how many VHS or DVD copies you have of this movie sitting around, you NEED this blu ray. It's not just a restoration, it's a transformation. You cannot have truly experienced The Sound of Music at home until seeing it in 1080p. Not to mention it's cram packed with amazing extras that are actually watchable. In case you can't tell, this BD just makes me so happy. If you appreciate the movie (or bless you, never seen it before) you MUST experience it on BD!
