4Very happy with this range
PostedCarol188This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - White
I've been using this range for 5 months & am very satisfied. It's easy to operate & clean. The center burner is really nice with the griddle on it. The teflon-coated grates still look good. All my baking came out great. I believe the oven temp is spot- on whatever it's set at. The main things I was looking for in a range was a broiler drawer & heavy cast iron grates that are not painted/enameled/porcelained. This was the only one that fit the bill for me. I was disappointed that I didn't have much of a choice, but this range is perfect for me. I do wish I could set the burners to simmer lower than they allow, like my old pilot light range, but I think that's just how it is with electronic ignition, unless it has a special low simmer burner. That wasn't high enough priority for me to reject this range. I just stir more frequently. The only other problem, which I consider minor, is the cheapo broiler rack that you can hear warp with a clang whenever the oven gets hot.I never put food directly on that rack, I use my own broiler pan to put onto that one. It works fine & the food broils up great. I prefer broiling to pan frying & my old range had a broiler drawer, so that was high priority. Do not store anything in this drawer! Even if just the oven is on, it still gets hot. You can broil & bake/roast at the same time, but the broiling will take a little longer because you're using the oven temp instead of the high (525) broiling temp. It's a shame broiler drawers are getting hard to come by. Most ranges now broil from the top of the main oven part because of the self-clean feature. I never wanted a self-cleaning oven because they get too hot, so why pay for it? I think this range is a good deal, because I got what I wanted without having to go high-end & having to pay for a bunch of features I don't need. However it looks kind of high- end because of the continuous grates that stick up from the cook-top more than usual. This makes it easier to move pots around & to clean & to see the flame under a pot. I cook almost every day & bake frequently & have no problems with this basic range.

1DON'T BUY THIS OVEN
PostedMommaBeeThis review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - Stainless-Steel
I checked the ratings before we purchased. Since the overall rating was over 3 stars, we thought it would be good. This oven was on sale and my son (who likes to cook) thought the griddle would be great. It's not! The griddle is beveled up on the cook surface, the edges should be beveled up! He went to make an egg, which on a normal flat surface will stay, on this it rolled right off. This was not the biggest problem. Only one side is power burner, if you want to boil two things using the back burners, which is what I do because I have small children, the right side won't boil only simmer! This stinks! Also, you can't fit to two frying pans on the same side, there isn't enough room and the front pan hangs over the edge. The handles heat up terrible because of the funky high double grates. We did not buy the self-cleaning oven because it did not have the griddle, but the griddle is basically useless and can only cook grilled cheese sandwhich on it. You can't grill veggies, which is why we wanted it because of the way the griddle bevels up on the cooking surface. Stay far, far away from this stove!!

1Too many things went wrong with this stove/oven

This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - Stainless-Steel
My original Whirpool stove was acting up after 10 years. So I decided to replace it with a new stainless steel model. The first one I ordered never showed up but that is not Whirpool's fault. Best Buy store/support could not tell me what happened besides being "in transit". So I cancelled the order after a month and ordered the same model online. Another month later it was delivered on-time. However, this second stove did not have a working broiler. Also it did not have self-cleaning which we knew from the start, but apparently that also means it is not sealed properly so when you use the oven it heats up the entire kitchen - and the glass door can burn you. So another adventure with Best Buy support until we arranged to exchange it for the same model. Again, it is special order so another month goes by. The third one was missing a screw so the entire heating assembly between the oven and the broiler was loose, making both unusable. Also when the installer was setting it up he noticed the shoddy workmanship and bad quality throughout. So, after more fun with Best Buy support and store finally we got a different model from Samsung. Best Buy would not repair it and I was not going to repair a brand new stove. We could have exchanged it, but then that would be another month before we get another Whirpool with some other defect. Seems that the factory is rushing these out without making sure they are assembled correctly or actually work. Also quality control should have caught these defects. That is a shame because there are a lot of good reviews on this model; however, Whirpool quality has gotten worse.

3Oops, I bought a Whirlpool
PostedPeepsdiegoI was so focused on a unit with 5 burners that I overlooked the product is a Whirlpool. I have not had luck with this manufacturer in the past and try not to buy their product b/c of their customer service and the product doesn't tend to last as long as others. Because this was a special order product it was delivered through Whirlpool, not Best Buy. It got lost and nobody could locate it which was extremely frustrating. We didn't even have the unit and we were having problems. Once it was finally delivered, a switch was never flipped so the oven wouldn't work. We had to have a warranty job on something we hadn't even used yet. The customer service through Whirlpool is awful. The unit has been good so far and it looks great but it's not worth the bad attitude and sarcasm if you have a question or a problem. Even if this unit works for 20 years and I love it, I will never buy Whirlpool again.

3Good entry level gas range
PostedRC66This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - Stainless-Steel
It is a good entry level gas range with some nice features (griddle and stainless steel finish). However, theer are a few "little" items that I think could be better. 1) You can see insulation through the vents in the door on the oven. Not a big deal, but when you get a nice looking stainless steel range, you would like the little things to look nice too. 2) The burners sometimes will not light on the first try. I have to play with the loose diffuser on the top and then they will light. 3) Being it is a new product, one would think that it would not put off as much heat when you use the oven, but it does. Overall, not a bad product, but not a good one either. It will do what you want it to, but if you put in a little more money, I think you will get a little better product.

2Underwhelmed with performance
PostedracurleyThis review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - Stainless-Steel
The stove looks great. However, the burners max at at 8,000 BTU on the "power burner". The others are 7,000. Takes over 30 minutes for a pot of water to boil for pasta. Then, it never reaches a rolling boil. Also, I was expecting a gas burner to be highly adjustable. The flame height barely adjusts as you turn the knob down. Rather than a steady adjustment from high to low, it seems to step down across 4 heights. Even then, it is almost indistinguishable. I don't care for the broiler either. Hard to move it from below the oven. Had it inspected by the repair guy and he said it is what it is. This one's going back to the store. Going to upgrade to a different model.

5Best deal in it's price range - Looks expensive
PostedAnonymousThis review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - Stainless-Steel
I did quite a bit of research before buying this gas stove. I wanted a stainless look but I was on a very tight budget. All the gas stoves I liked were priced $1,250 and above. I looked at Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy, Amazon and various other places but II found this deal online at Best Buy and it was the nicest with the best features for it's price. I went into the Best buy store and asked if I could order it through their store....which I did. I was very delighted when the stove came - it looks really expensive and works very well. I like the warming/broiler drawer a lot as I never had that feature before with my older gas stove.

1Cheap Stove
Postedgwc89This review is from Whirlpool - 30" Freestanding Gas Range - Stainless-Steel
I thought I was getting a great deal for the price: 5 burners, griddle, but so not true. The back of the stove (where oven controls are located) gets so hot you can't touch it (even when just using front burners). And, it is cheaply made--loose. The grates are uneven, and set way too high from the burners. So much for sealed burners-they are not. The griddle is teflon, not cast iron. Frying pans & larger sauce pans do not fit on back burners. If not for the power burner, it would take a long time to cook anything. Totally disappointed!
