Aliens vs Predator
Aliens vs Predator lets the player partake in three campaigns as either a Marine, Alien, or Predator. The game also features a survival mode and online multiplayer, but lacks splitscreen support.
Great – The sound effects and weapons were spot on. The marine’s main assault rifle and the aliens hiss and scream made me feel like I was living out the movie Aliens especially when I would hear my motion detector go off and not know exactly where the alien(s) actually was/were. The weapons for both the marines and predators felt like they were taken directly from the movie. Whether you’re getting your hands on a Smartgun and lay waste to aliens or find the predators shoulder cannon and decimate foe from afar, all the weapons felt authentic. Also, the finishing moves for the aliens and predators are gruesomely amazing. Impaling your second mouth through a humans head as an alien or ripping off someone’s head with their spine still attached is a bloody, awesome sight.
Good – The game has a huge amount of control configurations to ensure that pretty much any player type can find something that suits them. The online play is a load of fun and has several different game modes. One of the best online modes is infestation in which all players are marines except one. The one remaining player is an alien. Once the lone alien kills a marine that marine then becomes an alien and the game ends when all marines are defeated or the last surviving marine manages to stay alive. This proved to be very entertaining.
Neutral – The length and story of the campaign are nothing impressive, but they are also far from a big hindrance. If you think you are going to play this game and get wrapped up in a huge, plot twisting story, then think again. This game is geared towards brutal kills and being able to play as two of the best science fiction villains of all time.
Bad – Some things in AvP just seemed off. The ability to crouch, the ability to zoom in to iron sights with at least the pulse rifle, making the flares last longer than 4-6 seconds, a better direction pointer for objectives, and taking out the ability to block would have been nice changes/additions. The first time I played as an alien and smacked a marine with my tail and saw that he blocked it my jaw almost dropped. Most of the blocks and counter attacks seemed out of place for this type of game.
Terrible – Nightmare difficulty… is well, a nightmare. I found it more frustrating than fun most of the time. This was due to the lack of any checkpoints. It was never too challenging, but when I would get killed in one shot and have to go back and play the first 20-30 minutes of a level again, to most likely get one or two shot killed randomly again, while being forced to listen to the same dialogue over and over again. It became aggravating to the point that I didn’t even feel the slightest bit motivated to beat it anymore.
Overall, I enjoyed the game. It did a huge amount of things right in terms how the different species played out. The campaign was short (definitely longer on nightmare), but was fun even thought they used the same locations for each of the species. Online is a blast and is definitely worth some of your time. If you are a huge fan of Alien and Predator then I am sure you will enjoy this game and even if you aren’t I am sure you will find it entertaining as long as you enjoy good FPS-esque gameplay.

First off having been a huge fan of the Alien and Predator movies I was incredibly excited to hear they were coming out with this game and if you are like me in that aspect don't read any reviews just play the game because it is worth it.
If you are not a huge fan of the movies than you might find this game a little unfufilling. The game is fun; but you can defitinitely tell that it could be so much better. The alien missions are incredible until they become predictable. You shouldnt play this game just to be a marine. The predator is so powerful but you never feel that you take advantage of everything that you could do as a predator.
I'm a die hard fan and I loved playing the game. If you aren't as serious about it as me than you may not enjoy it as much as I did. But the game is definitely worth playing! Im not a huge gamer but once I started I couldn't stop playing it. The multiplayer is where the action is at if people are actually trying to act like their class. For instance an alien just doesnt run into a room filled with marines like its weilding a gun and is gonna take out everyone. Try and play your character and you will have a blast online!!!

I thought that it would be cool, and man it is fantastic. All the sounds are just like each of the movies, and the graphics in 1080p are so wild, just going to each different Predator vision modes, eveything is great. Online is real fun to, hard at first, but real cool.

I overall enjoyed this game. The single player for me was decently long. Its fun and original. Don't even bother with Nightmare difficulty.
