Archos - Refurbished 5 16GB* Internet Tablet - Black

After hours of reading reviews and research about internet tablets, I decided to pull the trigger on this one. I haven't been able to put it down since. I've almost completely stopped using my home PC and use this device for everything. The screen resolution is amazing. This will play movies in full 720p-HD !! It's absolutely the best media player ever, but has wifi or bluetooth cell-tethering for internet access. Very fast and snappy. There are millions of apps for it since it uses the Google android linux OS. The touchscreen is accurate and sensitive. It has GPS that works great. Now has OpenGL video support with transparency, shading, and other stuff. You can get some very nice looking games for it. This thing smokes any Apple ipad, iphone, or any other apple device. The media play can play streaming videos, internet radio, podcasts, mp3's, pretty much anything. Watch Youtube videos in HD!! Check your email, keep all of your contacts in one place... create, and edit word documents, view pdf files, ssh to your domain server.... Has a built in FM tuner with RDS, but I prefer internet radio, especially since it needs headphones plugged in for the FM antenna. Although, if you were using it while jogging or whatever, you would already be using the headphones. Archos has their own app-store where you can search and install free and paid applications, but you can also load the "android market" which has millions of other free and paid apps. You can purchase upgrades for it like a DVR station, to record video from TV or cable. Or play videos on your TV in full 720p-HD. You can get a helmet camera to record video of anything. Most people use it for skydiving, rock climbing, any action sport where you need a small mounted camera. You can get a bluetooth receiver for your home stereo and play all your music wirelessly while u sit on the couch. It's great for parties and such. They have a few other add-ons, but I forget what they are. You can run programs like VNC, RDP, and other remote desktop applications to control your PC with this device from anywhere in the world. You can use voip with this device. Google voice and Skype work on it. This device will replace your mp3player, gps, internet radio, dvr, streaming video, tablet pc.... and maybe your home pc. This is the best purchase i've made all year. I can't say enough good things about this device. I absolutely love it and I believe it's the best pocket-sized tabletpc out there. Most everything in the world smokes apple products, but this totally kills it. Apple doesn't even multitask... this does. I never expected the Archos5 IT to be this awesome..

This my pocket sized internet Wi-Fi companion. I fire it up when I am watching TV or reading a book or newspaper & want to look something up on Google. If I am at a free Wi-Fi restaurant, I access mobile versions of Yahoo or Youtube. I CAN NOT access Hulu (Flash 10+) sites. Otherwise, I am happy with this product!

The software disc that came with the device did not work. I tried to download and install from website - no luck. Called tech support and was disconnected 6 times. When speaking to tech, I mentioned that I was disconnected several times. He said quote "That isn't my problem, do you need something?" I told him "I don't appreciate your attitude." he said have a nice day and hung up on me!! I called right back and he picked up and hung up on me again. lol. Worst display from any customer support team I have ever witnessed in my short 15 years in I.T.
