Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Xbox 360 (53 out of 60)
Too much of the same. Worst storyline, yet.

A clear downgrade from Brotherhood and AC2
3
Posted by: from Brooklyn, NY on 05/05/2013Revelations is just a side-story that feels entirely unnecessary. The entire game reeks of "been there, done that". The game introduces very few new features that are not even good. The story advances at a snail's pace and only shows a glimpse into Desmond's life - nothing else. The gameplay has hardly changed and will leave you feeling very bored. Ezio is unfortunately an old man and it shows. He is no longer the interesting protagonist that we met in AC2. Everything about this game just feels old. The multiplayer is just as good as ever, but unfortunately it is not enough to redeem this game. The graphics and soundtrack are fantastic. Ultimately I can't recommend this game unless you are a die hard fan of the AC series and you absolutely need to play this.

Closes the Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy
4
Posted by: from Ohio on 04/17/2013I enjoyed my time with AC:R and would recommend it to fans of the series, if just for some of the story content. The great part is it closes out the Ezio Trilogy, and shows him in his later years in life. Still, the amount of familiarity you experience is a little disappointing - and you will have to have played "Brotherhood" to completely understand the mechanics. You play in a new city, interact with new characters and a "new" story yet I rarely felt that I was doing something that I hadn't done multiple times in the previous games. To put it bluntly, the game play is starting to get stale. There were some frame-rate issues, but we are late in the XBOX's life cycle, so that is to be expected. Bomb crafting is new to the series and I will be concise. It can be cool at times, but it feels forced and is overall completely unnecessary to succeed in the game - and I rarely used the bomb crafting mechanic ever, especially considering the vast amount of options you usually have (hiring factions, ranged weapons, calling in assassins). Mediterranean defense returns but once I promoted Master Assassins to guard my dens, I never bothered with it again. "Missions" take only a few minutes and you eventually realize you're spending a lot of time sending your assassins out to do things that don't really pertain to the story and the game. The multiplayer has been greatly improved over Brotherhood, and it is worth it for the experience and variety. It is a nice change of pace from your standard first-person multiplayer shooter, but it still doesn't have that spark that would keep me playing for more than a week or two. For the price that the game is right now, this is definitely worth the price of admission, and you can definitely get 10-30 hours of game-play out of this game, depending if you are a completion fiend or not. Not the best in the series, and I would say it is a 3.5, not a 4.
