This game is terrific. If your wondering what to get your kids for Christmas (and your thinking about getting this) I highly recommend it. It is fun to play, not very difficult on the easy setting. (my 8 year old niece can play it) and very challenging on the other settings. Good variety of songs and Graphics are great. You can all gather around and watch the kiddos play and even give it a try. Fun to be had by all!!

Great game marred by achievements

If you had fun with either of the previous Guitar Hero games or Rock Band, you will like this game.
This time around their is a little story line to go with the single player mode. You are a guitar player for an up and coming band that hires a new manager that helps you work your way up to superstar status. I'll leave it to you to find out who your manager really is, but the plot twist is devilish.
The gameplay is the star of the show as it is great fun playing the songs with the guitar control. The game does get difficult fast as even on the medium setting the game gets difficult for the last set and Hard and Expert setting is for well seasoned players.
My biggest gripe comes with the way the achievements were implemented. There is an achievement for beating the game using your opposite hand, and while this isn't that difficult on Easy it's still tedious. There is also an achievement for beating the game on Hard or Expert while just using a standard 360 controller. Considering that the reason this game is fun is because you get to use a simulated guitar this achievement is pretty stupid. The multiplayer achievements are just as dumb. When you team up with a friend to player multiplayer, only player one will get achievements for playing through a mulitplayer career. This means for you both to get the achievement you would have to play the career twice, and add in that their are achievements for both playing the bass and lead that means 4 play throughs. Dumb.
But this is still overall a fun game.

For the fans...

The 3rd proper entry in the Guitar Hero franchise (Rocks the 80's doesn't count), GH3 is a game for the fans. The track list is the best yet, and includes a lot of master tracks. The venues are more interesting then ever, though the game’s flow has not changed much, as the career still unfolds in the usual way. However, you will now encounter “Boss Battles” against guitar virtuosos such as Slash, but unfortunately these aren’t much fun. As I said though, the core game is pretty much unchanged from previous entries in the series, so you can still expect a solid, fun game. The new wireless Les Paul controller made for this game is excellent, with a nice strum bar and solid feeling buttons. The main thing I would lodge against GH3 is the extreme nature of the game’s difficulty. Most any practiced player will be able to glide through on the Medium setting, but Expert, and even just the Hard settings are so difficult that only hardcore players will have the patience to get through them. At least now Hammer ons/offs are much easier to do now, and the notes that can be performed with this technique are even highlighted, but despite this, many of GH3’s complicated, dissonant riffs will crush all but the most dedicated players. Still, in the end, GH3 is a great game, and if you like GH, it’s still a no-brainer to pick this one up.

This is a great way to rock out at home and a blast doing it. Some songs are better than other. I wish they would put out some more downloadable tracks, but they do have a variety to get. I consider myself pretty good at this game, but the expert level is beyond me. This is much more fun when you play with someone else whether it be at home or online. Great game!!!

This game is one of the best games ever.It has wonderful graphics and gameplay is great. You are allowed to do lots of things with this game. The multiplayer is one of the best things about this videogame. You also get to pick through lots of characters.
The only bad thing is in the start of the game you get the same characters as all the others. The game doesnt have any reported glitches so gameplay is smooth sailing. You also get to pick through lots of new songs.
This game is really worth your money if you buy it.
I recommend this game to every gamer and to people who are looking for a good challenge.
Thanks for reading.

I just about broke my gutair, by rockin on this hopin game! This is a game I just can put down as soon as I start and the graphics are sweet! Expecsialy in HD. The game is the same as it was before as far as controlls but considering everything else, nothing was left unchanged. The songs were amped to the next to the level and the places you go to, and even the guitarists you battle, are soooooo sweet that you just rock the night away. Trust me, this game is something you don't want to live without playing.

This is a great game in a great saga. It has to be the best for graphics and songs. Also when you've beat it the harder levels will feel like a whole new game. Then theres the multiplayer, which is a lot of fun. but not only can you battle and co-op you can also campaign co-op which will unlock new songs otherwise unlockable. You can also download new songs.
I would definately recommend this to everyone. Once you own it you'll pick up on how it works and its a great family game.
