Reasonable Price; Works Well

Posted by: MultipleUsers from Danville, CA on 05/03/2013Comcast supposedly upgraded the speed on their Xfinity internet service and indicated that in order to best way to achieve these download speeds was to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 router. The install of the Motorola unit was easy, and the cost wasn't too high. However, I don't think the difference in download speeds is substantially improved.

no more router fees

Posted by: hecbrz from moval on 04/21/2013i have twc and there lease for router is ridiculous and dumb that's why i purchase this router and with the return fee i was able to upgrade my speeds up 20mbps/2mbps love it no more lease fee the price of it was high compare to ebay but i use my credit card so didn't bugged me that much buy now pay later get points get money rewards works out for me

Fantastic modem at a great price

My only gripe is the thing tends to get pretty warm/borderline hot.

Best Cable Modem

Great Modem If Your ISP Supports It

Posted by: AfromNC from NC on 04/13/2013I'm very pleased with this modem and would buy again. It provides a consistently solid connection from Charter, my ISP. I have read that ISPs tend to upload their own customized firmware to the modem and that there can be major stability issues with Comcast.
Make sure to keep the modem in a pretty well ventilated location as it does put off some heat. You might also need to call your ISP and provide the MAC address listed on the bottom of the modem for a successful internet connection to be established.

Does not work with Comcast

It would have random periods where it would time out losing connection. Regular internet users would not notice this. If you were streaming video or playing online games you will notice as you will lose connection. If you ran a ping test with -t you would see over time "Request timed out" at random but sometimes frequent intervals causing packet loss and lag. Had Comcast to the home 3 times believing it was on their end. Frustrated I went out and purchased a Zoom Model 5341J which was cheaper. After getting it set up with Comcast, I have not had a problem since and my upstream and downstream are significantly faster than this motorola modem. I liked the interface screen for the motorola modem - it gave more information but the motorola modem and Comcast are just not compatible. Save yourself much frustration, you have been warned.

Easy to install and good strong signal!

I have a home office which sits far from my modem and the signal was very weak. After I installed this devise, which was easy to connect, the signal was fast and strong. I was told by the sales rep that if the signal has to pass through the kitchen sometimes it can get lost, but this devise had not trouble with any of that. I can now do my work without losing connection every minutes. Love it!
