Wise choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I were hoping to purchase more energy efficient appliances. We had the chance to purchase this washer for a little more than half the price, with even more Best Buy incentives at that time. We have had this washer for a little over two months now. No issues thus far. Unit is very quiet. the biggest seller for us was the fact that it uses such a little amount of water during it's wash cycles. We are on a septic system here with a high water table. It is very quiet and washes clothes noticeably better than the top loader we had. The wash cycle itself seems longer than the washer we replaced, but it seems to be at rest a lot of the time. The washer is very nice looking. We did not stack the items, nor purchase the lower drawer which is way over priced! We spent a couple of dollars on wood and built our own platform to our specs. Unit is in our unfinished basement next to the matching dryer which I've also reviewed.

Wonderful washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is almost silent. The only noise it makes is when it pulls water from the pipes, or when it drains the water, and all that noise is mostly from the plumbing. The clothes come out very clean. The only problem is that the drain hose is short, and it is not easily replaced with a standard host from the hardware store. This makes placement very difficult when the drain is on the right side of the area, since the door opens to the left, and the door on the maching dryer opens to the right. Thus, the doors are back-to-back making it inconvenient to move the wet laundry into the dryer. Curiously, the dryer door is reversible, but the washer's door is not. The only option that leaves is getting a new drain put in. Samsung does not sell a drain hose extension, either, which would also have solved the problem.

Great Washer !!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this washer 3 months ago and it is working really efficient and quiet. Energy star rating is super. I read couple negative feedback about the washer before I bought but I really don't understand why did they write those??? Most likely they have no idea about the electronics and could't use the washer properly. Design and quality are A+ really nice engineering. Results are nice to my clothes come out really clean and soft. Just ignore the negative feedbacks this machine is amazing.

Great Washer!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this washer for 3 months have been very happy with its performance. It has many cycles and temperatures for different types of clothing and i have been very pleased with the steam feature. My clothes have never been cleaner and come from the washer almost dry, which saves energy cost. It is a top of the line washer but I bought it when it was almost 50% off. A great bargain at that price.

Excellent washer for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I were looking for a more energy efficient washer and dryer. The washer and dryer set was selling for about half the price at Best Buy. We read various reviews, checked other stores, compared other brands and prices prior to selecting this washer. The washer is very quiet, uses very little water and has multiple cycles available. Our laundry comes out cleaner and takes about 1/3 less time time to dry. Though jeans tend to take about the same amount of time to dry. The big down side of our purchase was pedestals were not included and they cost over $200 a piece. We decided not to purchase them.

Buy the extra warranty you will need it!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first six months this washer performed very well. In the last six months we have had 7 service calls. We are awaiting our 8th service call. The washer will not balance so it will not go through the spin cycle. Even without clothes and started on spin only cycle it wobbles and shakes. They have replaced the vibration reduction system, the main circuit board, and other electrical parts. The repair person admits the tub will not balance, and wobbles like mad, but Samsung insists it's an electrical problem and wants to keep changing electrical parts. It's very frustrating. Again, if I would have rated this in the first six months of ownership it would have been a very favorable review.

I love this thing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say that this maching is so great, I told my wife that all I want out of our divorce are the new washer and dryer! Just kidding. However, the machines are really good. Originally, I purchased LGwm2501. The one thing I knew about these front load machines was that they were supposed to be super quiet and make your clothes super clean. Well the LG got my clothes clean but was not the quietest machine in the world. I actually thought something was wrong with it. BestBuy sent someone to check it out and though the machine kept making this sound like I threw a bunch of padded loose screws in themachine, the tech found nothing wrong. the machine is on the second floor of my home and i could hear it from down stairs and or while taking a shower. I sent it back and got this Samsung. Man, what a difference. My clothes smell great and the machine is all but silent during every cycle. The only thing I hear is when the water is coming into the machine through the hose. I now do all of the laundry. The only draw back is that after each wash, there is about two ounces of water left in the seal. I just use a towel and dry it out and leave the door open for a while. Hey, just like in the comercial, you can place a glass of water on top of the machine and it hardly vibrates. The LG I had vibrated quite a bit and would have shook the glass of water right onto the floor. You can not go wrong with this machine. I will have done them no justice if I did not mention the sales reps at the Two Notch store in Columbia were a great bunch of experts who really know their stuff.

Great if you can get them on sale!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My boyfriend and I researched for almost 6 months the different kinds of washer/dryers, kinds, how they work, reviews, ratings, what features were available and prices. We watched for sales and went looking at them. We found these two for 1/2 price in november and had it narrowed down to this set and another. We wanted Samsung because it's a sound brand, and people that we know that have them love them and had had no problems. We were a little concerned about the 'mold' issue because the water sits at the base of the door but if you leave the door open a little after a wash cycle until it's dry- there's no problem. They're VERY quiet, notify you when they're done and overall a phenomenal buy for us! I'm glad we got them for 1/2 price because it is a huge buy but overall no issues whatsoever. We didn't want to buy the pedestals since they're a lot of money - so we built our own with wood and left a little cove underneath to store our laundry detergent and papertowels/toliet paper/supplies.

Q: QuestionWhat is the water temperature on the sanitizing cycle and how long does it maintain this temperature?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer When the Sanitize cycle is selected, the WF520ABP heats the water to an extra high temperature of over 150°F based on NSF protocol (P172) for clothes washer sanitization. Samsung recommends checking the garment care label to avoid garment damage. The estimated total cycle time for the Sanitize cycle is 115 minutes, which may vary depending on several factors, such as water pressure, supplied water temperature and number of cycle options selected. The certification for sanitization is conducted by NSF International, an independent third-party testing and certification organization. Thank you for the question, Ms. Samsung

Q: QuestionHow is the WF520 different than the WF511 model? What is the difference between the WF520 and the WF511 model?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Thanks for the question. The WF511 and WF520 are very similar in terms of capacity and features, including the VRT Plus for quiet operation, even at the highest spin speeds, and Power Foam, which pre-dissolves detergent for faster penetration and more thorough coverage of fabrics. The main differences between the machines is the control panel design - the WF511 has an LED display and the WF520 has a 3.6" LCD with multiple languages - and the colors options. - Ms. Samsung

Q: Questionvibration at start of spin cycleJust purchased new WF520ABP, installed by Best Buy delivery. Have noticed just upon start of spin cycle heavy vibration then goes away. Sometimes vibration is very loud with a knocking noise but always goes away when the drum spins faster. I have rechecked level and feet of pedistals are tight. Should I call Service to have this looked at?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Thanks for the question. It's not unusual to have some vibration at the start of the spin cycle, up until about 400 RPM (Medium spin speed), until the Vibration Reduction Technology's ball bearings are distributed to act as counterweights. To effectively minimize vibration up until that point, try adjusting the leveling legs while the washer is spinning. If you see some movement from front left to rear right, for example, turn the front left or rear right legs slightly until there's no more movement. If the movement is occurring more from rear left to front right, then adjust those legs instead. Finetuning this adjustment while the washer is spinning is critical to minimizing the noise and vibration. That said, if there is minimal or no movement on the outside of the washer, and the noise and vibration is coming from the movement of the drum inside, then this is a normal amount. If you do adjust the legs at all, please be sure to tighten the leg locks when you're finished so they don't self-adjust over time. - Ms. Samsung

Q: QuestionDrain hose extensionFor those who have water outlets and drain for washer on the right side, is there a drain extension/modification available to have washer on the left side?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Thank you for the question. If your washer is more than 4 feet away from the water supply outlets, you will need to purchase accessory inlet hoses which are available in various lengths up to 10 feet. The drain hose that comes factory installed on your washer is approximately 6' long, and can be extended by purchasing another section of hose, then attaching it to the original hose by clamping them together with a steel sleeve. If you're simply switching the side that the washer is installed on from right to left, you should be well within the maximum distance for discharge of thirteen feet in any direction, based on the pump's capability. - Ms. Samsung

Q: QuestionDoor open in what direction ?I need the washer on the right side with the door opening to the right. The dryer door needs to open to the left, Can this be achieved ?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Like most front load washers, the door on the WF520ABP opens from right to left and cannot be reversed to open from left to right because of the location of the door lock. The dryer doors, however, are reversible. Instructions to reverse the dryer door can be found in the User Manual. Thank you for your interest, Ms. Samsung

Q: Questionwhat is the new powerfoam tech?this new samsung and dryer pair have PowerFoam technology, what is that?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer PowerFoam is a new technology developed by Samsung which helps detergent to penetrate fabrics faster and more evenly by pre-dissolving it through an infusion of water and air before it enters the drum. The only model to have this new technology available, the WF520 also features 5.0 cubic foot capacity, Vibration Reduction Technology, Direct Drive motor, Diamond Drum, Steam and Pure Cycle to help keep the drum clean and fresh-smelling. Samsung was also recently awarded the JD Power Overall Customer Satisfaction Award for Washing Machines for the second year (2009-2010) and for Dryers for the third consecutive year (2008-2010).
