I owned the original PSP, as well as a PS3, so I'm familiar with Sony and their consoles. I bought the 3G version because I plan to eventually activate it and use it as a replacement for my GPS (you can access your maps and such without the service but it won't follow you on a route until you have 3G working). Even with just WIFI mode, the unit does pretty much everything I wanted it to do.
The gaming is just as fun as the PSP but with added functionality. I've tried about 1/2 dozen titles so far and they are great! I can also check FB, email, watch YouTube, all without having to power up a PC. I have WIFI spots all other the place (thanks Comcast), so it's rare that I miss not activating 3G yet. I already had a media server with my pics, tracks and video, so I'm still able to use it as a media player.
There are things that I'd like to see added but I knew what I wanted it to do and it does it in spades. If you haven't owned a PSP before or don't understand what the Vita can/can't do, I recommend you go to a Sony store and ask LOTS of questions before you buy. I see many negative reviews of the unit but, in most cases, it's people who didn't do their research and were 'surprised' when the unit did not perform as they expected.
Would I like cheaper memory cards, free 3G and the ability to use homebrew apps? Sure, but I already knew how Sony operates and purchased the unit because it met my needs. My old PSP is, sadly, starting to gather dust now that I have the Vita. And that, to me, is the surest sign that I made the right choice.3 out of 7 found this review helpful.

Just an all around GREAT handheld gaming device with great graphics and some pretty good games out there. I'd love more PSH. cross compatibility maybe via the cloud, even just avatar and Home space adjustment and decorating and some shopping. maybe that could come later, who knows, but overall its the best handheld out there right now and that organic led screen is amazing...1 out of 2 found this review helpful.

This is by far the best handheld ever. Has everything you great screen, good quality buttons, nice battery life, very durable, awesome and very easy to use interface. The graphics mirror that of the PS3. My only problem is you can't replace the battery in case something were to ever go wrong. The price is a little high but still great device.6 out of 7 found this review helpful.

PS vita is a good system, but save some money and buy a 32GB memory card, or wait till their is a price drop, as the other memory cards are a waste of time. Do get the ps vita 3g because it will at least get you started with a 8gb memory card7 out of 8 found this review helpful.

All was going well for the first 48 hours and then the Vita locked up and wouldn't work. I bought this for my son's birthday and all was well for about a day and a half and then it just shut down and would not reset. The folks at Best Buy were fantastic. The exchange was easy. So far, no issues with the replacement. Keeping my fingers crossed!10 out of 13 found this review helpful.
