About This Item

Pick any genre - rap, rock, pop, folk, country, whatever you like. Can you think of an artist from that genre that was inducted into it's hall of fame without any recordings released? And if one were to exist, what would that say about the artist's impact, influence and importance? Is this scenario even possible? Born 1929 in San Antonio, TX, Martin Huron Solis, Jr. And his family came to Michigan in 1942 as migrant farmworkers and soon settled in the Detroit area. The Solis family was part of a wave of migration during the 1940s that brought thousands of Texas-born Mexican-Americans, along with their culture, north. Though he played guitar from an early age, Solis eventually fell in love with conjunto music, a South Texas style defined by the combination of accordion and bajo sexto, a Mexican twelve-string bass guitar. He taught himself to play the bajo sexto and joined up with accordionist Manuel Rivera, playing for tips in bars around Southwest Detroit, the heart of Detroit's Mexican-American community. In the late-1950s, he and his cousin Willy Huron, a saxophonist, formed Conjunto Los Primos (InchThe CousinsInch), at the time one of only a handful of conjuntos in the Midwest. Solis became a favorite in Detroit based on a vast repertoire of songs he compiled by following the latest hits coming up from Texas. Their musical style was more complex than the conjunto tag suggests. The inclusion of Solis's cousin Willy on saxophone blurs the line between working class conjunto music and the more middle class orquesta tejana, which includes more sophisticated string or horn sections. Album Tracks 1. Perdida 2. Dos Palomas 3. Esta Noche Tu Vendrás 4. Las Gaviotas 5. Debes de Comprenderme 6. Amor Brutal 7. Renunciacion 8. Cuando Tu Me Dejaste 9. Viva Seguin 10. Sufro Ausencia 11. Atotonilco 12. Cha Cha Cha 13. Flor Del Rio 14. Sin Ti

    Blink 182 - Blink 182 - VINYL LP
    5.0(2)

Vinyl LP pressing. Blink-182 is the eponymously titled fifth studio album by Blink-182. It was produced by Jerry Finn and released November 18, 2003, through Geffen Records. Following the band's ascent to stardom and success of their prior two releases, the trio were compelled to take a break and subsequently participated in various side projects. When they regrouped, the band felt inspired to approach song structure and arrangements differently on their next effort together. The record was left untitled as to refrain from labeling it's content, and it's packaging features a Inchsmiley faceInch logo inspired by pop art. Recorded throughout 2003, Blink-182 marks a departure from the band's earlier work, infusing experimental elements into their usual pop punk sound, inspired by lifestyle changes (the band members all became fathers before the album was released) and side projects. It's songs are characterized by downcast and expansive sonic atmospheres, showcasing what critics dubbed a more elaborate, mature side of the band. Songwriting is more personal in nature and explores darker territory, touching upon the realities of adulthood and unexpected hardships. The record features a collaboration with The Cure frontman Robert Smith. Album Tracks 1. Feeling This 2. Obvious 3. I Miss You 4. Violence 5. Stockholm Syndrome 6. Down 7. The Fallen Interlude 8. Go (Subliminal Mix) 9. Asthenia 10. Always 11. Easy Target 12. All of This 13. Here's Your Letter 14. I'm Lost Without You
