A: It is for the optional foreign plug adapters. You slide off the American adapter and you can slide on the euro, or Chinese, ETC... adapters.

This is the standard but you can charge with a higher watt if your device is compatible. If you have your devices registered with Apple and log into your account on the Apple Store it will tell you if this device is compatible with what you have.
