Great iPad - But Not Cheap Posted by: from: on My first iPad was an iPad 2. I later got an iPad 4th gen through work to use in meetings. My interest in the platform, though, has been for my creative work. I use my iPads mostly for creating digital art and music. It was for this reason that I could justify this purchase. This tablet is more than I have spent on a computer in years. In fact, before I pulled the trigger I stopped and thought, I could get a pretty powerful desktop for this chunk of change. However, upon thinking further I was fine with this acquisition because of the apps I use on the platform to create my art and music. I started generating serious digital art and MIDI music on an Atari ST back in the '80s (before there were color Macintosh computers). Over the years I moved from the Atari to the PC and to the Mac. But upon acquiring my iPad 2, I realized that I had truly found my artistic tool of choice. I found a couple dozen apps that allowed me to create fractals and layer them with digital photography and filter them until the became what I was seeing in my mind. And this series of tools became second nature to me in a way that Photoshop, Illustrator, and their plug-ins never did. Don't get me wrong - The Adobe Creative Suite is still my go-to toolset for design and layout. However, for my personal fine art work, the iPad is so much more comfortable to me. It's a more personal and intimate palette upon which I can work. With this in mind, the power of the new iPad Pro 9.7 combined with the flexibility of the Apple Pencil became a no-brainer. I had to save for a while and pull a number of favors to afford it, but I hope to be using this for many years to come. If you're curious about my art, Google "Ted Stahl Creative." I have a Facebook and a Bandcamp page for my art and music and you'll be able to see some of what I have done within the iOS environment. On a final note, I wish to highlight two things: 1) The reason that I didn't give this a 5-star rating was because it was so expensive and that Apple still requires you to pay up-front for the storage you will need. They will probably never offer an SD card option for expansion. 2) As you evaluate whether or not this tablet (or iOS in general) is your solution, you should always look at the software (aka apps on this platform). Your hardware purchase should be dictated by what you intend to do with that hardware and the software available for it will either prove it's usefulness or confirm that it's lacking what you need. I would never say that iOS is better than Windows, OSX, Linux, or Android. Only you can decide if a platform has the tools you need to achieve your intended goals. Granted, there are always new products on the horizon, but you should make your decision based on what something can do NOW. Too many promises are not kept in the technology world. I hope this is useful for some of you who read it. Peace.

Great 'iPad' Posted by: from: on I tend to update my iPads every 2 years and did so this year. I have gone from the original iPad, to variants of the mini, and now to this. I mostly use my iPad to entertain me during my commute on the train and when traveling. Because I use it for daily trips, I need a lot of memory for all my videos and found that 128 GB was actually not enough so I had to bump up to 256 GB. Though the form factor, weight etc is not a noticeable change from the iPad air 2, the speed, screen, and storage are huge improvements. I also bought the apple pencil and it is fantastic! the quick charge is a great feature and it is very accurate. Very happy overall with my purchase.

The Better iPad Pro Posted by: from: on My current iPad (iPad 2) became out of date and there were MANY things I could no longer do with it because of software updates, app updates, etc. So I decided to upgrade, it was between the 12" iPad Pro and the 9" iPad Pro. This model has the better specs and it's more of the size I needed to replace my current iPad. The extra storage is just what I needed coming from a 16GB iPad2, it feels unreal how much room I have. I redownloaded every app I previously used on my old iPad that I had no room for or was no longer compatible because of updates, and I haven't even touched 40% usage of my storage space. The speakers in this is definitely an upgrade, I mainly use them when watching YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, AMZ Prime when I'm traveling or when it's quiet in the house and I wanna do something productive or creative. Overall I am glad I waited and bought this version of the iPad Pro, I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to upgrade their storage space, specs, and use of their older iPads.

Great tool for work and play. Posted by: from: on I use the iPad Pro along with the Apple Pen to take handwritten notes at work virtually eliminating my use of paper notebooks. I am using Microsoft OneNote software in draw mode for the handwritten notes and have notebooks in both the iCloud and on my work Microsoft One Drive to make my notes accessible from my iPad, laptop and phone. In addition I have a Logitech keyboard jacket that allows be to use the iPad Pro for typing emails and documents. The iPad performs flawlessly and has eliminated my need to carry a pile of stuff to meetings at work. It also has great graphics for watching streaming video so I find my self using it more and more throughout the day. I use some of the Adobe apps for handling drawings and using drawing layers to show markups and comments. Overall a great tool and I highly recommend.

Life-Saving Super Device Posted by: from: on Ok, so I don't really consider the iPad Pro a tablet...it's more like a super lifesaving mini touch-screen computer. I use it daily and honestly it has almost completely replaced my MacBook Air.

Great for business Posted by: from: on I struggled between buying the large version and the 9.7. I'm glad I stuck with the smaller version. It is rather light when compared to my old iPad 3. I take it with me everywhere. I got the Apple Pencil as well. They work great together. It is the first stylus that draws just like my handwriting. I take handwritten notes with client appointments. I'm also using it to study for night classes I'm taking for work. It's a great product. A little pricey, but Apple is a luxury brand.

Great but would be perfect if. Posted by: from: Example ny ny on This iPad is great, the ability to use the keyboard and pencil are fantastic but the camera bump is a major turnoff. This would have been the perfect iPad had Apple made it thicker to eliminate the camera bump and added battery capacity in the process. Thinner is not always better!
