I purchased this laptop on Feb 9, 2015. The next day I noticed the screen would randomly turn itself off and on when working with it. I contacted Asus and told me to do a system refresh and so I did it. I didn't have much time to do with it until around the 11th and noticed it still kept on happening. I contacted them again, told me to do various different things and eventually they had me send the laptop in.
I paid $29.99 to have Best Buy express deliver the laptop thinking it would be a perfectly fine working machine. It wasn't.
So, I had to pay the shipping of the laptop which ended up costing me $39.90. So it arrived at Asus on the 17th of February. It's acknowledged on their RMA tracking thing. I am waiting and waiting on getting it fixed. I had to contact Asus via twitter so they could escalate the claim and have it fixed. The finally fixed it and shipped it back March 16th. A whole month later!
I get it back, turn it on and since its the evening, I decide to increase the brightness of the backlight on the keyboard. Now that doesn't work! I contact them, they have me install 3 separate patches and neither of which fixed it. They then offer to fix it themselves or me go to a Best Buy and have them fix it since they're an authorized repair place for them. After all, I did buy it at BestBuy.com so thinking I would have to deal with another month in it coming back from Asus, I went to my local Best Buy. They wanted to charge me $34.95 to fix it! So, I rage, and send it back to Asus. This time they gave me a shipping label. It arrived at Asus in 3 days and they have fixed it the same day, which is today, March 26, 2015. I am now waiting to get it back and hopefully it works.
This is a $1,150 laptop. At that price, I expect there to be no problems with it! What's more upsetting is me paying $29.99 to express deliver it to me and then pay $39.90 because the d@mn thing won't work as it is supposed to! That's 11 cents shorts of $70 that I should not have had to pay!
Do yourself a favor and avoid Asus. Well, actually, avoid having to deal with Asus, if there is a problem, just go get a refund and buy some other brand because once you get the laptop back from Asus, you will be beyond the refund period and are stuck with it. Such is the case with me. I contacted BestBuy telling them this and they basically said I'm out of luck, no refund for me for a defective product they shipped me.
For my next laptop, I'm buying from Amazon. No more Best Buy, no more Asus!
