I have had my Bactrack for nearly a year but held off on reviewing so I could give it a good test.
Over 110 tests later and this unit has been top notch all along. Consistent and quick results, I have tested friends and family with it and on more than one occasion myself or someone has decided not to drive as we were to close to or over the legal limit of 0.08%.
I've also learned a lot about how alcohol effects me differently depending on what I have had to eat, how active I have been that day, how quickly I have been drinking and what I have been drinking etc.
Came with a nice case and extra mouthpieces that I wash in the dishwasher. This unit is in my car whenever I go out.
I highly recommend it.

This item saves lives....period
Posted by: Dave from: Durham, NC on
I love my new breathalyzer. Every household should have one. We like to host numerous social gatherings. Most of my friends like to drink and don't realize if or when they should be behind the wheel of a vehicle. Once I let them breathe into the breathalyzer, they change there mind about driving...this item saves lives...period!!!

More accurate and consistent than expected

This model is the real deal. I have a friend who's a cop and we compared this model with the police one, which was much bigger, and the results were almost identical. I tested first after just one beer: 0.011 %BAC and 0.010 on the police model. Then after 3 more drinks over two hours, 0.045 on the S80, and 0.043 on the police model. I'm impressed this is available for only 200 bucks. Good technology.

Accurate and Easy
Posted by: TPO11 from: Taunton, MA on
I bought this item to obviously be able to check people's alcohol levels, and I have to say it is easy to use and tests accurate. However, the restrictions of having to wait 20 minutes after eating drinking or smoking is a pain. The mouth pieces it comes with are great and easy to identify which way to place them into the machine, but the replacement ones do not have a ball in them so you have to pay more attention to what you are doing. I have used this 20-30 times so far without any problem and have shown other people how to use it also without any difficulty. I wouldn't rely on it vs. one a cop would carry, but it does seem accurate and it super easy to use and seems really durable. I love the little case it comes in that I can throw every thing I need in one spot. If you need one or just want one, check this out.

Top of the Line

I am pleased with the performance of this product. It's simple, it works well, and the price tag is nothing compared to if the cops get you.
I reuse mouthpieces and haven't had any problems - definitely no need to throw out a mouthpiece after a test.
The screen is bright and easy to read. That's a plus.
Results are consistent test to test. If I blow 2-3 times in a row I get similar results. This was not the case with a previous breathalyzer I had purchased. Definitely worth the money to get this type of higher end unit.

didn't work too well

this is a great looking breathalyzer though the pictures make it seem a lot higher quality than what you get. the thing that disappoints me the most is that you have to send in this breathalyzer for calibration service every 6months. when you go to the company's website, it's a pretty hefty fee.
i wish they made these things one price and that's it.

had to return it

after about 30 tests i kept getting an error message. i was a little surprised at the lack of quality of this breathalyzer. it feels cheap to the touch as if it only cost pennies to make.
it seemed easy to use, though it got complicated because sometimes it would take forever to count down. my friends laughed at the idea this would be accurate.

Very Professional Device

I run a drug & alcohol treatment facility and use this model 24/7. We have five of them and have been using BACtrack units for years. This model is reasonably priced and very reliable......
