      A Berserk Dynasty Warriors Game

If you are a fan of the anime, you know that this is going to be bloody and have some nudity and disturbing situations - as well as some crazy twists. Applying the Dynasty Warriors Musou formula of taking down hundreds of enemies and including boss battles and tons of unlockables fits this property well. The game plays great on PS4 and although not a visual masterpiece, the effects and styles look very nice. As in other Musou games, you can unlock other characters and weapons as well as well as gain cutscenes for your progression. Just note that the anime goes a lot deeper so don't expect every detail. The hack and slashing is truly satisfying considering the property and if you are fan of the anime and Musou style games, then definitely pick it up.

A fun, different take on the DW formula

Berserk is the latest Koei/Tecmo game that can be described as "like dynasty warriors but". If you are not familiar with the Dynasty Warriors games, they can best be described as modern 3d takes on classic 2d, side scrolling, "beat em' ups" like Final Fight. They do have more depth and strategy than the 2D games they were inspired by but at the end of the day there is more button mashing than brain power needed to beat these titles. This Berserk game is tied to the most recent Berserk Anime although there are nods to the classic Manga and Anime here and there throughout the game. The game is fun and is more story driven than many DW style games. That can be both good and bad since focusing on the story gives the game a little more depth than similar titles but it also means limiting the playable characters available in both the story mode and the side modes. If you are a fan of the newer Berserk animes and enjoy a good beat 'em up the you will likely get your monies worth out of the game. Otherwise, there are better DW style games to play.

Better than all the Warriors games Combined!

This game is incredibly fun and it uses the animated movies to tell the story and make you feel like you are living the story. The combat is a lot of fun without any objectives that get in the way. It has to be the best Berserk game ever. All anime games should be like this.

      Mindless fun

If you're a fan of the Berserk manga/anime and musou type games like I am, this game is good mindless fun. Otherwise, it probably isn't for you. Basically it takes you through the old Berserk anime using clips from it for the cutscenes, and also the anime that came out in 2016 (although rendered through the game engine instead). It also extends the 2016 story a bit more than the anime ended off at. The issues with the game is it does get a bit repetitive like all musou type games and there's not as many playable characters. You also play mostly as Guts in the story which is understandable, but they should have allowed more missions that used the other characters. It is also censored in many areas and a lot of the story details were trimmed down. There are other modes, however, that let you grind and that could be fun, but I only finished the story. I enjoyed it for what it was.

      Cutscenes and Cutting Galore!

As many Musou game are, this game can get pretty repetitive, but Berserk has tons and tons of anime cutscenes, so I found myself looking forward to the next level more than I usually do in these types of games. It actually has a pretty compelling story. To me, this game is right up there with Hyrule Warriors as the best in the genre. NOTE: This game is single-player only, so if you're looking to cut through baddies with a pal, look elsewhere.
