I read every review about this cleaner I could find. It is wonderful. I moved into a new townhouse with filthy white carpet. I have two cats no problem with litter Pan habits but throw up all over. With the cats throwing up and the dirt from before the move and after the white carpet was disgusting. I looked into professional and rental carpet cleaners finally after the reviews and the lift off tank the decision was made for me. I'm so so glad to have received this cleaner. It cleans like a champ. I used the cleaner that came with it. It was great. But I bought the heavy duty cleaner and a boost for the really really black high traffic areas. It was like I had brand new carpets. Amazing is all I can say. I did clean a few areas twice and used the lift off tank for a couple of throw up areas. And the stairs. It is a miracle machine. The absolutely disgusting carpet is white clean and very soft. You have never ever known how awful it was. I wish I had before and after pictures. It's unbelievable. If you have pets and dirty carpet buy it buy it buy it. Just also be sure to get the right cleaner to use in it for the right job. Also I want to say that I did read reviews saying it didn't suck up the water. It does just move slowly to give it a chance it's not like a vacuum cleaner. Also one last thing. The carpets were DRY in about an hour. Amazing

Cleans stuff well.

I've never had a carpet cleaner, let alone use one, so it was actually kinda interesting how this turned out.
First, off it was nice that it came with a sample bottle of cleaning solution. It was enough to clean my small living room and a short hallway. The instructions were easy to follow and can reflect on your learning style (quick start, and detailed and slow).
Fill the clean container with water a little solution, and off we go. Starting to use it, you will feel the heft of the machine. The repetitive back and forth did me in a few minutes of use. But eventually, I learned to go fast when it puts down the soap, then slow when sucking up the water and dry. It worked well that way (and maybe with other cleaners). It does heat up nicely and you can feel the warm water and dryer on the carpet as you use it. That being said, it does take time to dry properly (4-5 deliberate passes) without dampness. Once dry, my carpets "felt" clean, and comfortable again to lay on.

If you like soaking carpets that aren't clean.

Had this product recommended by the sales associate. It was specifically designed for pet owners and it was on sale so I decided to give it a shot. Out of the box it was easy to put together and use. That is the end of the good stuff. I pretreated some of the dogs old accidents and started to clean. First off this machine will only clean about a 5ftx5ft section before it needs to be refilled. That is only if you don't have to concentrate on a particular spot. Second it did little to clean the pet stains it was designed to clean up. Even after going over the stains three separate times the stains and smell are still present. Took the product back to best buy for a full refund which they were happy to give me and I didn't even have to take it apart and put it back in the box. A+ for best buy but the product was not the best.

Good Carpet Cleaner
Posted by: ck2525 from: on
This is my second Bissell carpet cleaner. I kind of broke my previous one bouncing it up the steps. This machine did a good job of cleaning the 14 year old light colored carpet in my family room. My biggest complaint is that the water reservoir and the dirty water tank are too small. I had to fill it several times (probably 5-6) to clean 250 sq. feet. The other issue I had was the speed I should be cleaning at. My previous machine indicated when I was going the proper speed for the most effective cleaning. Maybe I was going to slow, hence the number of times I needed to fill the water reservoir. The last con is that there is no indicator that you have run out of water, you need to notice that your brushes are no longer turning. One of the new features I really like is that you mix your cleaning solution into the water rather than having a separate container, this insures uniform solution throughout the process. The machine did a great job of cleaning. If I hadn't had one previously with some features I liked, I probably wouldn't have any cons.

After a recent storm, I had water in the basement of one of my homes and decided to purchase this over a dry vac or renting of a carpet cleaner. Assembly was simple BUT the screws weren't really aligning for the larger unit and the handle/back. I was able to get it together but the back wasn't well-attached to the base. I had to go over the flooring quite a few times to get it dry enough but I felt the carpets were really clean in the end. I really like that this detaches to a smaller, more portable cleaner for use on mattresses, sofas and stairs. The unit worked really well for the latter and I will get plenty of use out of this unit so I'd definitely recommend it.

Great cleaner, but...

I love this steam cleaner for its cleaning abilities, but there is room for improvement on the design. While cleaning, you can't see if the brushes are rotating or not. The first time I used it, I felt like it was just dragging across my carpet tearing it up. Luckily, my husband was there to see that the brushes were spinning at least intermittently. This thing was FULL of carpet fibers after cleaning with it. I literally had a large dinner size plate mounded with carpet fibers after cleaning 2 average sized rooms and a small hallway. I had to stop several times to dig out the fibers. Then, to clean the machine is awful...you literally have to take this thing apart! Also, the dirty container is awkward to drain and it was also full of carpet fibers that were very difficult to get out of that tank. Other than those annoying things, it works great both as an upright and lift away!

Best Carpet Shampooer EVER!!!
Posted by: MissPrissKK from: on
Best Carpet Shampooer EVER!!! And I used to have a Kirby vacuum with shampoo cleaner. This cleans your carpet like a professional machine.
In less than 10 minutes it completely cleaned a small bedroom that had a number of old cat urine stains. I have a very elderly, arthritic cat with kidney disease, who often uses the carpet in that spare room, which is why I bought this machine. I was skeptical that the stains wouldn't return after the carpet dried completely, but the following day the carpet still looked brand new.
Money very well spent!

THIS IS A LIFE SAVER
Posted by: HDmvp41 from: on
Recently my wife and I had bought a puppy. 7 months later he is still not potty trained and we have become nose blind to the horrible urine smell throughout the house. We had a family dinner planned at our house a few weeks ago, as soon as everyone came in they started gagging and remarking how terribly smelling it was. We all ended up going out to eat instead. This was a hugely disappointing to us.We decided to buy this one because of the portable spot cleaner. We used the machine with Bissells 2X PET URINE ELIMINATOR carpet solution. (Best Buy does not sell)
After one clean of the carpets with this cleaner and the urine eliminator mix our carpets smelled brand new! We called my mother in law over to to check how it smelled (Unknowing that we had gotten the carpet cleaner). She came in and was amazed of how we had gotten rid of 7 months of accident stains and odors.
Oh and we probably will be getting the deposit back from the company we rent from!

Got the job done when others failed
Posted by: ElginComputerGuy from: Elgin, IL on
I had a fiasco with carpet cleaning. A pro left the carpets still stained and very wet and smelly. I bought a Hoover and it broke within an hour.
I rented a Rug Doctor and it did better than the pro, but not so good as the Hoover, so I researched online and ended up with this one. It did a great job of getting out the stains that the "pro" said were permanent. Did a better job than the Rug Doctor, but had to keep running to the sink to fill the tank.
The smell took a little longer and finally out of desperation I used plain water and a couple ounces of white vinegar. Once it dried, the smell was pretty much gone, too. I wish it had a power brush in the attachment, but other than that, this shampooer is exactly what I needed.

Great for homes with pets!

I chose this carpet cleaner as a replacement for a Hoover that we had swapped under the geek squad protection. I love that I can use it upright, or portable. After using it today for the first time, I'm in love. It picked up so much-even after doing a double pass with my dyson first! It even turned our nearly black carpets back to light tan! (We have to walk over mulch to get inside). I have not experienced the problems with water pick up as other have, however I do realize that I need to make a few passes of the cleaner over the damp area to pull the water up. It even handled the ridiculous amount of dog hair left over very well, clumping it up as making it easy for pickup. Overall I'm am happy and impressed.
