Miyazaki Delivers Again: PS4's Must Own Exclusive Posted by: from: United States on The creator of Demon's Souls & Dark Souls sets yet another benchmark for hack and slash - action RPG's, as Bloodborne delivers on every turn. I've played about 5 hours already, haven't beaten the first boss yet, and have died numerous times and I've never had more fun doing it over again. Combat and mechanics are very tight, leaving little to no leeway when landing devastating blows. If you're even a hair late on avoiding a foes attack or sending one of your own, it will most likely lead to your death. For those who haven't played a Souls game before, the game is very unforgiving. You will die a ton, but it will teach you to slow down your combat mechanics, figure out the perfect time to strike the enemy, and which moves to use to help down your bosses. Because of this progress is very rewarding. If you need help during enemy encounters you can summon friends to come help you at almost any time, and leave hints for others to help their journeys as well. In terms of graphics Bloodborne is no "Order 1886", but it's not bad at all. The art style makes up for what lacks in the graphics department and you'll be constantly set in gloomy areas, and surrounded by even darker enemies. The only complaint I have so far is some pretty bad load times, which if you're dying a lot, you'll experience a lot of. They last around 30-45 seconds, but is a small hitch in an otherwise outstanding game which can definitely be patched later. Buy this game, you will not regret it. And bring an extra pair of clothes for your character, you're about to spill lots and lots of blood. Everywhere! 5/5

Special RPG Posted by: from: on This game is magnificent. It's very similar to the souls series but with different gameplay mechanics such as the ability to block is frowned upon. Weapons CAN be found in the wild and load times are not 40 seconds long maybe 20-25 seconds. Stuff that is missing that used to be in the souls game like blacksmiths and factions aren't really noticeable because this isn't souls it's a new franchise with different approaches. If everything was the same then I would have played this game already. The atmosphere does change it's all not just gothic architecture. These people complaining about all the things I've mentioned here either haven't played the game because they only have an xbox or didn't play long enough. The game is phenomenal. Anything less than an 8 is ridiculous and the zeroes are absurd because that means the game is unplayable which isn't the case.

The Exclusive PS4 fans were waiting for! Posted by: from: on Miyazaki is the name that is headed in the direction of Loved Director Hideo Kojima. The man behind some of the most punishing, but really rewarding experinces is BACK testing the waters on this PS4 Exclusive. This game has been worth the wait. Not to give anything away in terms of story...but know this... YOU WILL DIE. A LOT! Dont go into this game expecting an easy setting and breeze through it, because guess what? ITS NOT! Thats the beauty of it...even in the first few minutes, if you dont strategize, you will suffer. This game does not hold your hand and tell you where to go, you have to pay attention to the beautiful environments, and also the NPCs. They provide clues on what to do next. I absolutely love this game and it is easily 60-80 hour game. If you want to do EVERYTHING in the game, you are looking at 100 hours minimum! Do yourself a favor, if you own a PS4 and are up for a challenge, This game is for YOU!

An addicting and challenging RPG Posted by: from: on Until Dark Souls III, I never played any of the Soulsborne games before (so they're called) and boy, are they something else. This game, much like Dark Souls, has a very distinct type of gameplay and atmosphere that can only really be described as "Dark Souls". However, what really sets this game apart from Dark Souls is the arsenal of weapons and abilities you're given. In Dark Souls, you get mostly traditional medieval weapons like swords and shields. In this game, you get all different kinds of interesting and unique weapons, and there's only 1 shield in the entire game (but that's not a bad thing). The combat requires you to stay on your toes and keep moving at all times, which makes for a very different style of play compared to Dark Souls. Basically, even though it resembles Dark Souls a lot in many ways, there's a lot that sets it apart and makes it unique in its own ways. If you're thinking about buying, I suggest looking into some "Dark Souls vs. Bloodborne" YouTube videos first. There's just too much to cover in a text review here.

Brings gaming back to it's roots Posted by: from: Johnson City, Tn on It's nice to have a game that doesn't hold your hand. Instead of telling you what to do and where to go at all times, Bloodborne drops you into a strange world of confusion with not so much as a goal. It slowly starts to come together, the story, the mechanics, the weapons, it's all there. It's a game that respects the player, but also demands respect of it's own. It's tough, yes, but that's not all the game is about. It's beautifully designed, meticulously balanced, and every nook and cranny has meaning and life. If you want to experience a game that let's you play how you want to play, this is for you. If you want your hand held and cannot tolerate defeat, you should move on. The best game I've played in a long time.

The best Soulsborne game Posted by: from: on Bloodborne is From Software's crowning acheivement. An incredible deep and dark tale, captivating Victorian style and ultra fluid, super fun combat all weave together to make an unforgettable game. The co-op elements are great, there are plenty of NPC spawns to help with hard bosses, and invasions are as tense as ever. Newcomers may find the difficulty fairly punishing at first - BUT stick with it! I can't possible relate how rewarding this game is to grasp, but also what you get from figuring out exactly what is going on in the town of Yharnam. I can't sing it's praises enough. 400+ hours in and will double that at some point :)

Prepare to have your patience tested Posted by: from: on I've never played a souls game before but I kept hearing that Bloodborne was a good game for newcomers. The thing with this game is if you don't have patience you wont like it. Everything you do in the game is a grind. From playing the same section over and over until you finally learn every trick into beating it, or simply figuring out how to upgrade things, etc. With all of that being said there is something deeply satisfying about finally beating a section you've been stuck of for the past few hours. I've only beat the first few bosses but It always keeps me wanting to jump back in and do it all over again!

Blur-Borne Posted by: from: on The PS4 slim just came out and I finally picked one up. I come from a PC background so this was a huge step down. But after reading mostly positive things about this game I gave it a shot considering I love the Soul series. As the title suggest it's a blur-fest with its locked 30fps. It even drops below that in certain areas and it really affected my gameplay experience considering I'm use to 60fps Soul games on PC. If you can handle stepping down and handicapping yourself get this game. PC users, stick with PC games. Don't go to consoles.

Excellent Souls-like Game Posted by: from: on If you love the *Souls series (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls I/II/III), then you'll probably love this game. It does play a little faster than the other *Souls games however. It is very challenged and there can be a bit of a learning curve if you've never played on of these games before. The environment/graphics look incredible, and the game-play is top notch. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves a challenge, and anyone who loves the *Souls series of games.

Awesome Posted by: from: on This game exceeded all my expectations. I never played a Dark Souls game and wasn't sure how I would like the difficulty. I've found it's way more rewarding to build up, practice your strategies and eventually.. finally... get that victory over a difficult enemy. Great game, for $20 you can't beat this. If it's cheaper than $20 at any point you should just buy it to tell people you own it.
