Some reviews Can Be Misleading - Easy Setup
Posted by: littleragdoll from: on
Just bought this printer at Bestbuy.com. I did some research before hand and some of these reviews here are misleading. It does have an extendable arm to catch the paper so there is not paper all over the floor. Set up to WIFI was easy. Do not try to use the online manual for this. Manual is setup screwy and hard to understand. Go to www.usa.canon.com - Put in the name of the printer - Click on Support - Wireless Help - WIFI Printing - Wireless Setup on Windows Computers (or whatever you have) and it will show you PDF set up instructions that you can print out which I would suggest. Just follow the directions. It was simple. Also you can turn off the shut down option. There's probably more I haven't come across yet. Print quality is really nice. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Decent Home Printer
Posted by: Crucial82 from: on
My old canon printer finally gave up after years of great service. Was in need of another printer but not one that can handle a ton of work, simply because it won't be seeing a ton of usage.
Started browsing Bestbuy website and noticed it was on sale. Went to the store and was pleasantly surprised by the small compact size of the unit. The old printer I had was pretty large.
It was easy to install on my desktop computer because it will be hardwired to the unit. Wi-fi connection was a different story. The unit does not have a screen on it for you to enter a password if your router has one. For those that aren't technically savy, it will be a bit difficult because of this. My suggestion is you aren't totally computer savy and can maintain a home network, to install on your phone the canon app. The app can program the printer and allow you to enter the associated password of the router to the printer.
As for the features, they are serviceable. It doesn't allow for faxes if that is a deal breaker, you have been warned. One of the great features that I really love is the ability of the printer to print on both sides with having to manually reinsert the paper. You just select the option for the printer to print on both sides and it will print on one side and before it releases the paper, it will automatically feed it back into the machine and then print on the other side and finally release the paper. Great for college students who have teachers that allow for you to have a single sheet of paper of notes on tests and whatnot.
The unit does not come with a USB cable, so, if you are replacing a previous canon printer, keep the USB, as you will need it.

Solid printer, easy install
Posted by: Ted2 from: on
Rather than install from the disc, I took the advice of another reviewer and downloaded the latest driver from Canon. Good advice, as Canon recommends uninstalling the old driver, then re-installing the new driver - saved me from install/uninstall/reinstall. As well as the "complete" install, the Canon website also offers a "driver only" package. I chose "driver only" to avoid any bloatware.
Install was a breeze (Windows 7 Pro). The only question asked was "WiFi or USB?" After choosing USB, printer and scanner were installed with no further user input - and no bloatware.
Print/scan/copy all produce good quality results.
I chose the MG3620 because it was the newest model I could find, at a reasonable price, that used the same cartridges as our other "house" printer, an MG3222.
Though I've only had it a few days, I gave it 5 Stars because of the option to install "complete" or "driver only", the ease of install, ease of use, good quality results, and the duplex print capability. Nice feature. As is the fact that the driver is compatible with every version of Windows from XP, up to and including Windows 10.

Does the job

I actually like this printer, is fast enough and the quality of the ink is pretty good, but please when printing a picture make sure you do not touch it right away; it takes a little longer for the pictures to dry. Simply move the picture out of the way and continue to print ^_^

Good but not so great wireless
Posted by: Meliodas from: on
This is a great printer and scanner, but it's ability to connect wirelessly isn't very easy. You must connect it to your network to do so, but if you have a password on your network, good luck. I have' been able to get it to connect because there isn't a way to enter the password for our network to connect it.

It's quiet, wireless, double sided copy all a plus. But it's limited to the paper size you can print. Trouble with card stock

Not so good printer with many flaws
Posted by: Mommybird from: on
The printer shuts down after a period of time. The only way to make it print wirelessly or corded to a computer is to manually turn it on. I use it wirelessly. That is frustrating as my computer in not near the printer. That means I must get up, walk across room and turn on the computer so that it will print for me.
The tray to catch the printed papers is very short causing copies to often fall in the floor. That is another frustrating thing as many times the papers should be in a collated order. Picking them up and putting back in correct order is added time to getting something accomplished!
The ink is a little on the expensive side. I was hoping a less expensive printer would mean less expensive ink. The ink is the same price as an expensive printer.
Lastly, it took several tries to change the default mode of printing to the set up I had desired. I prefer to print most things in Econo speed and ink for a savings of ink and money! It doesn't give you the option to make the change in the Windows menu for the specific printer. You must do it in Word mode.
I think I prefer an HP model.
