I have owned every type and make of printer since there was only the dot matrix ones. This was my first Canon printer. Never would I have thought a $79.99 printer could do what this one does. It produces pictures like no other printer can. I am a photographer and believe me this reproduces what you see and capture through the view finder. I also learned something new from the salesman...THIS CANON COMPANY IS THE ONLY COMPANY THAT PROVIDES FULL INK CARTRIDGES IN YOUR NEW PRINTER AND ACTUALLY PUTS EXTRA INK TO FILL THE PRINT HEAD WHEN YOU SET IT UP. What's with the other companies??? The ink cartridges you get with a new printer from them only have half the ink in them. What the heck is that all about???? It's like buying a new car and going home the put the rest of the oil in it. I hope this post is read by anyone looking for a new printer... do like I did ask questions about all the printers...But Buy A Canon!

This is a great printer. Quick and easy to set up. Separate ink cartridges make it economical, no throwing away good ink to replace one empty color. The WiFi printing from laptop, phone, tablet makes work and picture printing an easy job. The print comes out clear. This is my 2nd Pixma printer, this one works just as well as my previous, more expensive Pixma did and hopefully it will last just as long (4 years of lots of printing). This printer does scan and make copies, it does not fax.
Very pleased with this purchase.

I purchased this combination printer, copier & scanner as a replacement for a HP unit. This was on a suggestion of the salesman in the computer/printer. I liked the features and the fact that the ink cartridges are individual colors. When I had difficulty setting up the printer, I called Tech Support and he walked me through the entire setup.
I will never purchase another HP product. Speaking with a live agent is far better than the messaging you may or may not get from another company.

Another great product from Canon

I'm a long time owner of Canon printers. My previous one held up so well I actually had to find an excuse to buy a new one. My family and I have a lot of Apple products and thought it would be great if we could print directly from our iPhones and iPads. Well this one does! It does everything we want from an all-in-one. So far, it's been a great purchase for us.

Good Early Impression
Posted by: AverageJohn from: St. Louis on
I've only owned this printer for one day and have run only used the printer briefly to test the quality, speed, loudness, etc.. It is currently on sale with no reviews showing so I wanted to offer my opinion and impressions.
The printer's ink cartridges still appear full after having completed the tests required during the setup procedure. Everything is pretty straight forward regarding setup. My only issue was Windows 10 kept my old printer as the default printer so ensure that is changed.
The quick setup guide is thorough enough to get it going. The print quality is good for a printer at a sub $100 price point. At it's listed retail of $150 I would expect slightly more. I detest the fact you now have to manually open the paper trays to print. The old Canon printers did this automatically.
The printer is very quiet in the quiet mode and speed is acceptable. The scanner also seems quite decent and faster than my previous Canon printer. Ink is a bit pricey in my opinion but the 5 individual cartridges should offset the price difference in my old cartridges.
Overall I think it is an excellent printer for the $79.00, or anywhere less than $100. I will delay recommending it at full price until I have further tested it and ensure everything operates as smoothly as it has thus far.

Should've been great

I read reviews prior purchasing it. But i miss the part that it does not have a usb slot for printing/scanning. Our old printer has this feature and it is really convenient to have. Photos printed well and setup was easy. Its just that i really want that usb slot option. Returned the product.

Stops printing halfway though a page.
Posted by: Darren from: on
I bought the MG 6821 because I bought the MG 7720 a few months prior and liked it. So I bought the next model down for my home office. The unit printed in a halting, slow, mode, and then would stop halfway through a page. Sometimes just spitting out a blank page. The 7720 printed high quality photos on photo paper infinitely quicker than the 6821 printed a text only page. Tried with the same computer and router as the 7720 and the 7720 worked fine, where the 6821 failed. Obviously a bad unit. I didn't use the 6821 until 18 days after the purchase and tried to return on day 20. Best Buy said "too bad". Not impressed. Canon was no help, so I'm stuck with it. Again, not impressed. Neither would refund or exchange. At least I can use the ink that came with the junk unit in my other Canon printer offsetting the wasted printer purchase. No company can acheive a 0% failure rate, I get that. This could be a one off looking at the reviews. Just run your's early and often to make sure you have a good one.

Can't go wrong with Canon
Posted by: CSIGilbertMom from: on
I had a Canon several years ago and it pooped out. My husband and I decided to purchase an Epson and it was the biggest mistake. After 6 months, there were problems with it printing and the fix would require me sending it back to the manufacturer. It would mean me paying more in shipping and handling than the printer was worth, plus being out the printer for 6-8 weeks. No way. Instead, I went back to the store and purchased a Canon again. It's been the best. It's footprint is bigger than other models, but who cares as long as it works, right?
