good little printer
Posted by: ram68 from: on
I bought this to replace my Selphy CP740. Online product description is a bit misleading. I read you can have fun with different boarders and effects. In reality either it has a boarder or it doesn't. There's no choice of different types. As for effects they consider b/w, sepia, positive, vivid etc to be "effects". Besides that let down the printer itself works well, decent quality of print and there are many layouts to choose from. Once you install the Canon print app on your phone or tablet you can print from them via Wi-Fi. If you have a newer computer you can print from it also. I have Vista and there are no drivers available. Windows 7 and up.
All the paper ink combo packs I had for my CP740 model all work on this model but I do need a new cardsize cartridge. A postcard size cartridge comes with the printer. Also the display screen is very blurry but my prints come out clear. Maybe I just missed something.
My last Selphy lasted about 10 yrs so I hope this does as well.

Great printer for photo booth
Posted by: Golteb from: on
We had a party and renting a photobooth is too cost prohibitive. So we decided to do our own DIY photobooth. We chose this printer because the price is just $100. We set it up, paired with the ipad, and printed approximatley 300 photos throughout the day. Pictures came out crisp. Photos are dry almost instantaneously. However, its not the fastest printer around, but for the price, this is great. Glad we bought this printer. Renting a photobooth cost 6-7 times the price of buying this printer and the app for ipad.

Good once you get it setup

The issue is with a PC running Win 10. Cannon claims no special driver is necessary. That is not entirely true. Although WIN 10 sees the printer it indicates the driver is missing and you cant print to it. I open a ticket with Cannon and that was not very helpful. Google to the rescue and I download an package that gets it to work however the PC MUST be on WIFI. If the PC is connected to the WIFI Router via Ethernet cable you will not see the printer. Once connected to a PC that connects via WIFI it works well. My WIFI Cannon MX printer has no such limitation.
I feel Cannon has not lived up to its reputation with the lousy support and documentation for this product.
If you are computer savvy you will get it to work - eventually
Printing from an SD card is fast and easy.
Printing via Apple Air Print works great
Picture quality is good.
Battery is not included and costs almost as much as the printer ! Really Cannon ???

Great pictures and quality prints fast. Buy extra ink and paper because it only comes with 5 sheets and enough ink for those 5 sheets but not a big deal just know when u get it you will need to buy ink and sheets also!

Beware not Windows 10 compatable
Posted by: Mike from: on
Bought this printer with the idea that it would be great to make quick photos. While setting up this machine I found that the only way I could print was from a media card. After about 4 emails to Canon support I was finally told that this machine was not Windows 10 compatible I originally had Windows 7 on my computer and thought this would work. It will work with Windows 7 but has to have service pack 1. Mine does not. Canon stated that they thought it should work correctly if I upgraded to Windows 10. I did the upgrade to Windows 10 with no results. The next email from Canon then said the the CP1200 is not Windows 10 compatible and that Canon has no plans to issue software for Windows 10. Their answer was to download all the pictures we wanted to print onto media cards and then print them. That is the only way that this printer will print. It will hook-up to my computer via wifi or USB cable but will not print that way.
On the bright side it does give very nice photos doing it that way. Just not what I had in mind. I am going to try and return it as soon as possible.

I love this little machine! One, it is light and portable! Two, it's very convenient being able to print at home. Three, it's so tiny and cute that it's not an eyesore like a big old printer sitting on your desk.
There were a few things that surprised me after buying so I'll share with you... You have to buy the package of paper & ink by canon. You're not able to refill ink or buy separate paper. The plus side is that there's always the perfect amount of paper to ink cartridge. The print isn't true 4x6. You just have to be aware that your print will cut off a bit. I'm getting used to this. Just crop pics accordingly. Remember to adjust brightness. You can buy a chargeable battery. I heard some kits come with but mine did not- hence the lower price. Lastly, yes the price is a little hefty but it's worth it because of convenience. I've done so many projects already because it's sitting right here. Oh and I used YouTube a lot to get tips on apps and such. :).... I think it's worth it. Best buy had the best price- SALE!

Nice quality pics

I have still not used all the features of this printer. However, I can say that wireless connectivity works perfectly on both Android and Apple. The pic quality is great for the unit's price point.

Its smaller than expected, and a bit pricey.
Posted by: THEPANDA from: on
I thought it was going to be bigger. For the size and speed that it prints I think that it should be cheaper. For one picture the picture goes in and out about 5 times for it to be completed. I printed 11 pictures and it took about 15-20 minutes for them to all print. I just thought this new version would have been faster and maybe they should have added bigger pictures. Overall, if you have patience then sure I recommend this printer. If you have no patience and if you suspect the ink to last for a long time I DO NOT recommend this printer. :)

Excellent product for a relative novice.
Posted by: billyr50 from: on
The printer is easy to set up and use given that the instructions in the operators guide are clear and concise. The pictures are of very good quality. It is compatible with iPADs, tablets and smartphones and access has not proven to be a problem. The compact size of the printer is also a plus.

This is what I have been looking for! I like that I can also print photos using SD cards too.
