A: you can just sync it when you get home and don't need a smart phone at all. best thing is you don't even have to manually do it when you get home. if you leave the "dongle" that comes with it in your computer and have your computer on sometime it will automatically detect your fitbit and sync with it.
Q: Watch Size
A: On the fitbit website there is a link to print off a cutout you can wrap around your wrist to determine the appropriate band size.
Q: does this sync with your phone for call and texting, etc.?
A: Yes, it will synch with your phone to notify you when there is an incoming call or text message (not email). You can read the text, but not reply, nor can you answer your call from your wrist.
Q: Is it better to go big or small?
A: Get the large. It needs to fit a bit loose so you can move it up your wrist when exercising to get more accurate measurements.
Q: Does Fitbit work with stationary bikes?
A: I put my Fitbit on the pedal of the bike. Wearing it on my wrist doesn't count the bike as steps~
Q: Can you swim with the two new "fitbits" that are water resistant?
A: I don't take mine off other than to charge it. I shower and swim with mine.
A: There is a pause feature but it's manual only. The pause button on the main screen so you don't have to navigate to get to it.
Q: does the watch keep track of total calories burned and highest and lowest heartrate?
A: It does keep track of the calories burned per day. When you sync it to your phone it gives details about the heartrate during the day, calories burned, any exercise. It is a great tool for the active person. I love mine.
