OK performance for the money

We budgeted only for this price range so this is the one that was chosen based on a smaller criteria. We wanted a high-heat option that sterilizes. We also wanted stainless, which takes a chunk of budget from the get-go. I would have preferred all stainless without the black accents, but this machines looks pretty good. I dislike too many buttons and complications. This has a clean design. We intially began looking for a new machine because our 15 year old dishwasher wasn't cleaning as well as it used to. After we got this new dishwasher, we were dismayed to find it wasn't cleaning well either. In researching this, however, we found that dishsoap manufacturers have removed phosphates from their products. Basically, there are NO dishwashers that clean like they once did--all because of the detergent changes. I found that the Finish Quantum brand does the best (also backed by Consumer's Reports). Ok, so now we are getting nice, clean dishes. Back to the machine: It is a noisy sucker, and its cycle lasts over 2 hours, closer to 2-1/2 hours. That's a long time with that amount of noise. Really, it's that loud! We leave the area, and if we are answering the phone or trying to have a conversation there, we open the door to stop the cycle for a bit. I did expect a louder machine given the price range, but was still a little surprised that it's as loud as it is. The interior racks are quite bare bones. It's not a plushy machine like those hundreds of dollars more. The racks are sufficient for a famiily of 4, and we can load some large pans, regular dishes, utensils, etc. The silverware trays are not lidded which doesn't bother me, but I saw some higher-end models with enclosed silverware cages. We normally only run it every 2 days and the dishes are nicely cleaned. Again, thanks to the Finish Quantum. Often, however, the dishes aren't dry completely--not just the tops of coffee mugs with the little pool of water, but the insides of glasses that should be dry. We often have to towel dry as we unload. The door closes and opens nicely. We are still adjusting the fit however. There is a gap of about 1-1/2" under the counter where you can see the metal brackets. We are getting a new floor and countertops soon and hope this will be remedied then. For the price range, it's a decent appliance. If you want something quieter, definitely do your homework and you may want to invest a little more for a quieter machine.

Hey, it's not a stainless steel rocketship, but how much can you expect for $300? I put it to the test when installing it (was a bit awkward for me as I'm not the handiest of dads), and the construction quality held up fine. No leaks, everything fit, etc. After a few initial washes we knew we had a winner.
We currently find the Light Cycle with High Temp option to often be enough to clean our loads (we do a light pre-wash/rinsing of sorts before we put dishes in the unit), and its nice to know this washer has more horsepower under the hood for the more soiled loads.
With respect to the noise, I don't think it's bad at all, it's certainly quieter than our last washer, although I'm sure if you spend 2-3 times as much on a washer you will find one quieter.
Bottom-line: this dishwasher seems like a great value and I couldn't be happier with how I spent my money. We've had it installed for over two months and haven't had one issue. Dishes come out spotless and sanitized. I would have to assume at this point that things will continue that way.
Thanks for the deal Best Buy!

nice entry level stainless

I bought this to replace a very, very loud GE dishwasher that did an adequate job but the mustard color didn't really mesh with the rest of my kitchen. I wanted stainless steel and this was the least expensive option available. This dishwasher certainly fits more dishes than my old one, and it is considerably quieter. I've found it to be quiet enough to use while I still have company, even though my kitchen opens to my dining room, but it isn't as quiet as some other washers I've seen. You'll know it's on, but I don't find it bothersome. It was simple to install with a friend, and thus far the dishes are clean, although I haven't challenged it with extremely dirty dishes yet. You will definitely need rinse aid, BTW. So far, I'm happy with this dishwasher, and I think I got a dishwasher that was adequate for the price I paid. Someday in my dream home I'll get something with an adjustable top rack that is completely silent and has all the bells and whistles. For now, this is a great dishwasher for someone who wants a SS upgrade on a conservative budget.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy this dishwasher

My husband and I bought this dishwasher from Best Buy, August of last year (2012), thinking it would be the right choice, since we have always been loyal Frigidaire customers. Our previous Frigidaire dishwasher lasted for years!
A few months after purchasing this new dishwasher, the soap dispenser stopped dispensing the soap... Result? Dirty dishes and a waste of our time. We called the warranty company and were told to try and pack less in the dishwasher, which we did, to no avail. We called them back and after a brief in-person assessment were told that the dishwasher was indeed defective and that they would fix it; which they did temporarily...
A few weeks later, the same issue presented itself. Supreme Appliances came back out to take a look and this time we were told that the "PC board" would need to be replaced, since it was not supplying the right amount of power for the dishwasher's components to operate correctly, blah, blah... I.E. MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT.
About 2 weeks later, when the parts finally arrived (in the mean time, us having to wash dishes by hand, i.e. defeating the entire purpose of having a dishwasher to begin with!), the dishwasher seemed to be operating ok.
A week ago, a few months later, the SAME issue started again! We called Frigidaire to try and get our unit replaced, since this does not seem to be something that the warranty service company is able to fix, and were told that they would require THREE billed warranty visits. This seems all too convenient since our warranty will be expiring in just a few weeks, August 2nd, 2013.
At this point, it is ridiculous, since after calling Supreme Appliances once again, they are only able to provide service after the weekend, when we have a dinner party scheduled for Saturday night... Why do I mention this? Well, simple, that means we get to wash dishes by hand on Sunday, once again defeating the purpose of spending good money on a dishwasher that is supposed to save us time and effort! THIS IS WRONG!
FRIGIDAIRE, please restore our faith in your company by doing the right thing and replacing our dishwasher with a working one!

This is a great product for the price. It works great the only annoying thing is the tray can easily fall of the track. Just make sure you are careful.

Quiet and Effective
Posted by: Jenirow from: Murrieta, CA on
This is a fantastic dishwasher. It does an amazing job washing the dishes and there is no need to rinse, I tested it! Since my kitchen is adjacent to the family room, noise was an issue and this is so quiet, I sometimes forget I turned it on. I am more than pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great dishwasher for a reasonable price. I am a tough critic and couldn't be more pleased.

Detergent dispenser did not work from the start.
Posted by: BrianP77 from: Tallahassee, FL on
This started off poorly because the detergent dispenser would not open during the cycle from the very beginning. It took a week to get someone out to look at it and another 2 weeks to get the replacement part and have it installed. Then when I was finally able to use it, it does not dry the dishes well at all. I guess you get what you pay for.

great buy for the price

This dishwasher works great. It has lots of different wash settings, including a sanitize option which is great with a baby. The dishes get clean and even the installation was easy. The only complaint I have is it is hard to open. There really isn't a handle to grab.

I like this unit overall. It's a little noisy, but it was a great price in a package with other appliances. The preset buttons are great and you can delay the start until, which I love. I've had a few instances where the soap doesn't come out of the holder and I have to run it again. That's annoying. I switched soaps though. If you have small kids, I recommend getting a dishwasher with the buttons on top, so that the kids don't push the buttons and run the dishwasher when it's not needed.

Great buy for the price - just takes an extremely long washing time.
