For example, simmer burners provide consistent, low-temperature heat for melting delicate foods or simmering sauces, while power burners provide high cooking power for quick boiling, searing, or stir-fry cooking.)

Q: can you install a cooktop in an outside kitchen on concrete with propane gas

A: Hi Abby- Thanks for considering our GE Model JGP329SETSS! While the cooktop can be converted for use with LP (LP Kit included), they are not designed or approved for outdoor use. Thanks for reaching out to us! SUEatGEA

Q: How deep does this cooktop extend beneath the counter top itself? Is there room for a drawer?

A: Hello- this is Lisa from GE. Please look at page 4 #1 of the spec sheet regarding installing a drawer uner this cooktop: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-10860-1.pdf Thanks for checking.

Q: What is the required overhead clearance to over range microwave?

A: Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. Over-the-range microwaves must be installed a minimum of 66" from the floor to the top of the microwave. They can be mounted higher than 66" from the floor; however, the further the microwave is from the cooktop, the vent draw capability will be affected. The 66" from the floor dimension will allow approximately 14"-16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: Are the knobs metal? If not, what are they? What guage is the stainless steel?

A: Hello KitchenremodelKim. This is RICHARDatGEA. The control knobs on the JGP329SETSS are a Brushed Stainless over Plastic and are dishwasher safe. While I do not have the gauge available, all of our stainless steel products are tested for durability, appearance and quality. Thanks for the question!

Q: Does it have a vent under it to hook up?

A: Hi CJ- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering our GE Gas Cooktop. Model JGP329DETBB is not equipped with downdraft venting. Check out the Installation Instructions online at the following link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-10860-1.pdf - While a vent hood is not required by GE, it is recommended. Vents help to effectively remove smoke, grease, odors and moisture from the room. We suggest to check local codes for any venting requirements. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: Can I use this unit for Propane gas? I want to use this unit to replace my Jen-Air unit which has a Converter kit for Propane gas. Thank you

A: Hi Lenah- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your interest! Yes, the cooktop is shipped from the factory set for natural gas and can be converted to LP by a qualified installer. The LP Conversion Kit is included with the cooktop. Thanks for checking with us. Enjoy!

Q: I need to connect this to a downdraft exhaust system. Can I do this?

A: Hello Craig - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. Our Universal Telescopic Downdraft System can be installed with this cooktop, as long as the installation instructions for both units are followed. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
