Kept me from freezing
Posted by: Rumpelstiltskin from: on
Our furnace went out due to a faulty pressure switch, at the start of a few weeks of freezing temperatures. It was going to take a week or more to get the part we needed, so we bought one of these. It's a fairly small manufactured home around 1024 sqft. I set this one up in the living room, and a smaller Vornado in the bedroom. I kept it unplugged and off when I was away, so it took it a while to warm up the place when I’d get home, but it did keep the place generally comfortable while I was there. It was heating a fairly big area, and “toasty” wasn't really an option (nor was I expecting or trying for that), but it kept the place adequately comfortable enough to get us through till the part came.
It was easy to use, and fairly light. I have no complaints on functionality. My only concern was due the design and placement of buttons on the top. My cats kept trying to sit on it (being a shiny new object in the room). When they did, they kept pushing buttons; accidentally turning in off, on, or changing temperature settings. Thus, this is why I made sure it was unplugged when unattended, so they didn't accidentally turn it back on when no one was around.

Good heater for large rooms
Posted by: kstaff4 from: on
Looked to Cons Reports for Heater Ratings and bought this one after it's high marks were noted. We have it in our double car garage that is always cold, and it does great, using the automatic thermostat set at 60 degrees. Really does great, and would recommend it to anyone.

The best heater I have ever bought!

This is the best heater I have bought. It heats up the whole room and saved on my gas bill. The remote control is also convenient.

Very efficeint heater

Well rated and efficient heater. Just like your home furnace, set thermostat and it does the rest. We used this for temp heat for 3 rooms when our furnace went out and had to wait for parts.

Functions like its' cheaper competition...

I bought this for my husband's "man cave" located in our finished basement. The area is nowhere near the square footage the information booklet claims this heater covers. I thought for sure he would be dialing down the temp.-NOT! If anything, we added a few throws in order to be comfortable while sitting down there. My basement can be a little drafty but, I saw no difference in this heater than the cheaper ones we have purchased in the past. Not $$$ well spent!

Poor Design & Not Very Energy Efficient
Posted by: Steven206 from: Seattle, WA on
Honeywell designed this to be energy efficient and it wasn't. With this unit, you're allowed to either have it run constantly on Low, Medium or High until you turn it off or set it to a temp. you like and it will shut off/on automatically according to the temp. This is where the extra "energy savings" was supposed to come in. This unit will go from High to Medium to Low as it approached the temp. you set. For example, its set for 70. If the current temp. is 65, the unit will run on High until 68 then go down to Medium and 69/70 it will go down to low and then its supposed to shut off. High =1500, Medium=1250 and Low=1000 in terms of energy used. What Honeywell seems to not realize that in lowering the output of the heater as it got close to set temperature, its not putting out as much heat and thus can't reach the desired temperature. So, in my case, it hit 68 and went down to medium and sat at that temperature and at times got up to 69 but, could not go any higher because it would not stay on high. It does to save energy but, if its constantly running at 1250 or even 1000 you negate any potential energy savings by dialing down the heat. It makes no sense at all. You end up using A LOT more energy in the long run. Do NOT buy this unit. You'll be stuck with a heater that you can't set it and forget it.

Didn't heat as well as I thought
Posted by: Ethan4Abbie from: on
Returned this item. When your close to it it's very warm, but it would not heat the entire room. We got a smaller heater and it worked better.

The Honeywell space heaters does what is expected. It heats our living room comfortably but it won't keep up on the lowest level.Waiting for our next electric bill to see how much it went up from previous month.
