great for some who just wants to play old records

Very easy to use. Set it up in about 5 mibutes after I got it home then played a couple record sounded very good. This is perfect for someone who wants to get into playing records or already has a collection. Also can be connected to a receiver.

Great for everyday use

My husband and I have a 1970's era record player that we didn't want to keep using daily in order to maintain its quality (and it is large and takes up a great deal of space). I read the reviews about this particular smaller player and decided to purchase it. The negative comments mention the speaker quality not being the best, but we use larger auxiliary speakers so that wasn't an issue with us. I like that it is small in size, easy to understand, and you can close the lid while still playing a record (important for us, especially around a 15-month-old with sticky hands). I highly recommend this record player, particularly if you have auxiliary speakers.

Great bang for the buck

This returnable does what its supposed to! Plays records, has easy to use controls, plugs up to my receiver, auto stops at the end of a record, and has a small enough footprint to be shoved into an entertainment center. Only gripe is the low bass and no auto return on the arm. Overall though great bang of for the buck!

Record player works and sounds great; my 14 yr old was thrilled with it. Only thing I would change, is the arm is not automatic, so you take a chance on scratching the vinyl every time you use it. Other than that, I would HIGHLY recommend it!

A fun idea that went so wrong . . .

Purchased this turntable for my son's graduation based on the great reviews here. Was looking for something basic, yet functional, to introduce him to vinyl as his dad and I saved the good ones from long ago. BEWARE -- Best Buy warranty lasts 15 DAYS from the day your package arrives on your doorstep. I ordered this item April 30, it arrived May 9 and we gave it to son on graduation day, May 26. The turntable didn't spin at the right speed (33 1/3 was more like 40) and no adjustments to pitch made it any better. Although we opened it in less than 30 days and wanted to exchange it immediately upon opening, no dice from Best Buy. There is no warning of this on the packing slip either. The stores cannot help you at all with online purchases.
Anyway, bottom line is if your item is not claimed as defective within 15 days, you need to contact manufacturer. Manufacturer will replace it but we have to pay for shipping which comes to another $30. SO, the inexpensive idea is now not so inexpensive and there is no guarantee that this new one will spin any better.
If you do order this, I would say the tone quality would be good for little kids who don't know any better. Also, you have to manually place the needle on the record (there is no lowering arm) so if you don't know how to do that correctly, or cannot do that correctly every single time, scratches to your music are inevitable. If you have any memory of what your records sounded like on your old phonograph, don't get this item. OR pay for the Geek Squad insurance. That would have saved us!

Skips, damages records
Posted by: Sharon from: on
This turntable skips and is visibly not level, the arm is not heavy enough to keep the needle down, and the needle scratches records. Spend the extra money on a better turntable. Returning this asap. Other reviews on other sites reaffirm these issues, numerous complaints of the same problem.

Love the size, sounds great. I did buy a speaker since I love to play my music loud, but the normal sound is fine for listening in same room. Would buy again.

Great turntable for playing at home.

I bought this turntable for a friend for Christmas and he really likes it. It has a good sound quality and doesn't take up too much room.
The only con is that we wish it's volume would go louder.
